It's Mechwarrior with mechlab that isn't restrictive enough and 100% convergence at all times...
There is no way you can balnce it.

That's a great hope, but I don't see how it's remotely possible to have canon 'Mechs balanced against customized machines.

I am requesting that we all treat the OP's suggestion more seriously, and please keep our comments on-topic.
Down the road, the Developers will be adding in more Game Modes, for instance they have mentioned that they want to add a Solaris-type Colosseum fighting mode, and other modes will come too. A Stock-Only mode might be interesting.
(Note - The Poll is obviously not serious, though, so anyone can feel free to discuss that particular quirk of this Suggestion thread).
I don't think it was rude at all. It was abrupt, certainly, but expressed...in as minimalist a fashion as possible...a "No, we have something that I think is equivalent already". I disagree with him, since there are no "trial only" battlefields, but still...it wasn't rude.
To the OP's suggestion:
First, I'm not in favor of diluting the available pool by arbitrarily adding new options until the population is certain to support it.
Second, if the overall game population supported it, would the juice be worth the squeeze (I understand that's why you have the poll up)? In other words, will enough people play that mode to have made it worth the time to code and implement? Which leads me to...
Third and most important to me, it's more complicated than just adding a new mode...it's the code to revert mechs to "stock" and back again seamlessly and with 0 chance of error. With 0 chance of error. The first time someone's heavily tricked out mech that set them back a bunch of coin fails to come back from "stock" properly the roof's going to be raised. That means this is not just a trivial flick of a switch and a few lines of code. Is that really what the community wants them spending resources on?

Obvious you do not have a history with the MW franchise. The Planetary and Ladder Leagues all had, from time to time, stock mech drops. The better pilots were successful in either a stock or custom mech. And trial mechs are not garbage, you're just a bad pilot who can't work with what he's thrown into. I have had great success piloting Trial mechs and wish MW:O would have a tournament using just those for pilots who want a challenge. Get a team all piloting Trial mechs and I bet they will be successful.
Think you're the **** in MW:O with a fully customized mech? Try your skill out with a stock configuration. Drop the hubris and learn to be humble.
Yup, you see who the true elite are on a level playing field.

stock mechs wouldn't make for a level playing field. that is why battletech used the battle value system. despite that i think this mode could be fun once in a while AND it might shut up the OCD tabletop purists out there.

Sounds like a fun addition to the game, if you lack c-bills you can even roll out in a your new shiny with no endo or doubble sinks and not become totally irrelevant.
I really like this idea!

We are mor than 3oo active players in our german Tournament, so i think this is something which is really interesting. Specially if you got frustrated of those ER-PPC/Gaus buils everywhere. With Stock Mechs everbody has to watch his Heat and Ammo Managment. This is Battletech as its best. Many close and thrilling games so far.

I can tell you, every single person or unit who are playing the tournament gives pax and me the same feedback: "Had since CB not so much fun...this is awesome"..and more..
its a different type of playing. You think twice if you fire missiles or ACs or not, Heat is muchmore a factor on the maps and if you standing in water because double heatsinks are not in the legs. And i totaly agree with this feedback from our community, this is the pure fun. Very hard and close Battles, like Nainkonami said.

Even if it does favor certain mechbuilds, granted (you wont find many Jaegers out there for example), it is grittier, less forgiving and above all way less boaty.
Wich to me is good.
Cheers

Sounds great but how do you know peops aren't running around with endo and DHS?
also the thread is in german so it pretty much precludes the rest of us.

No surprise, Hence my thread to remove DHS. Unfortunately the vast majority on here are children that lack the analytical capabilities to comprehend the connotations of such.

There's a risk inherent in using polysyllabic words with the intent to sound superior; it's incumbent upon the person attempting to inflate their ego by doing so to actually use said polysyllabic words properly.

This would be a major concern for any type of competitive play. That is why I tried to get semi-stock games going but I couldn't generate enough interest as PGI moved it from the general discussion board to fansite jumpship:

I didn't say that at all. Maybe you should re-google. AFA trying to sound superior by using BIG words, It is actually a way to ferret out the morons who have to google to find meanings behind carefully selected vocabulary and fail at it. Notice I said "BIG" so that you would not have to do a search.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to roll in a stock mech. As the Trial Mechs show, they are absolute garbage. Customizing mechs to suit individual preferences is the great thing about MWO. Without it, MWO loses a lot of its appeal, at least for me.
While agree with your comments regarding trial mechs - i think this mode would also be good for to players who dont have many C-Bills and players who are starting up or new to the game - going up against cheese and going against the pro's would be pretty daunting for a player who never played before - of course that said, elo... ...wont even get into elo. 90% of matches are still pugstomps.. ..back on tangent, the OP want a mode that is more in line with lore e.g. No cheese, more specific builds e.g. a catapult is a catapult and not a jager! lol
