the way the scoring is done for the class leaderboards is not transparent at all, i'll give you that. but we do know from Bryan Ekman that it weighs both the quantity and quality of your matches about evenly.
SURE its all about Quality over quantity..
Thats why on average those currently leading the class boards have played an average of 30 hours or more in a game that has been going on 33 hours.
Quit for the love of god, making excuses for them. I have been here since the beginning, and I will say PGI has done a great job with the game, and am the first person to act all "fan boy" and lay it on any n00b that talks out the side of thier arse..
But in this case, PGI has screwed the pooch.. and they need to acknowldege the fact.
I reread through all 14 pages of this.. and not once have I seen Bryan, Russ, Paul, Garth, Matt, or any PGI rep for that matter acknowledge this travesity. I have see quotes reported to be from Bryan on the forum (didnt go check what thread it may have been on .. but it sure as heck wasnt this one) saying they are going to change the next tournament. But thats niether here or there. This "tournament" is what needs to be addressed.
Simply it comes down to I am pissed off.. Want to know why I am so Fracking pissed off..? I have played this game since early closed Beta, been on the boards since damn near the beginning.. and I was looking really forward to a good competition with my fellow Mechwarriors. I was looking forward to a little trash talking amoungst my friends.. in short I was looking to having a fun weekend using my SKILLS to compete in a tournament... apparently I lack one of those skills to win.. the ability to play endlesssly with no sleep. WHICH ISNT A SKILL... !!!
Instead what I got a tournament that was a complete piece of crap.. useless to the point its unexcusable. I wasted a complete day to realize when I woke up this morning, that it was nothing more than a grindfest. Nothing more and nothing less.
I expect more from PGI.. ANY professional should have seen what they were doing wasn't rewarding talent or piloting.. it was rewarding grinding. That is inexcusable.
I would have done better to just ignore the whole tournament and played with my friends and teammates.. which is what I did today.. because thats what I do with the 18 or so hours a week I get to play the game. I am just pissed I wasted half of that in a tournament that was extremely pointless.
I love this game and will play it for a long time going forward.. but if they ever again offer a tournament that has no transparency as to how we will be scored, and scores quantity of play over quality.. they can count me and many more of us out. Becuase tournament s should be fun to play and they should let you know how well you do against the competition from a SKILL standpoint.. this tournament was anything but that. If you can't admit that fact.. well your Fracking delusional...
