I hope for a change in the patch notes stating, "Missiles are no longer brighter than the sun, just a little burn at the *** end of the missile! Sorry if we ruined your eyes!"

Haha! I know rite!

Yet another exciting month for the game!

Offline testing grounds have been sorely needed and its great to finally have it in the game! No more trying out graphics options and/or control schemes and/or loadouts in the heat of battle!

New map! New mech! More are still needed and it's great to see the game continually flesh out its fundamental content.

I am a fan of the Cicada chassis, and the X-5 could be an interesting alternative to the 3M and 2A, once CDA quirks are implemented. I expect upcoming chassis quirks to be included with the x5's introduction. Should be interesting to see how the different variants compare then.

On that note, new chassis quirks and revisions have not been formally announced in recent patches (AWS with PB, CN9 recently), and I look forward to adjustments to any of the remaining battlemechs, especially the CPLT, CDA, and RVN.

Fuzzy dice will go well in a speedy chassis, methinks either my TRB or my CDA ... hmm ...

Coolant Flush!!??!? I shall bite my tongue with regards to this ... *edited to remove qq'ing*

Funny how lag shielding was the most important issue on the planet and the DOOOOM of all things mechwarrior, but once the net code improves drastically, people aren't jumping for joy ... Hooray for netcode progress! Netcode progress is the barrier betweeen the current mechanic, and collision + object destruction. This is A BIG DEAL.

New stats are great, I'm sick of only having silly K/D and W/L to look at. Cant wait to be able to view others' stats as well. Should change ppl's attitudes on playing when their K/D isn't the only thing kept track of anymore. Would love to see % time played in each 'mech, and respective stats for individual chassis. Also, would like to see accuracy, hit % for various sections (RT, LT , CT, etc.). Give us baseball-level statistics, please!

Great stuff PGI! Can't wait to jump on after work tomorrow! We all have our own wishlists, its great to see so many parts of them manifest!

P.S. QQ, I will be on holidays for the month of April, so please hold off all important updates after March 5th, until May. Thanks. :D

New Command Chair post shows Hero Mech with custom colours (!!!!). I actually may buy one now.

I don't care if it can mount 30 SSRMs and 2 ECM, if I can't paint it orange, it's not going in my mechbay.

Founders mechs too, pretty please (with sugary myomers on top)!

Cicada hero mech - don't know, I rarely play Lights/Meds and I surely will not spend any more money on Heromechs unless it is shown that they are really worth the money.

Pattern - nice, but again, my money. no sirs, it's an open beta with no release on the horizon. If you release a full game with a decent metagame, I will gladly throw my money at you...

Missile path - oh yeah, nice. But I already see the many threads about how much better the previous paths were... or what's so wrong with the changed version :P

Testing grounds - yes, finally. What? maybe 19th? sigh.... just wait again. and in the end it's nothing else than a small sandbox where you can learn how to steer and to shoot at dummies (which in fact would be testing grounds) - so no new maps again... yes we got Alpine recently - too bad I can't play it (maybe 1 out of 10 matches drops me on Alpine Peaks).

Statistics and much of the rest - nicetohave, but absolutely no priority currently. I hope this is some sort of side gain and not the result of hours and hours of developers work. Don't focus on eye candy, deliver what will give this game depth.

OK, but let us wait until Tuesday - no, Wednesday as the downtime falls into the early evening here in Germany, so no afterwork playtime for us tomorrow, unless you can stay up late. there's always someone somewhere you displease, regardless of your efforts. B)

if you are referring to this:

which is the only date mentioned, clearly it is referring to the "in game options to configure your controls and video options"

Actually, the IGN patch preview says the Training Grounds is going in tomorrow, and the command Chair post does seem to refer to the 'in-game options menu' as being on the 19th.

Quote

The patch also includes an oft-requested feature in the new Testing Grounds. This will allow new pilots to pilot mechs in a non-competitive environment, learning the layout of maps as well as the finer points of operating a gigantic death machine before hopping into online battles.

Please elaborate on something for me, HSR.

1. Now if this is suppose to help correct latency issued players, wouldn't it be feasible to have EU players playing on their own servers?

2. Is it just to help the general consensus at the moment until EU servers are implemented, and to balance the light mech use by those with high pings.

3. Is it because the mechs travel so fast that the targetting is disrupted?

It seems to be a combination of both mech travel speed AND lag. you just don't notice issues when a mech is moving slowly, even if they are lagged.

State rewinding is a required process (every server-authoritative game has a similar form of lag compensation) regardless of where the server is located. Even when the EU gets it's own server, some people will still have more lag than others, and the game engine will still have trouble with anything traveling at 150 kph.

1. New Mech designs. This game has the best overall mech design I have personally ever seen in a battletech game. For example, I never liked the Atlas until now .. it looks like the beast it is. Raven looks damn slick, also the Hunchback ... I mean really, all the mechs look badass. Straight up.

2. Sound design. PPCs sound great, love firing in chain fire, PULSE LASERS, 'nuff said. Bitchin Betty sounds great, and every weapon has a unqiue sound, you can tell what your teammate is shooting beside you without knowing his loudout or looking at him for that matter.

3. THE FREAKIN GAME HAS BEEN FUN FROM THE START. Why are there so many people still playing since Closed Beta? Because theyre masochists? No, because they are having a good time. If you arent, go cut yourself, its a quicker way to endure your own pain. I haven't been this hooked on a game in a while, and by the looks of many player stats, neither have many others.

4. Consistent development. I've only been playing since July, and WOW, its been great to be a part of such a fertile, ongoing game development. The game has changed so much, and so much has been added, if you extened the time frame by as far as we've come, the future looks bright.

5. Community communication. I have never witnessed a development team so open about their dev process and upcoming changes. I remember when gamers had to just shut up and wait for the developers to finish making the game. LOL. We get constant updates, and input into the creative process? Geez, we are a lucky group of players ...

6. 7. 8 etc. - Cockpit design, player reimbursement, never being P2W, I am getting tired of typing. You only wanted one.

I could care less what people's personal opinions are, even my own opinion isnt worth jack sh*t. The proof is in the pudding, yummy, delicious mech pudding. With laz0rz.

PGI doesnt need defending, but you, sir, need shutting up.

That's the ETA for the "in-game menu options" for changing display settings and controls during a match.

So umm training grouds... Seriously PGI. Why can't you make a multiplayer version of those? Just like training mode in WoT. What's the problem? It would give us custom matchmaking, a better way to test various game mechanics and so on and so on. Why singleplayer only?

I'm sure they have a reason. Private matches is something they DO want to implement at some point, and it clearly isn't ready yet.

666, or should I say DCLXVI. why are you even here?
You seem to dislike the game and most things about it, so I ask, why are you here? Are you that bored, or lifeless, that you you have nothing better to do?

Clearly the game is in development and Beta. Many things will be introduced and changed and changed again.

There are many people that like the game and support what is happening here. You, yourself bought a founders pack.

So why troll all these folks?

I personally look forward to every patch, for the new content, the changes, the fixes, and there are usually some surprises included. These guys (the Devs) arent required to tell us a thing, but they do and they do listen to constructive posts.

Redshift has done a good job of combining all the data into a single area for us that are too lazy or dont have time to go thru many different posts. I look forward to his posts to get a summarized peek at what might be coming.

Go troll some kids or go play a different game if you are not happy with this one, but drop all the negative crap.
