I will pilot whatever my team needs. I'm not the crazy skilled gamer that many of my teammates will be so having an Atlas in my hands is more or less giving the win to the other team.

Back in the MechAssault (don't hate me) days, I used to run with a Belial quite a bit because it was nicely mobile, had jump jets and I could hit anything on the map with my Gauss Rifles.

i love how people think the hunchback is all that. for city combat sure it is great. for open fields. i will kill it rather easier and it will not ever get to fire its big fat heavy autocannon once.

Well, don't forget that the Hunchback has canon variants that aren't so madly monofocused.

Back in ye olde MechCommander, I'd trade its AC20 for a Gauss in a heartbeat. Or use a Centurion with PPCs instead, of course.

Personally, I will fill whatever role the team needs. I prefer to have the best chance for success.

As seen by the forum poll, most people aren't going to be piloting Assaults.

While I love running my Novacat, (Clan invasion, hurry up!) Assaults still have their role on the battlefield.

As a defender, they will be a tough nut to crack, and invaluable to base defense.

As an attacker, while late to the showdown, they will be able to break up the toe-to-toe slugfest of the heavies and mediums, and potentially turn the fight in their favor.

In CSA our favorite chassis was the Scat. We would run all over the damn place nibbling at the opposition with LRMs and ERLLs laughing our arses off as the assaults desperately tried to track us. In the end, a couple of our Scat primes would exploit our damage with a couple of well placed gauss rounds and it was all over..

Light/Medium/Heavy are my strengths
Assault, well.....I can do it, and do it well, but I just hate not having speed. I'd roll with a 4/6 speed Mech, like a Banshee.

I honestly feel like assaults are too slow and cumbersome to be as effective as a good medium or heavy is on the battlefield. But we shall see...

I personally prefer mechs with a bit of armor on them.

I'm not good enough with light mechs to run circles around others.

heavy mechs are some of the coolest looking mechs in the lore in my opinion. and the Assaults because some of the ridiculus stuff you can do with some of those chassis. but id need to play it to find out, who knows I might enjoy playing a scout more than anything

honestly, what ever will pack the biggest punch that fits my playstyle, which would currently be the Catapult.

its more about knowing the roll your supposed to play in the mech your piloting in the game, and well rounded force should kick ***

Well we get 4 mechbay slots to start, so one of each please ;). I picked the Atlas as my founder choice (if the damn Centurion or Cataphract had been options that would have been different) simply because of the 4 designs available I like that one the most, but I plan on working towards owning the triple c's, Commando, Centurion, and Cataphract. :)

I am a fan of the 55 Ton Mediums like a Bushwacker of Shadow Cat or Uziel. Optimum mix of Weapons with some punch and Speed IMHO.

Seems like assaults are going to be few.

One thing I've never liked is going slow.

If I can push a cataphract up to higher than the canon variants' speed and be effective, sign me up for a 70-ton heavy. Otherwise... something more medium.

Gimme a Commando, a Jenner, a Hunchback, and a Trebuchet and I'll be able to fill any Scout/Hit & Run role on any map.

I am definitely more of the assault class or the heavy class myself. I was always the support mech that was standing next to the catapult. If I was in a assault, I was one of the first ones out of the gate.
