Third person view for dead spectators is fine. Third person view for players in the match is sacrilegious and just more of the dumbing down of PC gaming to make it more like consoles. You want third person? Go play Mech Assault.

Just thought I'd pop in here to post a link to the latest of many polls on this subject: http://mwomercs.com/...s-poll-revived/

Where the majority of the community stand is quite clear. I certainly hope they don't **** off the majority to try to please a tiny minority.

Last time I checked, 3,000 persons out of 430,000 isn't a majority (poll from a while back).

Also works for 700 persons out of 430,000 isn't a majority.

My my... you certainly are aggressive, aren't you?

If someone doesn't agree with you you question their IQ until they are shamed into agreeing?

Riddle me this... if you want to play a 3rd person mech game, then why don't you go and play one instead of insisting that this one should be 3rd person too?

I don't want to play in third person. I'm quite satisfied with 1st person. I believe it should be here to help players who are having problems regardless of "new" or "old." I also believe it should be in MWO because there is a whole slew of players out there who won't play MWO due to it doesn't have an alternate view perspective.

Don't worry Ignatz22, I have the same problem with humanity in general regardless of subject. For example, driving cars on the road. Or, receiving government assistance. Reading comprehension before posting on a public forum is one of the least concerns I have. It's just a nice thought.

And there are a whole slew of players who wouldn't play the game if they added 3rd person.

If you want to get rid of the current and potential future players for some other group of potential players then I hope you have some figures and data showing it to be a good business decision...

If this game is not going to have a third peson view, then please, at least give us a rear view camera display so I stop backing in to people and they stop backing in to me.

It's enough if it's implemented for training grounds only . OK ?

something right above the shoulder would be nice, then we can at least look at our paint jobs that we spent real money on.

Just play one game badly. Then you can see your Mech on YouTube as the other team shoots the bejaysus out of it.

I don't want 3rd person in matches so to speak but after the fact. If you guys are considering a recorder option then I definitely want 3rd person in that and other camera controls. I've been dying to edit some movies of action from exterior views. Otherwise no 3rd person in matches cause I've seen how that is abused in Battlefied 3 with vehicles to give you extra situational awareness that your otherwise would not have.

Third person is going to be a module that launches a drone I bet. It will hover about 10m above and behind your mech. Any takers? Im betting one thin mint girl scout cookie.

I bought MC to show approval for the change to the consumable program, still waiting to even lay out more money when they put 3rd person view to death except in training grounds or as a match playback function. I might...might, even accept a drone module with a short timer.

This actually seems like quite a good idea, and perhaps ECM could interfere with it to help balance things out.

I think it would be cool to have 3rd person view when you are spectating and that's it, not for use by still alive players.

^^ This.

While in combat, it`s an advantage that shouldn`t be permanent if it all available. I do kind of like the Drone idea, esp. for LRM artillery boats, maybe as a high cost GXP Module for say 5 seconds with a 1 minute CD. something along those lines if at all. That said, it would be nice if it were in some way in line with lore, and I don`t remember anything like a Predator drone off the top of my head. That`s what LAMs and aerospace fighters are for. But in the interest of gameplay, some bending is inevitable.

As a spectator it would be cool, though would likely provide an further advantage to a premade with voice (which may or may not be important in the future when House combat goes full bore. Maybe a CS-like system where it can be turned on or off serverside, depending on match type (off for ranked matches / events /wars /whatever, on for PUG).

Maybe even with a mouse look option to position the cam around the mech for better screenshots / Frapsing for specs. Or just to see what it would look like to have a PPC fired in your face :D

And the two C-bill modules will let the drone hover for 15 seconds and 20 seconds...

...while the MC-only module lasts the entire match.

All of this head scratching over 3rd person view. We had 1st and 3rd person view for many many years with MW4, Mercs, Mektek Mercs. I have played both and like both. Since MWO is a pay as you go system and leave it as an option for anyone who wants it. Maybe as an "Elite" box to unlock or just as a C-Bill purchase. There are all the other variants to unlock that will give you an advantage over a stock mech so why not add another?

I think it should be optional as in SERVER SIDE, so in a server with first person only you couldnt run third person, but in a third person server enabled server you can choose.

I honestly would go for first person, but i wouldnt evade third person view like the plague, why? I want to see my mech >.>
