Someone suggested that instead of zooming in (which reveals 'Mechs such as Commando, Catapult etc., so nothing new), we should zoom out. I tried it and it actually DOES look like something. When you make the size about 50% smaller, you can see a Dragon-like 'Mech composed from the small pictures; even the much brighter ones seem to match the rest, as if the 'Mech was standing in very bright sunlight. I don't recognize the 'Mech however.
Please note: this may be just my imagintaion...

I still find it strange that if you look at the source code for http://mwomercs.com/artemis you see a lot of references to static.mwomercs.com/img. Something is going on, and I wish I knew exactly what.

Edit:
http://static.mwomer...n/jquery.min.js This is the java script that is controlling the image reveal, if can figure out how it works we may be able to access the image early.

Yea, I have to agree, I think the key is in the bright lines. Also it appears to me, the whole thing is just part of a bigger image slowly zooming out and showing a bigger area from picture to picture. This is supported by the fact that the "boxes" in the picture get smaller.
I wouldn't be surprised if the bright lines formed some kind of symbol or emblem in the final picture, with a background comprised of a mosaic of the yet revealed mechs.

This sounds the most plausible to me. I've put the 4 available pictures side by side in tabs and there is a definite progression in size both of the mosaic tiles and the curved hilights from bigger to smaller. I would say it's zooming out and panning, with probably a key word (name or title) that will be revealed soon. It's definitely more than a placeholder image!

notepad++ ftw! Of course it's not formated nicely when copied from a browser... I oughta be able to dl it clean though.

:edit:
It's a fancy bit of work - can't dl it clean, so gotta use npp to try and clean up the formatting. It looks like it operates a panning function on a source image.

Why would it be another mech release? They didn't have make a huge deal out of the last 10 they did, so why start now, just to reveal the Mad Cat or whatever you guys think it's going to be?

It's an ARG. That means "alternate reality game" and it's a viral marketing scheme used by people who want to directly target the paranoia of their fanbase.

See: Bungie, Halo 2 ARG "I Love Bees" - http://en.wikipedia....iki/I_Love_Bees
Valve, Portal 2 ARG - http://half-life.wik...wiki/Portal_ARG

This is reminding me heavily of the Portal 2 ARG, although it seems much simpler and smaller scale than that one.

The Portal 2 ARG actually had players digging through game files, converting audio signals into CCTV output, stitching together data, and decrypting files.

I dont think it is a mech. why look forward to something to looks forward to? I think it is the shrunken web-based Mechlab that was discussed in an erlier Dev Blog.

Well, if it is a 'Mech, the reason for all the hoopla would be that the 'Mech would be something unexpected or a very big deal.

Say one of the Unseen or a Clan machine.

I mean, for all we know its a view of Huntress (where the Outbound Light discovered Clan Space).

static.mwomercs.com is where the website draws most of it's imagery on here. Almost all image files originate here. As far as the image displayed, from what I can tell it isn't actually an original image being distorted but rather a single image by itself. Therefore I don't believe your best efforts at 'decrypting' will work since there isn't any decryption to be had.

Could be wrong tho. I only glanced through it

That JS file is going to be a pain in the neck to parse. I saw a few .scroll functions and some other document position functions that got me excited, but with a closer look this is what I can tell you - the code is extremely unuser friendly (looks machine generated). It accepts a number of parameters, including parameter "a" which appears to be the document being operated on. There are numerous functions affecting text case (lowercase() and camelcase() etc).

Honestly, you could change the image using js easily enough, but it doesn't look like this is it. It'd be much easier (and more secure) to do it serverside with php.

I like the idea of the mechlab, personally ;) Though I would LOVE to see some unseen! I wanna play with a Warhammer so bad....

And by the time you do this, the timer will have run out anyway ;) patience is a virtue?

They are 'release' style jQuery scripts. Not meant to be easily parsable and usually a set library of calls. Seriously doubt there is anything of import hiding in there.
Considering the name of the image presented as the 'encrypted' image, there is most likely a hidden image resource being used as a base source and manipulated by the script calls into a new image at intervals. It would be a massive bit of overkill to try anything more than speculate and wait out the remaining timer.

edit: the new image has me thinking the white lines are a Comstar watermark.

Those white rings still look like Radar/Sensor indicators like some games use..

Artemis has started glitching for me, the seconds units glitch and then turn black. Did someone fudge with their .js file?

Just reloaded fine for me. There is a behind the scenes set of scripts delivering the page fresh each time (with a correct from server timer) so you may have had a hiccup in your page delivery.

In Chrome it even formats the page source all purdy like. You can see this first hand by loading the page and viewing the source. Keep that source page open. Wait a minute or two, refresh the page and view source again.

Line 16 on both of those page sources is a comment giving the time delivered by the source scripts at the time you loaded the page. It is also the base for the timer to count down from that you see on the page itself.

edit: As a thought; if the page still seems wonky to you, try a forced refresh (Ctrl + F5 on most browser)

From what ive been able to tell, all the bits n' pieces of mechs are overlaying the real image we are trying to decipher, but hey i could be wrong.
(PS. Hope its a Vulture)

It's NOT a clan mech. Stop it! Clan invasion isn't even due (periphery action) until at least August at minimum. I think the devs are going to hold on to the clan mechs for a bit first.

Maybe a reveal of an unseen? It would be a pretty big announcement for E3 :) Here's hoping anyway
