Why Does The Torso Move When Legs Rotate?

There is no reason for the torso to move when the legs rotate. If the mech has a gyro system in the torso its so that the torso keeps facing one direction when the legs move.
One of the biggest problems of this game is the user-unfriendly controls..namely digital-only movement.
With a keyboard or a joystick the legs turn in violent bursts. There is no way to rotate them at a rate slow enough that it allows the torso to remain facing where it is by moving in the opposite direction with the mouse (analog-like movement).
Please remove the torso being moved around when the legs move. That should only happen if the torso reaches its max swing angle when the legs move.

You are proposing that mechs have to turn their legs and torsos independently of each other, which would be a mess for any new player to get used to.
If I want to orientate my mech 90 degrees left, why should I have to turn my legs AND my torso using different controls?
While what you say is technically feasible, it just don't make no sense.

Make it an option.

As a former gunner on a tank, I've certainly missed this ability and I'd very much like to see it.

You're saying it like that's a bad thing. Sure it would feel different, but it would also open up for more control once you get used to it. You'll be able to aim better while turning. Currently, I never shoot while turning because turning is binary and messes up my aim completely.
It would be good if this was an option similar to how arm lock and throttle decay is an option.

For a light mech pilot, I'm sure it would be a nightmare to have this ability, especially as the wide torso twist means that you'll very rarely be able to twist your torso by running in another direction.

Part of the game is learning, with practice, to know how far and fast the torso twists and counter this as you move

Syllogy,
You already have to do this right now. If I turn my legs but I want my crosshair to aim in the same direction, I have to turn both my legs and torso to maintain that orientation.
If you implemented, I could turn my legs and do extremely minor movements on the mouse to torso twist to where I want to maintain. I actually only have to move the torso equal to the current arc speed by time of turning legs.

why does it seem to me, that people have serious problems with EVERY aspect of moving a mech?
i see a nice battle coming up
people who cry for autocenter vs.people who want the mech to keep facing the current direction... omfg
((btw... maybe you should suggest PGI to implement the turret autolock from WoT and add autocenter legs to torso to make it perfekt?))
