They just released the highlander, of course we'll have shitloads of jumpjetting snipers. This goes without saying, but use cover and ambush.

This is just like any other "issue" that has come up in the game since the beginning. It won't last. And to be honest, I haven't ran into it much at all. The Highlander is a new mech with jump jet capabilities and slots for PPC's and Gauss. It didn't take Nostradamus to see that this was going to happen. And it doesn't take him to realize that it won't last. If it's really killing the game for you then just take a break. This is almost always the answer, whether it was ECM or LRMfest, the best answer has always been, give the game a break. For me, I will play through it, develop tactics to combat it, and then be that much more prepared for when the situation is rare as opposed to common.
I understand the frustration of running into this tactic, especially when you get a whole team of "the flavor of the month", but it really isn't that bad. In a months time, this type of thread will be non existent, and there will be a whole new slew of threads complaining about PPC's not being strong enough.

After awhile people just get tired of it and start playing their other mechs

Cover and ambush won't do much btw. When lrm reigned supreme we could use cover and ambush to close distance and tear a distracted LRM boat apart. Now you close distance and if you survive the onslaught, guess what?, they still have ppcs and gauss that are still good enough to brawl against nerfed short range specialists, specially if they had been shot to pieces while trying to get close.

It will settle after people have Elited or Mastered their new Highlanders. The state/rewind really did help PPC and ballistics so it can make the sudden Poptart-O-Rama feel worse than it actually is. And doesn't the weight limit come to effect today so it can change the playing field somewhat. FOTM is a feature in every online game, just have to live with it or move on.

ppc's are fine jj sniping is fine. If you want to play something else do so. My corp has been tearing up some jump sniping teams by bringing half brawlers that sneak around while our snipers exchange shots with theirs.

What does your feeling say about shaking when pushing 90tons of metal in the air with jets? It should shake.
But with that much fotmplayers defending their new flavor mechs its hard to bring balance.....

The broken element right now is the meta.
The very first stat we were ever shown was
KDR.
Ever since then, this has been an individual game
instead of the team game it is supposed to be.
Had PGI built the game around the intended meta
and never published the KDR as a stat but
rewarded roles within the game such as scouting
I don't think we would be seeing the game we see
today.

Don't stand on the opposite hill and play their game. Play your game.
Improvise, adapt, overcome.

the Truth
What he said and also the proliferation of mechs and the use of weapons that makes that easy.
You can lead mechwarriors to the enemy but you can't make them kill them, or even flank, or focus fire, of hell even stick around for the whole fight.

Indeed competiton means theres only one winner and many sore loosers. So much for a team game.

The solution is forming a group of 4 light mechs and capping until the problem is resolved. You get the win and as a bonus you end up with an enemy team of really pissed off poptarts that can't get back to the base in time. It's a win + the satisfaction of making those ****** rage, what could be better in this game?
