Yeaaaah. That's not true.

There is literally no way you PUG'd your way into a 6.7 KDR with the 1C.

It's good to know that I am trying to communicate with a delusional halfwit though. Who is also a total douche, no less. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Where did I say I pugged all of that? Talk about delusional, reading comprehension is your friend. But that makes my point even stronger. The fact that I use the mech in 8 mans successfully can only bolster my argument that the mech isn't obsolete. Oh and for the record, my k/d ratio with the 1C is 8, not 6.7

Ignoring that you basically are telling me about your 8 man statistics (lol), in which the practical use of statistics are effectively totally destroyed (even assuming the numbers you told me were real, which, lol, just lol), let's focus on that KDR.

So what you are saying is that when you told me, in no uncertain terms, that your K-D was 95-14, you just straight made that up out of thin air as a total lie?

Cool. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Why don't you go work out your story and come back when you've got one where the numbers match up, k?

(Don't go to the trouble, though. I'm just going to ignore you, on account of the fact that you're about as thick as a pallet of bricks and as charming as one too.)

He didnt say it was KDR.... maybe he was giving his win/loss record?

Fang, Flame and 1C are really great mechs after the recent missile nerfs.

But all but Flame will be bad again, once missiles are getting buffed again.

I enjoy being experienced at piloting this mech. I have mastered all 5 and will continue to use this mech for a long time. In fact, I'm not sure when I'll find a mech to take it's place.

The one thing that all DRG have going for it is that it is fun. I just wish it were more effective.

Just to lay this topic dead: there is no competitive play!! PPL trick themself that their 4 man pugstomps are competitive play. PPL dare not play 8man premade cuz they might lose ( 2much ecm etcetcetc)

I have played dragon alot in mwo, its a fine tool of destruction, and i have a high k/d and w/l ratio only doing pugs!!!!! IF there have been competitive play i can see your point but for the last time THERE IS NO COMPETITIVE PLAY, play the mech u wanna have fun with, and u can have fun with them all!!, not tried the spider myself think it would be boring though ;)

@Noobzorz, sure fine u dont like dragons and u think its not good enough for u as other mechs are. if u think dragons are niche what about centurions? they have very similar weapon loadouts but the dragon has ballistics in all of its variants in addition to more lasers (and particularly theyre on the arms of the dragon which i better than the cents torso lasers). sure cents can zombie around and i know this but theyre not good candidates for big XL engines on those huge sides. cicadas have a lot of speed but theyre still just as easy to hit as the dragon with the oversized torso sections. spiders can kick *** in the hands of a good player... in fact any mech in the hands of a capable pilot are good no matter what they are and i think thats the point ur missing here.

dragons are harder to pilot than other mechs and is a known fact. if ur too slow / stand still / brawl / dont know how to torso twist to spread damage chances are ur gona get cored. cats have a big head hitbox but they got scary firepower to back them up + a decent XL engine for speed. phracts have a lot of tonnage to spare for big burst damage weaponry and same goes for jagers. but all of those heavy mechs have a harder time retreating, flanking or going from point to point which the dragon excels at (cats can go fast too but not as fast as this). like i said a few pages back they can only bring enough firepower as a medium can but theyre all accurate pinpoint weapons which is actually just as effective as any heavy firepower based mech.

if ur still not convinced then its fine everyone has their preferences after all.

Your mileage may very, but if you can put shots on target at long ranges (the AC/2 has a whopping optimal range of 720m and has an insane max range of 2160m) I believe that the 3xAC/2 Dragon is a real monster (89kmph with speed tweak to boot!).

Let me know what you think. I'll be interested to hear if you thought I was correct. Either way I'll probably learn something.

I just played a few games with the 3x AC2 DRG-5N. I think it can be a very effective mech, both games were above 400 in damage and I was in the top 3 for score. I'm using an XL360 however since I just nabbed it from my other Dragon. I think the XL300 would be better suited to this build and allow for more ammunition (I ran out on Alpine). I think I still prefer the 4 Mlas and Gauss or even a UAC5 to the AC2's. Too bad the 5N can't dual UAC5s!

One of the bigger advantages of the Dragon was that you could use it as anti-light, and it could intercept and win knockdown incaps against lights while trading against heavier opponents. It could do all that while mounting a standard engine with more armor and speed than a medium.

