I usually do not post here because the mix of aggressiveness and whine contest is not to my liking.
Still, I want to express my irritation about one thing. Communication.
I was one of those looking forward to the Orion being implemented. Now, without explanation or any word on when it will come out we get the Quickdraw instead.
I understand designing a game can be unpredictable. Time-tables are more wishful thinking than fact. Things are ready when they are ready. Ok. Fine. But why announce something then?
Do you think people will be angry and leave in droves if you do not announce a new feature each month? Guess what, they are angry now.
Do not get me wrong. I am not irritated because I do not get my new toy. I am irritated because we were told we would get the new toy. And we don´t.
So either don´t make promises or keep them. Making them and not keeping them will automatically result in the default "they just wantz me moneyz!" reaction of players.
This looses the company quite some credibility. I am not feebly threatening PGI with a rage-quit, but if their marketing department is worth its salt then it will most likely know how much credibility is worth in terms of $ and €. Especially in such a contested market as onlinhe-shooters.
Please rethink your announcement policies. It would save quite some digital ink.
I genuinely cannot recall, off the top of my head, a company with which I have had direct interaction that is more inept than PGI in handling customer and public relations. It's truly astounding how incompetent they are in terms of human interaction.
Based on the way they go about business, it makes me wonder if they actually
have a marketing department. We hear all the time how small the company is and how short-staffed they are, so my only guess to explain their incredible bumbling is that they have some socially mal-adapted computer programmer doing double duty to handle their PR in addition to his main job. I really, honestly have no other explanation because any schlub who has worked customer service as a retail peon, even for a month, knows that PGI's amazing talent for miscommunication, bait-and-switch, and outright obliviousness is the absolute antithesis to the proper way to build consumer confidence and trust. A proper marketing director (or hell,
intern) would and should know better than to pull these kinds of stunts.
Get your **** together PGI. If people are pissed at you because they don't like your game decisions, that is one thing. You cannot please everyone in that respect. But if people are pissed at you because your communication is atrocious, because you build expectation and then crush it with sudden and poorly explained decisions, and because you show a blatant disregard for your customer (the people who fund your paychecks by supporting your product) then that is an egregious error on YOUR part. That so much forum space is dedicated to this company's inability to communicate, rather than the game itself, is absolutely inexcusable and need not happen
at all.
I was feeling so good about the game's direction after the latest patch, but this crap put a very sour taste in my mouth.
