I have fond memories of the Oil Rig (I think that was the name) map from MW4 multiplayer. I'd play as an Adder on the blue team (team 2, I believe. My memory isn't perfect, ya know lol). As soon as the match started, I'd make a break for the ocean, turning off active sensors as I went. I'd find a spot with a decent view, and crouch. Since the Adder was so short, I'd be completely underwater. Then I'd start sniping, and hope all those Dire Wolves and Executioners didn't find me...
One time, an enemy Cyclops (MekPak 3 expansion) caught onto me, and we got into a shootout - torso twisted towards each other, rapidly shifting back and forth from going forwards to backwards. He was pretty much unable to land a hit on me, but my twin ER PPCs were blasting him to smithereens. I **** near had him when suddenly one of my teammates in a Dire Wolf decided to... intervene. Needless to say, I was quite annoyed. The point bonus I'd have gotten from killing a 'mech that much bigger than me aside, I wanted the pure amusement of pretty much dominating an assault 'mech with my little bitty Adder :)

No, I meant the drink.

You'll have to forgive me when I say that my sobriety tends to make jokes like that fly right over my head.

As a solo ..no Assault does not work .. teamed up on a good team it's practically invincible !
but say" if the game balance works well" then people should not HATE ANY part of the game.

bad balance = hating assault mex

Actually, my dislike of most Assault 'Mechs lies in the fact that moving them is always secondary to pulling the trigger. Positioning and maneuver warfare are enjoyable to me, and slowly crawling forwards to go toe-to-toe with other pillboxes-on-legs can get boring sometimes.

An Executioner is a Heavy Omnimech to the Ghost Bears, so does that count?

Give me a Raven, a commander who knows what he's doing, and two guys who know where to put pain, and I will give you the Inner Sphere.

I have to admit that the Griffin-1N was the one I preferred to run around in ... that is until I jumped smack dab into the middle of a fricking rabid pack of Hetzers (so much for intel) and got my right torso shot off. And I mean sheared right off.  One second, I'm jumping in ready for a firefight and the next second I'm jumping out on my 3 remaining jumpjets (and yes, I *almost* faceplanted the landing) and running away.  Luckily my lancemates were able to take out the Hetzers and retrieved what was left of my right torso (somehow, the LRM-10, the PPC, and all the LRM Ammo were intact).  Needless to say, I caught a lot of ribbing from my lancemates for many a month thereafter.  Now I pilot a customized Griffin (similar to the GRF-1N Griffin Sparky) except that I dropped the LRM-10 and ammo for 4 Medium Lasers, max armor and additional heat sinks and spread the Medium Lasers around so *everything* wouldn't be on the right side.  This has served me well since.  If we're talking lights... probably something like the Jenner... or a Hussar

I am not to into the Assualt class mechs, they can be fun but I enjoy the maneuverability of a Medium mech.

PHX-1K Pixies all the way! if they can balance the game properly and use the limited scatter targetting system they are talking about making it harder to hit for various reasons and semi random then just like in the tabletop and MPBT3025 any given mech can kill any other mech based on pilot skill.... Anyone remember the infamous Marik lances with 4 BJ-1s disassembling assaults and heavies from MPBT3025.............

I cant wait to see how hiding scouts and sensor data get worked in. I will freely play a Jenner if it means giving my team an advantage in intel and bastardly firing tact. Heck, I'll run an Ost or Flea if it means getting vital sensor reads. Otherwise I play for maneuverability on the grid or in any game but 4.

Between the information warfare and the city fighting aspect to this game, mechs lighter than assault mechs seem so much more viable... and there seems to be a great realistic emphasis on having a balance of capabilities instead of it just being about size.
