Didn't read, along with the other billion whine threads. So tired of these, and tired of people typing out mwo is failing, or is going to fail. People said the same thing about founders, then said it again with open beta. And I'm sure many times before that, yet here the game still is.

This feels like a class action lawsuit waiting to happen, was there any disclaimer or note when we bought the founders pack that the money wasn't being allocated specifically for this game, and instead goes to fund 2 other games?

Why do companies think they can pull this ****? It's OUR money we invested, for one specific and well stated cause, and it wasn't invested as such. Why aren't the many small investors treated similarly as those that invest millions singlehandedly, PGI is just as accountable to us, as it is their shareholders.

This is your mech content bottleneck right here:

"2 Modellers, 2 Animators, 1 Concept Artist, 1 Texture Artist"

When I worked for Mektek on Mech packs 1-4 as a texture artist we had up to 6 Texture artist's, 4 to 5 Modellers, and 4 to 5 Concept artist which is the reason we could push out mechs so fast. Having just 1 texture artist is a HUGE bottleneck for the amount of work that needs to be done to complete just one Mech skin/texture.

which is why it's odd that they haven't hired anyone

If you had bothered to read it, you would have seen that it isn't a whining thread and that there's a reason it has 24 pages worth of replies.

But, good to know.

it all comes down to a company that makes promises and then doesn't really keep them. They don't seem to be listening to what players tell them. Most of the people i play all ***** about the same thing. I know they want to make money and i don't blame them but they have to be careful. I seem to recal reading back in their mission statement that they wanted to keep things authentic. Seems to me they are falling short in quite a number of areas. I hope they make a game this is worth sticking around but it's like the first post says... I know many that are already hanging their hats up. You can't make a free to play game but then turn around and give the paying characters better gear. Then they aren't following the timeline... I also wonder when if they will ever bring knockdown back it is a part of the orginal game and is game changer that is missing... well enough of my rant...

If wishes were horses - beggars would ride.
Hoping for the best doesn't mean that we can dismiss the worst - especially when it very well could be reality.

Great post Norris Packard. Appreciate it.

WE ARE BETA TESTERS. We do not have the final product, yet.
I don't know what is going on with the Developers and nobody does, unless they work at that company. I believe, though, that there are some more things in the development line, that are not passed out to the gamers. There were a couple of images much prior to Forest Colony Snow and images prior to Alpine Peaks.

So - I'd just say we keep calm, enjoy the BT and MW Universe and support the development of this, truely great, game!

Beta isn't going to end until we test the Clans. If it ends before that, PGI is a bunch of idiots. And if the beta doesn't end for another 10 months, how are they really going to market this game? I can't imagine they make a huge amount of money off of paints and hero mechs. I haven't spent a dime since I got my Founder's.

The monthly updates only highlight the problem.

Bryan was supposed to post this Month's on Saturday, check his twitter, he then changed that date to today.

It's the things that cause you to realize just how bad they are at sticking with a schedule.

Not too mention no Daily News anymore. PGI is showing signs of being understaffed. Video Game Beta's do not normally last more than 6 months. I'm a Fan, a Group leader, a MWO Founder, I just pray this isn't another "Earth and Beyond" (if anyone knows of that game?)

Wow! Page 25! :)

You take a Catapult, you attach some arms from a Cataphract to it, and hey, look there, you've got a Timberwolf chassis. Now, a few tweaks to the model's structure, especially the cockpit, which BTW, is fracking HUGE on a Timberwolf(Clans, they don't mind sticking it out like that), alter the hardpoints to fit the OmniMech system, polish up the animations and boom, done.

Lol listening to a non-artist talk about creating art is just funny. :)

If I were you, I would have used MS paint for my novel's cover!

I think it's mildly ironic, and typical of a Monday, that this thread laid out a plausible if unlikely scenario, only to have PGI totally upstage it within twelve hours with something not only plausible, but more tangible of a threat than a content draught.

Way to go PGI! ^_^

It's not a content drought if we get more MC consumables during the 4 month period.

Maybe my sarcasm detector is broken, but this content drought was about 'Mechs, and only 'mechs, not Pay To Win noob-bait cash-grabs.

At least we can now say:

You were wrong, Norris. MWO wont die because of content drought.

Fair enough, guess I'll take it outside and put it on the street, and let it get run over until it starts working again.

Wasn't going to put another post here but here I go. Been a beta tester for many years now and I can recall quite a few games that have been in beta for 3-5 years, and yes people still complaine but not nearly as much as here. Truly intresting.

Doom saying! Quick everyone with the pitch forks. You make your assumptions I make mine. But spouting doom a year in advance? 2000!, 2012!, what is the next one? 2036!
Estimates are Estimates, it could come sooner or later. Because estimates are best guesses.

From your posts that I've read, you seem like a very optimistic, well spoken, and most likely well meaning kid, albeit somewhat naive though. There is no disputing that the longer they take to get to the real core of MW:O, which is Community Warfare, it will be likely that more and more of the player base will get bored and disinterested in the monotony of such a limited game. There is just too much competition out there and people will move on to other games. It's difficult to get people back when that happens.

To think just a few days ago my biggest concerns for MWO were merely balance tweaks and the slow rate of content inclusion.

I don't know whether to be amused that pgi can put my fears to rest in most horrendous way possible or depressed.

Actually, I've spent quite a few hundreds of hours doing 3d modeling of Battlemechs for artistic use, not game use, but I've also spent quite a few hundreds of hours doing 3d modeling for various mods for various games from Quake to Battlefield 2, so yeah, actually I DO know what I'm talking about.

I would frequently use parts from other models when I was creating a new model that could do so, I built up a library of various parts, arms/legs and various small pieces, that I would use instead of having to recreate entirely new pieces for every single model I did, it's something ANYONE who does 3d modeling does, obviously you don't do it or haven't learned this most basic of tricks, don't know and don't care which the answer is.

And I used 3d Studio Max, Lightwave, Maya, Bryce, Poser, and Paint Shop Pro when I was doing that work, along with whatever specialized software the various game engines would require(quake engine had it's own modeler..horrid POS).
