I was kinda hoping they would make JJ's produce heat... so much heat that if you fired 3 or 4 PPC's that you would overheat and plummet from the sky, damage your legs and actually fall over. You'd have to recover from the overheat and get up before you could "poptart" a full alpha again.

That wouldn't solve the problem.

It would if JJ's also recharged slower in combination with other factors, which MW:LL already solved long ago.

You could still do a poptart attack without any risk, and jets would be worthless for their intended purpose. That is, getting around.

So we're gimping poptarting, which should have been done a long time ago.

IF mobility is also increased at the same time (AKA, fun factor), which is also possible, and was done then they keep their intended purpose. MWO's JJ's are no where near this type of amazing mobility fun factor. JJ's in MWO are turds in comparison to MW:LL's.

The ability to rocket away for very quick escapes, or using them for tactical combat evasion is pretty sweet.

It's getting killed officially? Good. It's one of those things that are killing the game and tactics

While I am happy about the nerfing of poptarts, I would like to point out that I find it ammusing that every stratagey ever employed in any game ever gets bashed as "killing tactics" at some point or another.

the funniest and most ironic thing about this, is all of the people in this thread looking forward to "poptart tears" will be the exact same ones crying over whatever the next FOTM/OP build is. and guess what the poptarters will be using that..and those same people were the ones crying over poptarts..so in actuality the same people will be crying post nerf as were before..

Not really.
I've stuck with the game through everything, no matter how awful or hilariously bad. it was only when they removed missiles, and MW4 poptarts sprouted like shrooms, that I decided to take a break.

Because I already played that game, and it was terrible.

RIP, poptarters. Stay in MW4, where you belong.

Well good thing I don't need precise aim mid-air with my SSRMs. Gotta make my daily quota of QQ lest I fall behind.

Streakcats are fair. They have to get close.

Problem is, other perfectly 'fair' builds will get facenerfed as well. AC20 3D brawler phract will only be playable if the nerf is reasonable enough so that your mech doesn't get an epileptic fit when you take off.

Don't get me wrong, I actually want some shake put it. It annoys my logical side that launching what is essentially a giant metal brick into the air goes so smoothly. But the fact is everyone's rushing into this because they're annoyed by poptarts and just want it fixed.

I can understand why, I just hope it isn't another episode of 'bandaid fix borks half the game' ala the missile nerfs.

Good. And anyone who is afraid of their Highlander poptarts becoming useless, they won't be. The HGN-732 with 1x Gauss and 3x ERPPC is STILL a good mech. You just won't be winging targets at 1k meters anymore, unless you were good in the first place.

EDIT: also, as far as the 3D is concerned, I think everyone should use the dual LB-10x build. Flying shotgun toting lunatics. I want a confederate flag on the back of mine, with "GIT R DUN!" on my chest.

If you're really brawling with that AC20, you're gonna hit me with it, no matter the shake.

Because you'll be in my face when you fire it.

Exactly, so the shake needs to be bad enough to mess up long range sniping, but not bad enough to hinder close range jump brawling.

I doubt that sweet spot is going to be that straightforward to hit.

and more skill gets nerfed into the ground. How about everyone should accept the fact that poptarts, took skill to use. Remember you need to LEAD the target, WHILE YOU ARE MOVING also. It is not point 'n shoot and kill, since all the "poptart" mechs can only carry limited weaponry, and are not massive boats of any one kind of gun (and 4 of one type is borderline "boat" but is not uber op).

People were saying poptarting wouldn't happen unless 3PV came, and it would be the apocalypses of MW4 all over again, QQ, QQ. Why now is it such an issue? In CB we had only 2 JJ mechs, and the heavy (cat) could easily "poptart" with twin PPC AND LRM's. However back in those days (ya like it was ages ago, not like 6 months) LRM's were something to be feared, and getting hit hurt...a lot. My point? LRM's were what kept poptarters down, and good light scout mechs with TAG.

Did you just say LRMs keep pop tarts down? You're joking right? That's like the complete other way around.

No. There is no skill involved in poptarting, I know because I can do it incredibly well, and I suck in general. It feels like running a splatcat, or a streak cat, or a gauss cat (early on). It feels cheap, because it is cheap. Stop defending it, even PGI knows it's unbalanced. The proposed nerfs will make it require skill to do, which a skilled person like yourself should have no problem doing, right?