It's not bad now, but it's really not a super competitive mech. If you want to go generalist and learn the entire game in a mech, the Dragon is a fantastic candidate. It will teach you all weapon types and give you enough speed+armor to survive. If there's ever a push for more medium/heavy type mechs in the field it may see some more use. The newest batch of STD dragons (via the Flame) can be fairly mean. If you're playing PUG the higher XL series engine will do you much better.

Wow guys - let's calm it down a bit. We all know this chassis is not "optimal" but again every mech is capable in the right hands. I personally favor the 1C, and do not find it "trash". In the stats since they started collecting them I have a 5 KDR (25 kills, 5 deaths) and I exclusively am pugging. My other mechs are all around 1.5 - 2 (except the darn spiders... other than 5D). I use the 4 LL build with a SSRM thrown in for kicks, pinpoint damage and on great spots for sniping - the high shoulder for peeking and left arm for corner dodging.

But i took a long time to find and perfect this build long before they tracked stats on a chassis basis. It is not a forgiving mech but once you got it and realize you are NOT a brawler then you can melt some armor - granted people may ignore me too long for their own good cuz the think its "just a dragon", but results are results.

Anyhow - let's please keep it civil guys - I hate to see two people who both obviously enjoy the game and are passionate about it going at each other so hard. Really beyond what needs to be in here. Please agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Tell it to the guy who decided to throw a bunch of insults then conveniently forgot they ever happened before doing his best Virgin Mary impression (because it's Easter, apparently). The laughable line about proof was good for a lark, though, I'll give him that (I still firmly believe he pulled numbers out of his butt and we will never see that stat screen on account of the fact it is fictional, though I wouldn't mind being wrong).

I am not missing this point at all. It's not really important that I get it, however, because this point misses the whole concept of gameplay balance. Spiders can kick *** in the hands of a good player. . . playing against an inferior player. But what happens if you use a spider against people of comparable skill is that you get legged by streaks and killed more often than not. What you want is the long run performance of a specific mechanic in specific skill categories. After all, I'm sure it's possible to take a 6 MG Jager out and run riot with it if the matchmaker is especially kind.

As for the specifics of the dragon, torso twisting and staying mobile is all well and good, and I know how to do that, but these pay better dividends elsewhere. The DRG needs a little help at this point. I'm not saying take it back to the chalk board, but maybe change the RT LT hitboxes so that they aren't so easy to core.

Bwahahaha... The dragon? Terrible? I love the dragon and do very well in it. Drg 1C- 5N Flame and Fang are all very fun to drive.

My Flame is probably my favorite mech of all... (almost)

I've always enjoyed playing the Dragons. I currently run a Flame with 4xMed, lasers, an LBX10 and an SRM6.

I do great with it in two particular roles. Chasing off light mechs and flanking the enemy to disrupt and often kill thier LRM boats and snipers.

If those jobs aren't present, or are already accomplished, it makes a great back shooter. I wait for a teammate to engage a mech, then slip around behind and unload.

Even with an XL320 engine, I find that my survivability is quite good, due to speed and manueverability,

I really don't understand all the dng hate...
I mastered all of them, the flame is my favorite;
running an xl360 w/ guass rifle and 4 MLs.
Averaging about 600 DMG in pug matches,
but upper 800-900s are not rare.

This is the core of the matter - the chassis we can have fun on but in competitive play is considered below par - the same pilot could do more in a Catapult is basically the argument. Finding some love for the chassis in terms of torso twist or "xyz" or "abc" factor (don't want to get into specifics at this point) to give it distinct advantages and make it worth taking at least in certain situations. PUG play is one thing, 8 v 8 and CW in the future will be another. While we are at it - let's get some MG buffs too lol... I think rain does more damage than they do in their current iteration...

I think you'll find that the dragon's lack of popularity is all the proof you need as to whether it's 'fine' or not. Jenners are directly tied to ravens. When the raven is strong, the jenner is weak, but you'll find them both out there.

Dragons? Oh my, I haven't seen those in forever. Maybe it's my elo standing that makes it so? But then there'd still be something wrong, if it only works down low.

aha so pretty much your saying I suck and thats why I think dragons are decent lol. nice.
