we can throw that out the window and what we can do is repairs can be based on weight as 100 ton mechs can take 100 seconds to "field" repair while lighter mechs take shorter time. it doesn't even need to be a full repair, a repair based on how much armor you have left

No. Field repairs make no sense and are a bad idea.

From UO forward I have played all the MMO's for at least a few days. Eve is one of the worst spreadsheets masquerading as a game in existance, and the seven people (and that one guys girlfriend) people who play 40k do not count.

A few days played in each MMO? How cute. I've got my name in the credits of some of these MMO's LOL. But hey, everyone has their view right? EVE is not for the feint hearted, but has produced some of the most amazing gaming moments there are. Their yearly Fan fest is a lot of fun too.

Oh, and those 7 WH40K players must be *loaded*, seeing how Games Workshop is listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Cheers bud.

Call people who disagreed with you asshurt nerds. But you wouldn't do such a thing.

Oh, wait, you did.

Of course I did. If you consider pointing out the pushback based on "well this mech x did y in the year..." not the recourse of an [redacted] nerd (hint: We're all here talking about fictional robots on the internet. We're all ******* nerds) then we have differing views on the nomenclature. A troll it is not.

Grow some stones kiddo. If you want to contribute, then do so - but based on a mechanical/gameflow reason, not because it doesn't fit timeline. I was ******* around with some AoD mini's the other day, hence the topic. It was a short one at that, didn't even remember I posted it until I saw all the karma from it.

I was not measuing your miniscule epeen. I am not going to list my first dragon kills here because anyone who does is a pathetic loser. Some games were so awful I could not play them for more than a weekend.

It is clear you are a troll. I have a bridge to sanity you can hide under.

Doesn't CoD have medics? I think you are mistaken... you want CoD not Mechwarrior. :P

Just about every game has a mechanic of repairing or rejuvenation when the combat is longer than 2-6 minutes (which is currently the average). Dropping in "medics" now wouldn't help much, as it's still a free for all brawl session for the most part.

I don't play any FPS's (other than this one I suppose) so I throw out the CoD as a general reference.

I want MechWarrior. I want events, I want scenarios, I want something that makes this feel like less of an arena fight (cough *heavy gear* cough) and more of a beefed up combat sim.

Awwww....did I strike a nerve? Get's angry and calls me a troll, yet brings out "epeen". I didn't intend to start the day kicking dust, but hey - it's Monday, might as well.

You stay classy kiddo.

So, insulting people who disagree with you for no other reason than that they disagree with you isn't trolling? Oooohkaaaaay.

And another insult. What is it with you?

ANd I never even brought up timeline. Timeline is not an issue.

PGI have already said NO to repair bases. They will never be in the game. I'm glad they said No to magical repairs...

The only thing this thread made me think is.

We have run out of sensible things to complain about.

Should be great news for PGI.

No, lots of people have disagreed with me. I haven't said anything negative to them (nor do I have reason to)...you're just taking this personally for some reason. The skin be thin in this region apparently.

Repair vehicles aren't non-canon at all; what of the JI-50 'Jifty' Repair vehicle and its successor, the JI-100, which could bring even critically damaged mechs back into the fray quickly as long as the reactor wasn't damaged?

However, I digress; in the current game-modes, repair vehicles just aren't feasible. Now, if we had something similar to, say, BF3's conquest mode, where battles can span out over an hour and a half, then repair functions would trule shine.

I wouldn't be opposed to introducing an 'ejection' system, on another note; before your mech's reactor goes off like a firecracker in a clenched fist, you have the option to bug-out, with a 50% 'injury chance'. If the injury chance fails, and your pilot-avatar is unharmed, you may drop (After a preset time penalty; SARS has to find your pod, after all.) in one of three other mechs chosen in your pre-launch mech-bay, essentially working as a 'respawn.' Since there are four trial mechs, this doesn't single out new players as much. If the injury chance succeeds, your pilot avatar becomes 'injured,' and you can't re-deploy for the remainder of the match.

As another possibility for long-term games, the re-deploy could wait until one team is eliminated.

If this was a different game, where not everyone could be a mechwarrior and someone had to play the fire truck, the tank, the ammo carrier, etc. over the course of multiple-hour long campaign style games, I would do so.

But in this game, no I would not want to play or see such a thing.

No.

It doesn't fit the canon or the intended feel of the game to have field repairs under fire. Field repairs were a lengthy process in the game, the novels, the lore etc and are in no way fitting to the experience imo.

As someone mentioned, you're essentially asking for a healer to go with your DPS/tank classes and that's not what this game is about for I'd say the vast majority of players.

not needed, but wanted... Hardcore Fans and Canon followers aren't the only ones playing this game, there is a heaping large playerbase that are casuals that enjoy having that layer. What we're trying to do is give choice, if you don't want that, you can choose not to use it in an area that doesn't allow it, but other people will use it in areas where it is allowed.

where people have choices of what to fight others with or without, and have the choice to fight with items that feel "good" to them and where people have a choice of either, while having the ability to be forced outside your element. Do you know what that is called?

Community Warfare.

please understand that the best way to ensure the longevity, and dignity of this game is to give players choices, "you don't want that? here's this, either way you're still helping the big picture"

giving players a choice of what they want or do not want is the best way to make this game "fun"

so yes, I endorse Repair bays for the sake of fun, as long as the "HARDCORE FANBOYS" can choose not to play with them in their little world, and not feel like their being shortchanged by those who have it.

1 life games can have drastically higher rewards, other game types can have lower rewards.

Certainly, and let's see how long the game lasts after that is added, and all the hardcore and cannon fans leave in disgust. We need the casuals too, but it's the hardcore one who actually spend money on this game and pay PGIs electric bill.

Believe it or not, not every game has to be WoW or CoD. You know why? Those games already exist. Diversity is GOOD. Insisting that every single game fall into the same exact mechanic mold is bad.
