I have to admit that some of my fav mechs from back in the day were the Bushwacker and also a couger. Bushie is a med mech and the couger was a light mech. Had one I named speed freak. Stripped everything out of it and completely bulked out the engines. Loaded a couple of narcs on it and some flamers..

Speed does kill. Oh and dont mind the black rain coming over the ridge at you. It will only hurt for a minute.

I'll probably be rolling in a Heavy. The Catapult is such a great design: maneuverablility and range. "Give 'em ****... from a mile away."

Light mechs have potential to be very fun in this game if what they've said so far is true.

I like 'mechs in all the weight classes, I'm looking forward to having a good variety available to pilot. I would get bored fast if we get stuck in too much of any one class. More mechs and variants = more fun to me. :) Hunchback 4p, Loki Prime, Vulture Alpha, Masakari Prime, Raven 4L, just about any Ryoken, Shadowcat, Black Knight, Thor, Mauler, etc. MORE MORE MORE! :D

Give me Phoenix Hawk and I don't want to change my ride until IIC variant comes available.

Shadow Hawk SHD-2K for fire support and, if i have to take part on frontal assault, I do it inside Warhammer.

I'd not play assault because I'm in Asia and I can imagine how hard it is to shoot things in high latency.

And I'm too old for the combat :) so I'd prefer scouting around or laying siege, leave the close combat to the teenagers.

If the devs balance everything right then Assualt mechs will have a place just as much as light mechs. I'm more excited to see the system they have discussed where we don't have every one in the singled beer mech with set weapons. Combined lances of mixed mechs to get the job done.

For me, mediums or fast/mobile heavies are the way to go. Give me a Vindicator, Snake (once 3053 hits), or Catapult any day of the week.

I will be sticking with a medium mech, such as my premium laserboat Crab.
Assault mechs are all very nice, but it takes time to get to where you are needed.
Time better spent slagging other mechs.

I hope the game has a heavy reliance on recon, much like World of Tanks. Scout mechs jumping on top of buildings and spotting lumbering assault mechs in the streets, allowing for long ranged missile strikes or ambushes.

I will ride whatever fits the situation and my personal preference.
Any brawler with direct fire weapons will probably float my boat :)

Back in MW2/3/4 days, i usually played either light mechs on the heavy side (30/35 tons), medium mechs or the lighter heavy mechs(dragon, champion, loki). They just offer so much more flexibility than assault mechs.

Sure it's still great to have a lance of Assault mechs blasting their way through waves of enemies... but what else can they do? Nothing much. They just sit there, and are defenseless against a single faster mech with missiles. That's why you need a flexible mix of mech-types.

ShadowCat for the win. That 'mech is so close to perfection it hurts.

Clan Sman

Griffin 6S is perfection in a medium mech. Fast, jumpy and firepower at all ranges!

Gimme my beloved Warhammer any day.

If they even let us have that beautiful weapon of mass destruction...but if there's a Whammy coming out to play, then there's a Glaug Pod...err...Marauder...with my name written ALL over it.

i hope they balance the game so that all the classes are viable.

Look at World of Tanks. the made 5 classes (light, medium, heavy, artilery, tank destroyer) out of WWII tanks and they are all viable with different playstyle. hope piranha can match it.

Assaults have their place. An Awesome on base defence can make your life absolutely miserable. You pilot what's needed to grab a victory for your team. Though I prefer mediums and heavies. Griffin, Shadow Hawk, Wolverine, Thunderbolt, Catapult and Grand Dragon are all exceptional Mechs that can dominate in their weight class and lower and hold their own with a decent pilot versus a heavier chassis.
