Actually, every game I've been in has doom mongers, the lack of doom mongery was starting to concern me, but there's always a thread like this to bring it out.
I'm not saying that game population is booming, or that PGI is going in the right direction, I just have grown accustomed to the gloom and doom on every game forum no matter if it's successful or not. This makes me feel that things are going as per usual. Back to your regularly scheduled gloom and doom. BTW there should be a poll as to what will kill the game as I lost my chart as to what it is now. LRMS, high alpha, no tutorial, pin point accuracy which is the current FoTM of Doom?

Hunchbacks with their head small lasers losing to a Jenner death squad? :)

I'm posting this from work. I haven't played since last night. I'm assessing this based on almost 2hrs worth of gaming.

How's Wednesday night for prime time? Good enough for you? :)

Doesn't sound normal. Every game I've played today has been found in under a minute.

Exactly all of my friends have uninstalled this game. I was on the comstar server the night the entirety of DV8 uninstalled. This game is not in good shape.

There's really no point in actively playing this t*rd anymore. I have a lovely stable of shiny maxed out mechs that are all entirely worthless, because my style of play is horribly underpowered versus a team of sniper assaults. And that's all it is anymore. It's not fun, and PGI refuses to acknowledge that.

Sounds like you must be a bad if you can't beat a team of sniper assaults.

I think some people are waiting for CW. Since right now it's just fighting battles for c-bills and experience.
And of course trying out whatever mech they release.

If they want to keep people satiated until CW and release. They need to accelerate the rate they put mechs into the game.

But currently every other patch has caused more problems then they have fixed. Though I have seen less crashes of late. It still begs the question of where their resources are going. I remember hearing that they would hire a ton of people at GDC. But we haven't see any affect of that.

I hope the reason is that they are working on CW and other features and so they simply can't reveal things yet. Otherwise those that spent so much money on founders packs are going to feel cheated.

Out of sheer curiosity, what keeps you in the forums if you've lost faith in the game? I mean, I'm not going to say I like a lot of what PGI does, but I don't think the game is un-playable either. Do you really have faith that PGI will pull a 180?

Really? Playing the skill card huh? Just disregard the rest of the post and go for the crappy troll. Bravo, I guess I'm defeated.

PS - I don't ever remember losing to you, and we've played quite a few matches together.

Not exactly, but I'm bored at work a lot, not a lot of work coming in right now. I keep up on the forums waiting for something to change to give me enough of a reason to come back. I post only occasionally, mainly I just observe. So far, I'm not hopeful this game is ever going to be worth playing again... but I've spent a fair bit of coin on this crap pile, I'd kinda like it to be.

I'm also a huge mechwarrior fan, I grew up playing the old games. Heartbreaking and infuriating watching PGI move this game farther and farther away from the heritage and feel of the past games, even though that's what they sold the founders packages on.

Btw, I really loved that convergence idea you had... wish that would happen. Would make the game a helluva lot more fun.

The guy who helped track down and fix the HUD bugs was with them from the beginning. He was tasked with helping after they determined the problem was in the Cry Engine code and not theirs.

PGI had a player counter in the closed beta. I think they don't want us to see something like that.

Yea most 8 mans are running competitive min-max builds. I honestly don't like playing in matches like these because I don't feel its in the spirit of the game. I find more engaging combat in 4 mans and pugging. I still see min-max builds but I also see lots of unique ones as well.

As soon as they fix the meta to where min-maxing is not really required in 8-mans I'll start playing it heavily. Until then I try not to unless my group needs me to.

Probably because at this stage, it's just humiliating numbers that don't inspire greatness.

If nothing else, compare the current online forum user amount with any popular game forum like World of Tanks.

Weapon balance, and a failed attempts to create a solid matchmaker has dropped the server numbers to a all time low. That and there is no forward progress towards community warfare.

People are also having issues with some of the equipment such as arty strikes and air strikes

Now LRM are being played around with that's been a community disaster 2 times in closed and 1 time in open beta

The development team just lost their street credit.

Well obviously...they took it away. :)

I no longer play Star Conflict because the devs of that game have put out some patches that turned me off to the game lately, but when I was still playing they were fantastic about providing the beta testers with information, and they only have about 2,000 max people playing the game concurrently, some days as low as <1,000 players. Yet when I launch a game in Star Conflict the following information is readily available:

-total # of players playing the game right now
-total # of players in mission (as opposed to their version of the 'mech lab)
-total # of players in each game mode (arcade, realistic, or pve...analogous to Conquest/Assault in MWO)
-total # of games being played of each game mode
-total # of players in each tier of the queue. Tiers are divided into T1, T2, T3, and T4, and you can see a graph of how many players are in your queue waiting to play, and you can physically see the matchmaker going to work. The graphs will drop suddenly when a game is matched and then they start climbing again as people queue up. I wish I was at home so I could link a screenshot.

It just seems shady when a little nothing game like Star Conflict can share that info with the player base yet a hyped up "AAA" game like M:WO is all secretive about it.

If he's anything like me: blind unsubstantiated hope that they won't completely kill a game we've been wanting for over a decade.

I play the game maybe 2 or 3 hours a week now, but I still keep an eye on the forums. I'm about 80% sure that PGI has already completely killed this thing and that it's only a matter of time until it finally collapses. But, I'm hoping that beyond any rational expectations, PGI will figure it out and turn it around.

I suppose it's the exact same psychology that keeps battered spouses from completely moving on. No matter how bad it gets, some of them will still cling to hope well after they should have moved on.

Should be fairly obvious now that this game is a total con-job. If they don't fix the current problems and prove that the promised features aren't just vaporware... well, doesn't take a genius to see where it's going. Hopefully it just dies quickly so another developer can take a crack at Mechwarrior. The sales figures of the founders packages prove there's a market for a good MW title, shame this one has missed the mark so completely.

I posted this list in another thread awhile back, but seems appropriate to bring it up again. Want to know why the player counts are so low? Well...

Some fun reminders of all the things this game was supposed to have by now:
  • Dropship mode
  • Asymmetrical Objective modes
  • DX11
  • Lobbies
  • In-Game Voice
  • 12 v 12
  • Community Warfare
  • CLANS, ************* CLANS WERE SCHEDULED TO BE OUT BY NOW

I am kind of in the same boat, except I am fairly certain that PGI won't figure it out, but there's a small chance that they will sell the game to some development shop that is a tad more competent.

When they start giving things away just so you play you know the state of the game is worse than there telling you.

This thing has been a marketing nightmare boarding on them being called the best scam artist of the century. Since they started a game collected 5 million but never finished it while still collecting more money.

Monthly mech releases, and maps great. However we as a community need more we need to be split into house factions. We need to see some sort of community warfare it can be as basic as Star Wars Battleground but something on that end. We need to balance weapons and get a viable matchmaker.

These are not hard things to do.
