Lol that's the point, its called 'quickdraw'.....

I get that, but it's an unusual level of silly, I think. You can call the mech cowboy or quickdraw or jolly jumper, but it's still a mech, the pilot will not make a casual stroll through town and be bothered by two gangster mechs, shoot them on the spot and tell a cowering raven to report this to the boss.
I didn't notice this level of sillines in the Battlemech Announcement news before.

I suppose if the dialogue wasn't there, it could have kinda worked as a believable mech scenario, that, if you think about it, played out like a classic western scenario.

But in the end, it doesn't really matter, it's just a meaningless observation on an irrelevant text. More important wil be the usefulness of the Quickdraw in play. I am skeptical, due to the Dragon's performance so far.
It could actually be the Quickdraw beats the Dragon, however, simply because it should have the same engines available to it, but also add jump jets, and its weapon hard points might be more favorable (at least going by the stock loadout of the QKD-4).
I suppose there is one useful information in the text - it implies that the Quickdraw can carry 6 Medium Pulse Laser in one variant, which would make a pretty neat laser boat.

Anything is possible on the Periphery. In one of the short stories included in new Catalyst rulebooks there is a bandit in possession of a single UrbanMech terrorizing the whole planetary region. Planets there are not universally united under one rule. So it can be anything - a competition between mercenaries seeking employment from petty local warlord, or some local community only able to hire one mechwarrior for protection (Quickdraw pilot calls one of his opponents "raider")... Their mode of action can be explaned too: perhaps outnumbering side had their mechs undermaintained and were eager to get undamaged salvage by scaring their lone opponent into surrender instead of shooting on sight. That's why they went down so easily, and the Quickdraw pilot was happy to use their greed for salvage to get closer pretending to have a talk and bring his MedPulse array to bear.

THIS! I work as an editor as a full time job(I won't say where because people are 'funny' about editors) and fot the love of syntax outsource your editing to someone cruel and heartless! This is a serious issue; well edited content improves the image of a brand a million times over.

Are you cruel and heartless? Cause I know I need someone cruel and heartless for my books...!

Bleh, it's not an Orion.

It looks bland, and squishy with that, low armor + humanoid profile + likely an XL engine because supposed to be fast = bad mix. It will be like a heavy Trebuchet, and Trebuchets really aren't that good except for long range... which makes sense, because I think in this brawler-heavy SRMfest that the game has become, we need to see more skillful jump snipers oneshotting bodyparts from 600m afar.

Oh wait.

Fair enough, personally I like a good level of silliness mixed into my games, stops people taking them too seriously.

He made the Quickdraw look cool. The _Quickdraw_! There's something unnatural about that! A cool looking Quickdraw. I'm pretty sure Alex sold his soul to get his mechdrawing talents. It's the only explanation that makes sense.

Well done. Well done indeed.

The sunlight glinted off the top of his Mech, the sun close to setting in front of him. “This planet ain’t for you to be trompin’ around, lone wolf. It’s time for you to leave.”
The Man shifted the cigar in his mouth, replying “And I guess you’re the ones to show me off, then?”
“That’s right. And we’re thinkin’ that nice Mech o’ yours would be a good partin’ gift. So why don’t you get on out, and we’ll let you leave.”
“Well, that’s mighty kind of you,” he said, biting down on his cigar, “But I think I’m just going to walk outta here, if you don’t mind.”
“The thing is, loner, that we do mind.”
The two Mechs stood, stock still, facing eachother. To each side he saw Mechs coming in to flank him.
“I guess we’re doing this the hard way then,” he stated.
“For you, yeah we are!” the other man sneered, suddenly starting to raise his arms. The Man was faster though, bringing his six medium pulse lasers to bear on the enemy Atlas’ head, coring it in the blink of an eye. He shifted left, as lasers from a Cataphract burned past him. His next salvo took the pilot right in the chest, straight through the cockpit glass. Missiles landed around him as he spun and fired again, obliterating the side-torso of a Commando – he turned away as it slowly thudded to the ground, and stood staring straight at a Centurion pilot hiding behind a rocky outcropping.
“Now you are probably thinking you’ve got me. My guns are overheated and I can’t possibly fire again. If I fire I’ll overheat, shut down, and you’ll have me dead to rights. Ain’t that so?”
“I, uh, yeah. Yeah! Surrender now, get out of your Mech, and I’ll, uh, let you go!”
“Well you’re forgetting one thing, raider. One very important thing that has passed right over you, that you aren’t thinking of, that coulda saved your life.”
“Oh yeah, and what’s that!” the raider shouted, his voice breaking at the end.
“That the entire time I’ve been talking, my heat has dropped back down, and your cockpit is peeking out over the rock there.”

