If you are charging, it better be F**ing amazing, logistics, planetary conquest, I mean this better be unreal. If it is nothing but territory control like WOT, this will be MWO's death knell.

We had one... and it conflicted with what was said in the article. Even PP said that it was said in mistake and dont shoot him (a mod) for having said it.
Prosperity Park is a volunteer community moderator, not a member of the PGI staff. His comments later said that his information that was contradictory was from "way way back".
Volunteer community moderators are not privy to the the detailed plans for the game, and are not a definitive source of information.

consumables means P2W.... just speculation and haven't seen anyone guaranteed to wins when they carry the coolant gear.
however now we have
no F2P. want a fair chunk of the gameplay? then BUY premium time. so much for encouraging teamplay.
PGI you've got this arse up backwards haven't you? cadet bonuses meant you weren't retaining players well enough cause you didn't look after core material {stock loadouts} before going into open beta, all these mc sales meant you're still not making enough money but by making things cheaper in general. you'd have more sales to compensate {some hero mechs and stuff is still a mad price for a BETA game}, 3rd person is another attempt at more players into the game and now charging for gameplaying styles.
the writting's on the wall, the games going down the gurggler, they're trying everything they can to keep the monies afloat. i'm just going to put fingers in my ears and go la la la this isn't happening cause it shouldn't.

All the guilds planing on being merc units have to do is rewrite their history and make them a house unit.
WHY the hell does this kind information need to be found out from a 3rd party all the time?? why cant the game developers actually post usefull information on their OFFICIAL forums??
The only history rewriting that will be done is merc groups officially playing in other games that actually support player run groups rather than trying to chase them away from the game.

I'm going to use Diablo 3 as an example. I don't like Diablo 3. I think Blizzard has lost all touch with reality since Warcraft 3.
The real money auction house was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. This is what I mean about being creative for the money grab.
The people with more time than money - these people farm all day and night. Literally, they live in the game or spend huge chunks of time in it to get very rare and special items.
The people with more money than time - these people can't play for very long, but have a lot of disposable income. They purchase items from the former group for money.
Cha-ching! Blizzard just turned half of their player base into a massive work force without them ever realizing it. This is absolutely huge, and if I wasn't already out of college and done with my business courses, I'd be writing a pretty huge paper on it.
It's kind of like the jet engine of business modeling. You're literally tricking millions of people into making you money by playing a game. And everyone is happy with the model. One side gets paid for playing the game, the other gets to enjoy 100% of the game without a steep investment in time that they don't have. It's a subscription model without any subscriptions.
This is the hallmark of capitalism and the kind of creativity that PGI needs to employ with community warfare. Not ancient and antiquated subscription model(heck, even television, movies, music, literature and other entertainment industries are finding ways around it).

The only statement they have at the moment will kill them so like any good politician they will only respond when they think of something else we may be 'OK' with instead of the P2P plan.

I can see how they are trying to set up Merc Corps so that it would require some serious dedication, but some people that can put in the dedication do not have the cash and vice versa. I mean really, bidding on contracts, fighting to take a world, defending said world, and doing so every day in a serious fashion is going to require some serious time put in by both members and leadership. I do think however they are jumping the gun on this as payout and rewards help determine how committed people want to be and could potentially range from "Meh, I'll compete one night a week." to "I'm going to surgically graft this mouse to my hand!" Now that is commitment to cause. (I wonder how many people will actually get what I am referenceing with that last one?)

This is all your doing Prosperity Park. I don't know how, but I will find a way to pin all the blame on you! You know what I don't need a reason. I blame you because!

no ones blaming you humble mod, we're all just up in arms for two reasons...
one: bad ideas being announced that continiously contradict what they the devs said the game would be months ago.
two: they always and i mean ALWAYS make their announcements so late and obscure that only the few who read the back water comander chair gathering dust in hope for a good announcement comes to general forums with only terrible news. plus they always make key announcements when they're on holiday.

The corps CAN be monetized, and its probably for the better. But! Only for the clan creator, so there is indeed no 1 man, or spam clans.
The subscription model is just downright stupid. Only thing I'd pay that much for, is if I'd get access to ALL game content free of charge in return for my hard earned money paid subscription, and I'm pretty sure most wouldn't like that idea either.

Not to be rude but the greek gods are kind of infamous for the large amounts of well 'family love' if you get what i'm saying...
