The Jager A
seriously, that mech gives me nightmares sometimes....
here's why:
You have Missile points on the Arms double lrms and the typical AC of your choosing
Effectively you are Long Range Glass Canon....No you say? I have SRMS?
good luck brawling because you only have rougly 250 armor A Hunchback is going to out brawl you AND Out run you.... All Srms You say? well THe Awesome can out run you has more armor and hardpoints and STILL Has room left for missiles, not to mention the Dragon can hit and run better.
ACK -40 is the build you result to macking the Jager A no less different from everybody else, While a viable Build everyone just BANZAI charges in it to get a 1:1 KDR not helping the team.
So you go back to Stock Lrms and a the double Auto canons of choosing. Again a nightmare because all they have to do is bum Rush you, and if you're relying on SRMS for close quarters you're dead anyway because other mediums and lights and heavies out maneuver you...
so....
WHY JAGER A?! WHY!? WHEN HBK-4J DOES IT BETTER?!
Using a JM6-A without streaks is doing it wrong. It is the only way to make use of every harpoint on the Mech, and without using every hardpoint, there's no point in going with this thing over other variants (for this one, anyway).
Ever tried it with 2 UAC 5's and 4 SSRM2's? As long as you're good at hitting CT's with the UAC5's, this thing is pretty killer. At present, the SSRM2's are basically CT seekers. IMO, it's far and away the best Jaeger. Prior to the ELO fix (which was a time, where, once you reached the top distribution, there was no ELO), I had over 50 games in the thing, with a 5+ KDR and 5+ WLR. It was insanely powerful using a UAC macro to never jam, and the streaks allowed me to focus on aiming only the ballistics.
The heat efficiency was the most killer part of it: you can unload 240 damage in 14 seconds without overheating, and given the CT grouping of the streaks, it's usually enough to kill 2+ Heavies. I ran several games where I died rather quickly in the initial part of the engagement only to find that I had done 350+ damage and had 2+ kills.
The ones I couldn't stand were the two non-3L Ravens and the non-2D Commandos. I absolutely hated those, especially since I didn't know that I didn't have to elite them in order to master the 3L and 2D.