“Oh s-“ the pilot started to say, as six medium pulse laser shots hit his cockpit, exploding it outward. As his Centurion collapsed against the rock, The Man turned his Quickdraw towards the right, saying over his open mic.

“And you there, Raven behind that rock. I’m walking out of here, and you, you’re going to tell ‘em. Tell ‘em what happened here. Tell them that no-one tells me what to do."
And with that, he turned and walked towards the sunset, blue light low forming a halo around him.

Sorry man paint a pig it is still a pig...

If this Mech is true to the TSR then this is the one as bad as the Charger.

As a Drill Instructor for the Head Hunters in MPBT on AOL and Game Storm, I made my recruits take these mechs when they progressed to Heavy and Assault Mechs. Yes true to the Battletech/MechWarrior Universe, Pilots got to use mechs per their rank no recruit ever ran a expensive Heavy or Assault Mech. Assaults were only allowed for Officers. Unless you OP this Mech it will suck in combat. Since we have no training grounds yet, This Mech is a big disappointment. So many good Mechs and now more garbage. I hope the price matches the value because I will not be buying this painted pig...

Spend 5 bucks get 4 mechbays...come one guys...that's a happy meal and less then a pack of smokes.

They certainly haven't earned my money at full price.

Waiting till the next sale also gives me time to see how CW and UI 2.0 and such flesh out.

For gods sake, we don't need yet another energy+missile heavy with jj. We already have a line of those. We seriously need a 75t balanced mech, like the Orion.

I am very dissapoint...

Funny how people complain so much, yet noone has commented on the fact that despite the constant "you don't produce any content" people spout, they have assets that weren't even announced ready and available for launch...

Well we damn well aren't mind readers. How are we supposed to know they have content done if they don't communicate with us!

That's, like, the whole point, dude! If they have artwork ready to roll, why are they letting the forums turn into cesspools of hate when releasing a few ******* pictures every once in a while would turn them into puppy, unicorn and lollipop land? If it's a marketing ploy to keep up the suspense, well, its hilariously miscalculated and they need to **** can their marketing dude.

Remember what happened with the Victor? The dudes in the next thread announcement had to harass Niko to remind PGI that they promised new artwork in 30 days. The art was then released almost as an afterthought. Now this whole debacle where we didn't find out about the damn thing until it just kind of appeared out of nowhere in the June dev post. Then, after a shitstorm, lo! and behold there's the art. It's shambolic.

It's a pity because FD's art is absolutely stunning, yet the circumstances in which his art has been released has been pretty shameful lately.

well lets just take a look at what Heavy Metal Pro has to say about the Quickdraw (on a side note, I named my Heavy Metal "Pro" as an homage to the battlemech creation software)

4G
5/8/5 (same as dragon but with JJ)
LRM 10, SRM 4, 4x med las, 13 SHS, 8t armour (63%)

5A
5/8/5
6x med las, 1 SRM 4, 17 SHS, 8t armour

5K
5/8/5
6x med las, 1 SRM 4, 17 DHS, 8t FF armour (71%)

5M
5/8/5
4 x medlas, LRM 10, one shot SRM 4, 13 SHS, 8t FF armour

Ok this actually breaks the whole must have 3 meaningful variants clause in the explanation of the 'mech selection process. this 'mech has many 3050 variants, however most are copies of either the 4G or the 5A, also not a great 'mech overall

Personally I love the short story and with Alex's redraw I would use this mech all day long. I was never a fan of the Quickdraw but to me character has way more to do for me than stats and specs. I see so many posts about how this isn't as efficient as this or that mech. I say to you all, why do you even want the different designs, why not just find the perfect statistical mech and have everyone use that since stats are all you care about. Whats the point of different mechs? Geez, I love the diversity and the occasional black sheep mechs that seem to be wastes of tech but still they can be fun. I like it, I hope the cockpit view is as roomy as it looks on the mech.

Heh, I'm still waiting for my HER-2M Mercury :)

Simple truth is - you just can't please everyone - there are too many mechs, and someone will always want something else.

Javelin, Hermes, Hermes II, Mongoose, Grasshopper, Banshee, Cyclops, Zeus, Lancelot, Black Knight, Kintaro - too much to realistically expect PGI to add your favourite. And a darn shame too - I'd really like to see more 'mechs than one a month. Maybe once we have 50+ to choose from, adding one every month or two will not be a big deal.

But right now I'm just hungry for more, hoping each time it's one of my favs this time.
