I am hoping to be able to bust out some Marauder action.

If not, the Stormcrow or Mad Dog will be seeing a lot of service

I am always willing to go heavy or medium. I prefer my Mad Dog / Vulture, the old school Crusader, or the Uziel is a nice mech too.

I love light mechs and will be sticking to them as much as I can. I like speed over armor.

Give me a Thunderbolt or a Warhammer and I will be happy with either one.

Every since Mechwarrior 2 Mercs I've been a once for medium to heavy mechs for general mission work-horses, only going Assault if I didn't have a choice and Light only when the mission called for a skilled hand at the recon.

I'm partial to the Bushwacker and Thanatos mechs from MW4 Mercs, reconfigured slightly to deliver a bit more punch.

It really depends on how they implement "stealth" mechanics. If you have the right modules and such, you may be able to sneak under the radar in the electronic and visual sense and provide a use to your mates. I would love to play a light or medium scout mech in this regard even if your may be done in a flash of PPCs. I wonder if they will have a visual stealth mechanic like WoT...

World of Tanks I think showcases how different vehicles have their pluses and minuses. If done right, it would be possible for a Jenner to crush an Atlas given speed and terrain. Just like how a Chafee can kill a Lowe or a T28 if played right.

I would also like to add:

" The newly implemented Battle Grid will give commanding units a bird’s eye view of the battlefield and scouts will be able to feed real time recon information to them. The battlefield commander will be able to call in air strikes, artillery strikes and other support unit requests."

If strikes have a delay to them and they are locked to the area you chose, a scouted group of Assaults would easily fall prey to these battlefield options with no screen of lights or mediums to ferret out scouts relaying information back to their commander. Additionally, faster than assault mechs would be able to evade or move out of these area affect faster.

You'll have to forgive me when I say that my sobriety tends to make jokes like that fly right over my head.

I suppose that it was a fairly obscure joke to begin with.

I'd rather pilot a good medium or heavy over an assault any day :).

Pwning assaults in a locust in tabletop Battletech is endlessly hilarious.

Any assault pilot that lets that happen is weak in the genes.

I really like playing a Flea or Dasher. In MW4 that was the sweet spot. When the MW4 servers began seeing a lot of first person view, heat and ammo limited games, the smaller mechs became extremely valuable and important and the poptards became targets.

I hardly ever pilot an assault. I'll bet that you'll see plenty of vets willing to run lights and mediums.

+1

An assault mech is a sitting duck without support.

Bushwacker, shadowhawk, locust, panther, Urbie, and maybe a crusader or mauler just to change it up a few.

Two options come to mind, one Black Knight.

Two, if they let us have physical weapons and TSM, a little 25 Crimson Hawk with TSM and a pair of claws would do wonders to people.

Three, I'd so pilot a Griffin or a Warhammer.

I will pilot medium, or maybe a heavy. I find these two the best, because I like to trade some shots and not being slower than snail. And medium tanks have the best designes overall, I just didnt decide which on to go, but I guess its better that way, because we dont even know which mechs to expect (Hunchback was considered a suicudal vehicle by Clans, or at least its modification).
