It's surprising the number of spectators watching the last man standing don't grasp the simple concept of "divide and conquer." Also surprising, the number of "last man standing" who don't grasp it either and try to take out the medium mech while within range/LoS of the two assaults providing covering fire.

Wow, rage much?

And you don't find it ironic that you're dissing people for "stat padding" while simultaneously wanting what amounts to a free kill for someone on your team?

And sure, there's nothing to be gained from running; but then, what do you gain from fighing, or winning, or anything? Its just a game, and if you can't tolerate other people, play a single player one.

Yup, you've got nothing except to accuse me of raging. What about the people "raging" about people giving up their location, oh they are ok. Anyways, good to see you've got nothing and have to go to ad hominem attacks, why not go straight to calling me a ****?
I guess I hit close to home when I called you out for stat whoring. It's just a game and no one will judge you by your stats. If you can't tolerate other people you can always find a good single player game.

Actually, I have an 0.5 KDR, I;m playing devil's advocate because it doesn't bother me if people aren't willing to lay down and die.

Might have something to do with the fact that, unless you live in your parents basement, a lot of players have busy lives and limited time to play...

Spending 8 minutes waiting on a perfectly healthy powered down light hiding to keep their KDR Epeen at an acceptable level, makes me want to do violent things to humanity.

So you've never heard of this little device called the Beagle active probe? It's useful. Lets you target shutdown mechs and such.

Quite the handy little bit of kit, it be.

That is kind of a sad example XD. Although I find it odd that these people only have one mech they want to play. I also find it odd that no one just goes and caps.

But - you might consider stirring up a ruckus about having matches end after so much time with no contacts, or not binding mechs to a match they've died in now that the farming bots have died down.

Running and trying to cap win is totally acceptable.

Too bad lots of people still do it when they're down 6-1 and the enemy team controls all the points and are up 500-300 in points...

Those are the times when I get annoyed and say something in chat. It's often mathematically impossible to win given how long caps take and how fast your mech is...not to mention if the enemy has mechs left to cover points. Some people are INCREDIBLY bad at recognizing this type of situation.

Repair isn't in the game, so preserving your mech doesn't give you anything. This game is currently a "Win at all Costs!" scenario. Trying to "preserve your mech" is (usually) just an excuse for stat padding.

Fighting means you do damage and get more c-bills and xp. If you get a kill, you might even give your teammates extra c-bills and xp in the form of assists.

Winning gives you and your teammates significantly more c-bills and xp.

Capping does what winning does, but also gives you (and anyone who helped cap) an even more signficant c-bill and xp bonus

Running (if you're trying to string out the enemies to fight them 1 at a time, or if you're trying to cap) can lead to more of the above three, and I have no issue with it.

Hiding gives you nothing, gives your team nothing, and takes up more of everyone's time. (one exception being conquest hiding to win via points)

In the OP's second post, he mentions that eventually the enemy assaults went and capped to win, so it kinda sounds like he was just staying away and hid while he let them win, which is ********. If the assaults are trudging to your base, then cap their base in the meantime. If they split up so they can both defend and cap, then try to kill whichever one is by itself. If all else fails, and the enemy is about to win via cap, hop into your base and do as much damage as you can till you die. Doing so gives you (and possibly your teammates) a bigger reward.

However, for every person who hides to pad their stats, there is also a person who charges in and dies, then whines about their team without understanding that their team is still trying to win. It's annoying to watch someone hide just to pad their stats, but it's even more annoying to be playing to win while some dead teammate whines at you to give up already.

At that point, do what you got to do to win/live, but what got you there in the first place? Did you provide ECM support, pounce on there lights as they closed against your team, or provide effective scouting? Could be that even with your best efforts, your team was bested. Or, you could have just run off to be Hero Raven and left your mates in the lurch, like so many Rav pilots do. There is more, for or against, to your story.

I scouted the team TO the enemy and killed their -3L and some random cent.....all in the middle of the battle.

Mechwarriors are the absolute worst at back seat driving, but expecting sensible commentary in a PUG is really just crazy and you should be ashamed. ^_^

Wrong o.

Until the guy annoyed me I was baiting off a Pretty Baby that was pretty banged up with the intention of killing him and hoping the other two came along.

The fight wasn't far from our base to start with, so when I lost track of the pretty baby typing I said the hell with it and just trolled the dude until he rage dc'd. They hit the base as I passed mid-map looking so meh, charging a critical Raven into two stalkers and a pretty baby isn't going to accomplish much.

Not to mention if Senior Inadamnedhurry had done more than 60 points more damage than a Raven in his Jager mech, maybe I would have had a fight to stick around to.

This is the perfect thread to support the need for a Team Deathmatch game option. TDM is clearly a feature that is desired by most current players, much more than the 3rd person option that the imaginary majority of potential casual players supposedly is waiting for.

This again.

People can always quit and queue for another match.

Your mech is locked?

Pity.

Get two of your favourite rides or queue with another mech.

Hallelujah!! Someone else gets it. If you gents don't want to look at my "Happy New Year 3050" top hat while I wait for the 8 enemy battlemechs that you failed to damage try to take over my base, then EJECT.

Dont worry op, I kill 3 guys in a match and apparently im using an aimbot, reguardless of the fact im in a highlander sniping and the other mech is standing still at 600 meters :S

Sooner we can disable text chat in match the better given the IQ of some of the playerbase.

That was the funny part, I said "Ok lets count kills at the end of the match."

...instant disconnect.

The best part was being called afraid to fight when I was 3rd damage on the team with the most kills......

I had a match in Conquest were two idiots we chasing a stick Hunchback and left me in my Atlas to take out 2 Raven 3L at Kappa on Frozen City. I had already made 5 kills and was open in most spots. I managed to kill one of them, leg the other and then die. So I go to spectate to watch the idiots in a Stalker and Centurion chasing a stick around Eps and watched the scores ticking. So I chat to them "OMG stop chasing the damn stick and split up, go kill the legged Raven at Kappa!" to which I get the typical crap about me being dead and all. I had 900+ damage laid out and top of our team fo god sake! DO YOUR JOB and go kill the Raven! Instead they win on cap because I get stuck with two idiots that can't understand how to play. I get tired of this level of stupidity and really hate being called out on my game play abilities when I clearly am the best on the team and way better then the idiots! I feel your pain with that one.
