Raven for me
scouts all the way!

I'm with Hesperus on this.....

someone's gotta provide that close-in reconnaissance, and it usually falls to us poor psycho's who actually enjoy running rings around the enemy lances / stars

An Uziel with 2 ER PPCs, an ATM 12, machine guns and ATM/JumpJets is my preference. Runs circles around assault mechs

I miss jumping around in my Javelin (4 med. lasers and increased armour varient), shooting heads off an atlas (MPBT), or rumbling up the table with a Hunchie with an AC/20 in the same game:) I loved the MPBT game because it employed old tech, and you had to watch your heat, or became a stationary barn to which even I could hit:) People with alittle patience and knowing when to alpha strike made that game alot of fun cause a cagey light mech pilot could take on a much heavier mech and win, because it was more then just firepower, it took skill! No real disrespect intended, but double heat sinks took alot out of the game in my opinion, one could still overheat but the tollerences were much higher, and the firepower would just rip up lights super fast (I am looking at you MW4:P). It sounds like they want to do some super cool things with all the classes, so I am pretty excited about this whole thing:)

Oh why cant someone just remake MPBT:3025. To bad MPBT:3026 fell apart.

I'm a medium mech pilot. Have been since the tabletop days. Hunchback, Bushwhacker or Vindicator. If there's clan mechs, I'm Ryoken all the way.

Light 'mech all the way. Jousting is a great way to put the hurt on big 'mechs. If I have to go up in size I'd say Hunchback for that big punch in a medium package. :)

I plan on piloting a light scout 'mech, like a raven. Or possibly a heavy scout such as a shadow cat once that gets released.

I will pilot pretty much anything but an Assault. I think I will borrow a quote from Doctor Who for my impression of Assault 'mechs. "You are better ay dying."

For me Assault 'mechs are one step up from sitting in an immobile Turret. You stand and shoot, reload, shoot again. They are not fast enough to react to a fluid battlefield so must wait for the battle to come to them, and if they get in over their head they must trust to their armor to hold them through because they have no chance of escaping.

My favourite weight class is medium 'mechs - and if the unseen get implemented I prefer the 45-ton Phoenix Hawk.

However, assault 'mechs make great fire support for lighter 'mechs, especially if they stock up on missiles and long-ranged energy weapons. Medium or heavy 'mechs are better for actual assault t hough.

edit: so i was completely wrong :) it's not AC20's (don't know what i was thinking) it was Clan RAC 10's

A modified Jaegermech with energy weapons would be interesting, or a rifleman with the same mods. Four large pulse lasers on a rifleman with extra heat sinks anyone?

In honor of all my fond memories from the original MW game, I'm hoping to burn to death in a Locust on a daily basis. If there is a Locust.

I have always been more of the 'volume of fire' type ... tend to gravitate towards Catapults.

I like the faster heavies, the ones that can move pretty decently but still lay down some impressive fire when the time comes for it. Shoot and scoot as it were, but still being able to soak up some damage for the lighter guys to use as a distraction while they bleed them to death out the back.

Being that this game takes place in 3049 we've got double heat sinks - no problem driving something other than an assault 'Mech, particularly something like the WLF-2 Wolfhound.

Being a Steiner loyalist, though, I'd really want to ride something more like a Zeus or Banshee.

In the old BTech MU's, I piloted Panthers, Grasshoppers, and J. Edgars. Of course, I was also a Clan pilot in a Shadow Cat and a Masakari/Warhawk (Yes, I know, that's probably the ultimate in munchkin mechs). Griffin is probably one of the better all-around mechs for speed, armor, and damage.

Shooting a mech in the back with the ML in a J. Edgar and critting... who could ask for more?

Im all about the Raven-style of light mechs where i can gather data and recon and harass other mechs with small-medium arms fire. for a squad leader i think this is most valuable.
