Video game awards get handed out by everyone, to everyone, nowadays. I'd say its rarer for a game NOT to get any awards.

And 200$ is nothing to some of the people on these forums apparently; I remember skimming a thread where people were gloating over how much MC they had spent so far... some of them were adding up to like $500+ worth. And not regretting a penny of it.

Here's the thing about poptarting right now - and why it doesn't get complained about on the forums all that often.

It's challenging.

It requires you to take a risk, find a target, line up a shot, fire, and then drop before you are hit - all in a small window and in a mech that isn't all that well optimized for brawling. It's very much risk reward, and requires a decent level of skill.

Allowing players 3rd person means that they can line up their shots ahead of time, know when it is safe or dangerous, know if the enemy is coming to rush you, and know where specific targets are -- all before even jumping up.

I realize there are issues with it now, but 3rd person isn't the solution - it levels the playing field by giving everyone the same dramatic advantage while being punitive to things like strategy, teamwork, and good aiming.

Same theory I've held for a while: There's no "test" to it, 3rd person is coming and it's here to stay once it arrives, as was secretly planned all along. (See "no coolant flushes because it negates heat management" followed by "coolant flush module.")

But of course they've said they'll separate the queues so 1st and 3rd person players aren't in the same game...just like they said there'd be no coolant flushes.

If I remember correctly, that was from a third rate online magazine poll where one could vote over and over and over again. Cryptic even had a promotion and was awarding in-game currency and goodies to those that voted most through a link that they created in their own forums.

I voted over and over and over again for a game that wasn't STO because of it, and because those fanboys and white knights are even more rabid than here, there were people bragging about voting 100+ times. I also think the potential user base is a bit larger and since it's a mostly solo-Kirk game, they eat the pay2win up like heroin dusted candy.

It's notably easier than defending against it. assuming you have teammates you'll likely have a general idea where your target is before it knows where you are, and the window of time for counterattack is much smaller.

Third Person invalidates this as a sim, and since it is not a FPS, MMO, RPG once you take away sim it is only kiddies going bang bang.

I will just quit, if i wanted to play moron games I would buy a console.

In actual game NO! Please give us new game modes, new mechs, or the thing that was promised yet any sign of delivery has been wiped out. Community warfare? Is it really so much for us to ask? I seriously want to support you guys but allegations of MC "gold ammo" and now a confirmation that 3rd person is on it's way? That's too much for me to even handle. I support your current idea for consumables, even though coolant flush is a poor choice to start with. Please stop trying to make me hate you guys! I feel like this is turning into a toxic relationship. Why are you guys so intent on forcing something on the already dwindling community that we don't want? We're all in this boat together and it feels like you guys want it to sink.

Me and the boys have a couple toasters setup and we have a huge fresh batch of poptarts for everyone!

The cure to 3^rd person view is simple. Dont play, take 30 days or so off. If your in a guild encourage them to do the same. Once their core customer base jumps ship they back peddle fast. I know if it does get implemented that will be my last day. It wont be Mech warrior anymore and I'll move on to other games.
