Or is not acceptable for Misery?

Only if you want to nuke yourself to kingdom come, then it's acceptable.
This is basically a brawler, and in such a thingy XL is just pegging for trouble.

Hands down ist has to be this one;

MISERY

It has the bigest reactor (standard, so that it wont be taken down through a side torso destruction), nearly max armor, a full weapon loadout, has a range up to 750 meters, deosnt have problems with too little ammunition (also protected by CASE) for the ammunition based weapons and best of all... it even has the overpowered command console.

Already spend my allowed quota of MC, will have to wait for next paycheck.
Planning to build something like this, nothing too fancy.

MISERY
Swapped the Gauss for an AC/20 w/4t
Add an AMS w/1t
Downgrade the SRM6 to SRM4
Powered by a STD280
with 512 Amour

Something I came up with, mid-long range support/limb surgeon:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b05402b5346d870

Otherwise...Idunno. It would seem a waste not to use the ballistic point, which makes this one unique to other Stalkers. So AC/20 or Gauss seem obvious choices.

This might also work maybe as a brawler:

An improvement on one I'd mentioned earlier.

The Misery is definitely a brawler.

AC/20, MLs, LPL . . . so much wreck.

But it does have the same problem all stalkers have - total lack of maneuverability. With this mech more than any other, you absolutely cannot be caught alone.

I recommend this one:

MISERY

Advantages are:

- Misery Quirks and 300Std results in decent mobility

- Gauss for very long range combat
- LLas and Gauss for medium range combat
- LLas, MLas and gauss for short range combat

- High DPS eats through enemies fast
- High pinpoint damage (decent aim needed)
- Decent Alpha of 43 Dmg

- Enough ammo for firing Gauss shots without hesitation
- Heat friendly
- High armor rating

Disadvantages are:

- Gauss is likely to explode (though Case stops spreading to CT)

- No AMS

- No BAP

Conclusion:

A mech that can hold its own in many situations. Decent sniper, good Mid Range fighter and excellent brawler. Matches so far prove that this loadout is lethal and i havent even got the efficiences yet. Arguably Gauss is a weakspot that can be exploited. So far i havent noticed any critical Gauss explosions (~8 matches). Worst case scenario is focused fire on your LT, popping the Gauss and losing the side + arm. Case will at least protect your CT and RT.
It hasnt happened so far, but chances are it wil happen.

AMS is a nice to have, however this loadout doesnt utilize it. In fact you will rarely see any of my mechs carrying AMS. Thats because i consider it to be a waste of critical slots and tons more often than not. This may change when Missiles get buffed again.

Definately one of the better Misery builds out there.

Quite honestly. I've not been able to make any build that stands out from the rest in any significant way. I did just get some good matches in with this build though.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...674c0ca67ddf0ed
Averaging about 2 - 5 Kills with around 400 - 500 Damage a match.

Easy to pilot. Lacking some hard point weapons.
I have yet to find a perfect balance in between heat and function for more energy weapons

Please leave suggestions if you have any!

If you want to run a little more heat you can add to Medium Lasers, take away one DHS and one ton of AC20 ammo. Raises alpha a bit.

Two bits. Gauss on misery is a bad idea. Never combine it with an XL. I try to stray away from it all together because of how big the LT Hardpoint is. And, speed is a MUST with this mech. A slow stalker is easily solo-able by one light.

It's interesting that a lot of Misery builds are basically smaller versions of Atlas builds. Same weapons, but a bit faster, with less armor. Then again, what does the Misery do better than an Atlas, except bring an extra energy hardpoint and have weapons mounted high enough to snipe well?

I went through about a dozen builds before I settled on one that worked for me. I'd really rather have LLs and get the SRM6 back but for now this build has been successful.

Yeah, after some play time, I really don't think a Gauss is a good idea if you PUG. Although I've not run a Gauss build yet, I've lost my (relatively sturdy) AC/20 more often than I thought I would. I think a Gauss + XL would be an easy one shot kill for some of the high alpha snipers out there. In any case, losing your ballistic makes the Misery into an inferior Stalker, so you really need to protect your left side.

Nice high Alpha strike, but in a scrum, this version will run HOT!

In my case i never thought about Atlas builds when creating the Misery i posted before. I just take what works in as many situations as good as possile, has decent speed, very good heat management and a good Dps.
It seems the Atlas pilots agree with my loadout then ;)

Regarding your question about the Stalkers advantage: Its the feeling i guess. The Stalker just suits me best. Its the mech in which i feel comfortable and blast enemies to pieces. The Atlas is not. It may also be, because i dislike the Atlas horizontal convergence problems of Arms/Torso that any mech with horizontal moveable arms share.

Towards all the people worrying about Gauss in Stalker Side Torso:
Its really not that bad. I played like 12 matches so far, all went very good with the build i posted. Best one got 950 Dmg without breaking a sweat. Wasnt even a very impressive match imho.
So far Gauss was very reliable and i got no problems. May be luck however. Putting much armor in the front also helps (i go with 62 to 64 Side Torso armor for the front)

I love this mech as a brawler, and I also cut on leg armor, but I'd be afraid for my legs vs. lights on that loadout, but I'm sure most would disagree.

Fox Die,

Try this version, runs cooler, nearly same damage, no anti-missile, 2 extra DHS
