1) Clan pilots will start with a non omni mech (a IIC version of the IS mechs)
2) The clan economy will be based on honor points for doing honorable stuff in battle
3) Yes the MC costs will be rediculous

No.
Second-line mechs are... well... second line. The invasion is full of front-line mechs, because those are what you send in your front line.
Besides, they're not going to release a dozen second-line mechs right off the bat, along with several Omnis, just so people have something to drive while they grind for an Omni. There's a time-line, and mechs that aren't even seen until after Tukayyid are NOT going to be the first mechs seen in-game.

Your statement above is false. If only Clan players can use Clan mechs, there will only be Clan players. IS numbers will drop off like a rock with only the hardcore BT purists who prefer IS; that's less than half the BT purists. ALL of the "Regular Players" (read: Non-BT people who just like Mechwarrior but don't really care a lot about the story/background) would go Clan, because why the hell would you choose to only use the crappy mechs?
As such, it's extremely likely that everyone will have access to clan tech in some manner.

And that's assuming you can start as clans, which I HIGHLY doubt you will be able to.

I would love this...and I would not move 'up' to an Omni for a very, very long time, since every mech in the game is almost an Omni already. We can switch weapons, armor, engines, heat sinks, and even the structure of the chassis itself, instantly...which was one of the main advantages of the omnimech.
Highlander IIC? Yes, please.

Despite their flexibility and maintenance benefits, OmniMechs have distinct limitations in regard to cost and logistics.
OmniMechs are not fully modular. An OmniMech's structural components: its engine, internal structure, armor and any equipment installed on the base chassis of OmniMech are "hard-wired" and cannot be modified outside of a total redesign of the 'Mech. While customization of these components is theoretically possible in the field, it is avoided as it hard-wires all the 'Mechs components and effectively transforms it from a OmniMech into a standard BattleMech. While they can be considered structural components, the lower-arm and hand actuators are themselves pod-mounted and easily removed to provide additional pod-space in the arms. However the mounting points for them are also utilized by larger bore weaponry such as Gauss Rifles, Autocannonsand PPCs and so must be automatically removed to carry these weapon types an OmniMech's arms, hampering the close-combat abilities of these configurations.[/color]

They could still be changed, just like any standard battlemech...but it became a custom job at that point, not a simple pod swap, as with weapons and extra heatsinks/jumpjets, other than the ones locked to the chassis.
The relatively-instant swap to which I was referring was weaponry not locked to the chassis; that is what gave them their tactical flexibility.

Here's an example of a Standard FE Omnimech : http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Lupus
A similar weight example with XL : http://www.sarna.net...auldron-Born%29
The price difference, though it doesn't say on Sarna for the Lupus, is that you can get just about two Lupus for the price of one Ebon Jaguar.
All due to the XL engine.

- Engine prices are based on rating AND weight of chassis while MWO is priced just on rating. So for MWO the price should be little lower
- Omnimechs cost 25% more than than the exact same mech that is not classed as an omni
Since the only difference between the various configs is the weapons loadouts, there should be no reason to have to buy 3 variants of an omnimech. Currently each variant of a mech has specific quirks and hardpoints it make sense to have to purchase 3 of them to master. So if you only need to purchase the omni once to master it, it makes sense to that it would cost 2-3 times the cost of a similar mech that was not an omni.

Those aren't upgrades, but different mechs altogether.
Take Jenner, for instance. The Jenner IIC is an SRM boat without any lasers.
And the fact they are mostly unseen doesn't help the matter, either.

The devs have said that clans will work similar to the great houses, most players will want the freedom of choosing a planet to capture and hold, which has been hinted to be a perk of joining a merc corp.
And there was a poll that showed most people were unsure of or would not join the clans, and that was in the clan subforum where a higher then average number of players are presumably pro clan.
http://mwomercs.com/...ill-you-change/
As long as theres some metagame disadvantage; not being able to own dozens of mechs, or not being able to chose your planet/map, or more limited ways to customize your mech to name a few, then most people will stick with merc corps and the IS. The clans can be made to appeal to role players and hard core clan enthusiasts while keeping their defining characteristics.
