Actually, if game balance works well, I'm hoping people will hate Assault 'Mechs because they'll get shot in the weak rear armor too easily.
So people piloting the 75 ton Timberwolf or Wildcat or Mad Dog MK II are sissies? When you & I can face each other in a Circle of Equals, we will revisit that remark surat!
That's MAD CAT.
Clan 'Mechs?!? Wow, you even need your hyper-technology-one-shot-I-win weapons to feel good? That's even worse!
Actually, I'm going to go even lower and say anything more than 60 tons means you need a parent to hold your hand. So even your little Cauldron-Born is a tchotchke with a chair on top.
Also the Wildcat is a fake 'Mech created by MekTek wusses.

Anyone who pilots the 100 ton Mackie has my respect.

Dont attack my favorite mech until I find a good IS medium, or heavy mech, that can replace it for me.

The Mackie is what the Atlas only wishes it could be, and even then its ballistic weapon is gimped by the 'Mech's speed.

I was actually going to attack the Vulture as well. Yeah, let's bring the sissy limit down to 55 tons, then.
Though the Ryoken is pushing it, I give props to the Dasher, Koshi, Uller, Dragonfly, and Fenris. Now THOSE are some Clan 'Mechs with character.

You are either the most sarcastic man on the planet or we are talking about different Mechs. I respect pilots of the Mackie-5S, the first Battlemech. The one that has 20 tons of armor that only provides 2/3 the protection of the Atlas and is armed with an autocannon/5, one large laser, and a single PPC (or perhaps two; one on the Mech and one in the pilot's hand).

You mean in between the pilot's legs.
I tend not to count period pieces since there was absolutely nothing that could even compared to the very first Mackie in the first place, back in the beginning. As such, I was actually talking about the final Mackie, the MSK-9H.

I hope terrain varies enough and battlefields are large enough to strike a balance in game.
