1. PGI rationale isn't always right. These are the same people that believe in 3-second Jenners and devastating 6 MG Spiders.

2. You are taking the poll out of context because it's asking whether people want a full-auto MG or a burst-fire MG (mechanic of the SPL). It has nothing to do with damage or crit-seekingness.

1. I never said that PGI rationale was always right, I was actually being sarcastic.

2. I am responding to other responses to the poll, not the poll itself.

You are not at a disadvantage, you had 1.5 tons left to use up and you filled that space with a MG and a ton of ammo, so you can do two more damage every second than you would be able to do if you had not spent that 1.5 tons on the MG and ammo. Actually in most games that I play, spiders last longer and do more damage than any Raven, since they can jump so far and are so small and hard to hit. So, since you believe that your speculative information is more accurate than mine, that makes me uninformed?

What? No. Go drive a spider 5k. No lasers allowed. Gee, I sure feel dumb for taking machine guns, aka the only stupid ballistic I can actually fit without sacrificing basically everything.

and that would be a problem why?

and which laser weapon would they be on par with? also in a computer game based around skill and fun.

Two pieces of equipment with the same weight and critical slot usage should be at similar effectiveness.

He was saying to equal their dmg to small lasers, but without any heat build up. Sure it takes ammo but the benifits the machine gun would have over the small laser would out weigh the risks big time.

I do how ever believe that they should be usefull.

Anyone remember loading up battlemaster and Masakari's I think it was in MW 4 with machineguns. 14 MG's could shred hehe

MWO mgs don't work like MW4 MGs. Especially with hard point system we use.

Even if a MG did double the damage over time of the small laser. Due to the cone of fire (mg are NOT pinpoint accurate) the damage would be spread all over the enemy mech making the higher dps of the MG less valuable than the pinpoint fire of SL's

Hahahaha Thats your argument a PPC mounted mech with a MG thrown on?

CDA-3C - The -3C Cicada is an attempt to allow the 'Mech to have a much greater reach with devastating results. To do this, the maximum speed has been reduced to 118.8 kph and the Medium Lasers have been replaced with two Machine Guns and the Small Laser has been replaced with a PPC. BV (1.0) = 656, BV (2.0) = 771 [1]

SDR-5K - The -5K Spider removes one of the Medium Lasers and replaces it with two arm mounted Machine Guns for anti-infantry use. To make room for its Machine Gun ammunition the 'Mech sacrifices 60 meters of its jump capability. [5] BV (1.0) = 433, BV (2.0) = 503[6]

Yeah, not so much, where you pull this BS from?

Gray Death Memory Core[/url]. The DD replaces the standard engine with an XL model and converts the armor to Ferro-Fibrous, adding an additional half-ton. The Mydron Medium Autocannons are replaced by General Motors Nova-5 Ultra Autocannon, and the Magna standard lasers are replaced with Sutel Precision Line Medium Pulse Lasers. CASE is mounted in both side torsos to protect the ammunition, with the AC/2 ammunition moved to the left torso to take advantage of this. The original design's single heat sinks are retained. BV (1.0) = 713, BV (2.0) = 965[5]]

I'm done wasting my time with you as you cannot even fact check your own BS.

I agree, but make them to powerful and now you have light mechs humping your mechs legs stripping armour at an alarming rate....

Then take a SL and a heatsink instead of a MG and a ton of ammo, if it is superior. If you run a mech that can only mount ballistics, then get a mech that can mount the type of weapons you want.

Stock mech configurations are your argument.

What a mouth breather.

Hard point system limitation.

What part of this don't you understand.

Again I ask myself why I bother to argue against people like your self who clearly put in absolutely no effort.

Are you here to troll or do you actually intend to engage in the material intelligently?

The problem with this Ed is that the hardpoint system prevents this. My spider cant just put small lasers in the arms. Trust me, I would. And this is what we are trying to avoid: having useless variants that people just grind to get over with and then never use again. That's the kind of content you don't want in your f2p game. We are trying to prevent this.

no obviously it's because we are selfish players that don't know how to play the game and want pgi to make things easy for us (What every mouth breathing guppy thinks when seeing buff mg threads)

It is a 35 ton unit with 2 ballistic hardpoints. You're going to have to sacrifice something if you want anything bigger than MGs in there.

40-ton unit with 4 ballistic hardpoints. Same issue as Raven 4X.

If you check the Sarna page of those Machine Guns it says they do 2 damage to mechs in TT and are fully capable of stripping mech armor. MGs might be better against infantry than mechs, but they can still hurt mechs.

Good luck filling up all 6 ballistic hardpoints with AC/2's and still having good ammo/armor/heat efficiency/anything.

My facts are based on their in-game hardpoints. Your "facts" are based on stock loudouts that nobody uses. Normally I try to take a more diplomatic approach, but I'm getting impatient here and want to throw in an ad-hominem. Play the mechs above for a little while and come back to this thread. Get your head out of your rear-center torso and smell the damn roses.

What is the point of having variants at all, if all the variants could mount the same weapons?

What is the point of having variants at all, if all but one of the variants is garbage?

but no clearly you are an example of what i described one post up.

Not everyone has amazing ping. My C1 has issues with lights, with only 3ML for close combat and a ping of 250, lights can tear chunks off me if I get caught off guard.

Funny in 1990 I was Battletech TT Champion of Origins Annual SciFi Convention in New Orleans. Guess thats showing my geek side.

I think you peops are confusing later tech upgrades to MG with the timeline we have now. MG's were Worthless In Battletech and City Tech. Period.

do you have a lot of packet loss? because I play with 105 ping roughly and lasers are hitscan for me.
