Not true at all. I have it on very good authority from people in my unit that there are GROUPS of people working shifts on a single account. Apparently they take one account, divide it into four or five shifts taken by each individual member of the group, and keep it running around the clock.

Yeah its pretty obvious some will do that, the question is who is going to betray first and keep the account...

Come on man! If some of those in here Griping and QQ'ing about the Tourney set up, spent even half as much time actually playing, as opposed to trying to tear it down, for no good reason, they may have actually seen their sorry arses on some of the Boards... (Holy Smokes Batman)

P.S. If you have a Life, good for you. Just let those folks who do have some free time on Weekends enjoy the Game ffs...

some free time

No 1 on the heavy list is playing since 34 hours (5min p. match) or 46,7 hours (7min p. match) which is quite impossible :(

Also, I'm at 51 right now for lights, its just a grind fest. Don't care who says what, who plays more games has the better shot to win.

Also the Raven-3L and ECM need some attention. Currently, my friend Wispsy is the only non Raven-3L light on the list. And I'm trying my darnest to change that as well.

Oh yes, and one Spider.

The Quote from Bryan states that games played does not make up more than 10% of your total score, and that getting more kills/assists per game improves your score faster, therefore it is not a grind.

However, to get more kills/assists you have to... play more games. So although playing lots of games and sucking may not help you, playing lots of games well is a necessity to top the leaderboards, therefore it is about the number of games played essentially. The absolute best players still have to keep playing games over and over to get more kills/assists, and more points.

Shame he isn't number one since he is the best light player I ever fought with...

Yeah and he said that I'm the best Jenner-D pilot he's ever played against, but neither of us can avoid things like work and sleep 100% (its grinding)

Flame me all you want, but you all know this will be won by aim bots. In game events are a great idea, but its just too bad that there is no way to stop the cheaters from cracking the game. I guess paying $25 to buy that added edge for a loser who can't aim makes them feel justified. I would actually be somewhat impressed if these losers actually knew how their crack worked or had any idea how to code it. Until PGI finds a way to detect and squash these pissants there is no point in even bothering to keep score. Fortunately there are enough rightous players to make most matches legitimate stompy robot fights. For the haters who have to cheat to get ahead, well nice work in driving a game you should love into the ground but your not fooling anyone.

Hmm.. Aimbots?, ****** me off to think that I am being almost instantly cored sometimes not due to some insane skill on someone elses part or my noob skills, builds etc. But some weenie -w- a cheat. This is news to me. My stats are nothing to brag about, but it sure feels good to get the odd kill, survived match, big damage/ many assists round and know that it was an "earned" feat, good, bad, or otherwise. Tag em & give em the boot!

well games played is obviously huge in the factoring in some way because now I'm seeing people on the leaderboard with more losses than wins but they have like 400 games played.

This tourney is great for ELO and PGI figuring stuff out. it's beta. Too much whining going on, if you don't like it don't play, otherwise keep pugging and help PGI. great way for PGI to learn for future tourneys.

I have seen great ideas on how to improve the tourney in the future, most significantly by simply taking your best 50 games and factoring those. This way if you play more you get more shots at winning (better odds) but if you just play the 50 games and do well you have a chance. factoring for time played in any way is a very bad idea in any game, BUT it motivates people to keep playing, it keeps numbers and playerbase strong, so it too has a reason. perhaps dividing leaderboards into clusters - those that play 500 games, those that play 100, those that play 50 would be a great way to have brackets, and let those of us with real-life stuff to do get to compete with each other while the mountain dew & chips 72 hour grind and red-bull me crowd can compete with each other instead.

get some sleep, relax, don't burn yourself out on MWO just to gain some ranks stick a trophy in your mech you may never see again cause you stroke out or get so burned out the game never sees you again :(

Sadly this whole challenge is down on grinding and the advantage our oversea-cousins have in ping.

Otherwise than that : nice idea.

Hint for next time : Less grind, more skill-weighted

Hint for next time.. Give everyone a chance... lessen the grind.. Base it on 50 games played or something.. if u wanna play more games fine they take your top 50.. but at least with a soft goal cap everyone has a chance vs playing 400 games..

Played all day Friday into Saturday getting to 4th in mediums till I had a birthday to go to. By the time I got back #1 had more wins than games I had played total and almost 100 score on me and I had dropped to 15th, so I just gave up =/. Clearly there are people that are going to play for 3 days straight and if you miss any time, you basically get nothing.

Played 5-6 hours. In 1 battle I got 7 kills with my Commando 2D, another - 5 kills 3 assists. 80% of all battles - 1 kill minimum. As result - no more than 120 place (started from 300-th or something). At that point - it was useless to compete more. The results should divided by the number of fights or something like that.
There shoud be fun in challenge, not 24 h marathon.

P.S. One good thing from this challenge: I learned to pilot Commando better and now I like this mech even more. ^_^

Nope, it says "Capwarrior4lyfe!" Because that is exactly what they promoted with this contest, it wasn't about who had the greatest skill as a light pilot, it was about how fast you can cap and move onto the next fight. No skill, no teams, all based on W/L and in a 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1 vs 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1 battle.

PGI You should be ashamed of yourself, your little promotion has put a very sour taste in my mouth for this game. Its MECHWARRIOR, not CAPWARRIOR. We get Cbills to buy better mechs, to not use them! CAPWARRIOR!
