You'd have to have a high and tight camera aspect like right at shoulder level right behind the mech. Anything that frames the whole figure or views him from several meters out can be used to take advantage of the aspect, especially seeing around terrain and if there are enemies behind you.

And if you played MW4, you know the biggest gripe was often behind able to see OVER terrain in front of you, allowing you to hide your mech behind a hill in such a way that none of it was visible on the other side, but the 3rd person camera view was slightly higher than the top of the mech (which it sort of has to be in order to see over the mech), so you could see over the hill and know precisely when to pop out and ambush someone, and they'd also have their weapons already aimed at the correct location. Complete imbalanced advantage for the 3rd person view player.
Hey, I'd love to be able to see my own mech's camo and take glamour shots of it, but they can fulfill that by putting better camera controls and lighting in the mechlab where we select camo and colors, lighting, color filters from each of the maps, whatever. Make it a freaking photography studio in there, if they must. They just dont need to shove 3rd person view into the actual game.
