This makes the mistake of assuming that most of us plan. The fact that Eve goons have erupted in civil war as often as they have suggests this is wrong.

And yeah, clan mechs are nice, they're just out of balance with the rest of the tech in game. They're a nice "Other" to throw into the game to make it interesting, but if you make them player controlled you're creating a slew of balance issues.

Yes, well, this thread is good entertainment, though some of the emotions I have observed in this thread seem a little extreme to be caused by mere boredom.

And I am not the grand goon poobah but judging by history I would say hot pink mechs with as many flamers as possible.

Which I would be fine with. I deserve to look and feel pretty, dammit.

I'm really interested to know where you get the impression that goons play like Clanners from. Surely from all the posts in this thread alone it's apparent that Clanners are the opposite of goons - in fact if and when Clanners show up in game I imagine we'll take pleasure in doing "dishonourable" stuff to overcome any tech advantage they have like NARCing them and then pounding them with missiles from behind cover (or using artillery if they get that into the game).

I've never seen a Clan that played with "honor" in a planetary league. Their version of honor was "don't leg me!". What a joke! I'm not sure if that started in MPBT or with GC, but if you're going to strip the armor off your legs so you can pack more weapons, and I happen to notice it, you can bet I'm going to cut your legs out from under you. And if you whine about getting legged, I may just order my boys and girls to concentrate on your legs in subsequent drops. ;)

I would be careful of hot pink... the Dev. Paul's weapons system automatically lock onto anyone who paints their mech pink according to this blog http://mwomercs.com/...blog-6-mechlab/ you sure the goon's reputation with conflict with devs isn't fate?

One would assume that a dev dropping into your games just to blow up your mech for your chosen color scheme would cause bigger problems than anything these goons could cook up on their own.

I dunno having a dev jump into my game specifically to blow me up would make me laugh more than anything. I mean, come on, hahahahah, really?

It would make you goons laugh because you revel in strife, or so they say. To everyone else it would serve as a warning that the game was rigged. If they're going to blow you up mid-game for something as harmless as your color scheme there wouldn't be hope for any kind of fair or balanced play in the most remote sense.

Hypothetically.

Just remember, in the game the year is 3049. Maximilian Liao (fat guy rest his soul) is a bit dead, and his daughter is purging the realm of her wicked step-sisters. Since I'm a 3025 purist - BattleTech the way Hammurabi coded it - I don't often think in terms of 3049. Having a moment to step back and consider the era, I think Goon would be perfect for House Liao.

Romano Liao: chiroptera guano loco
Goon: chiroptera guano loco

Romano Liao: Shoots inept people in the back … okay, okay, she'd get someone else to do it.
Goon: Will shoot inept people in the back … for free!

Romano Liao: Doesn't respect authority (other the her own).
Goon: Doesn't respect authority (other than its own … not even that).

Now, I have to get back to role-playing my Meh-Warrior.

/me dons his grandma's flower decorated moomoo
/me throws his mom's knitted shawl of his shoulders
/me grabs his Spy-vs-Spy (black spy of course) costume hat
/me waves his newspaper roll sword/staff in the air

“Have at thee, ye metal beasts of olde ...”

I would ask politely for an Urban Mech and if they would allow me to run ad banners on my mech.

Uhm clearly the default color scheme for mechs in much warrior 4 was pink. Qed pink is canon.

I would be fine if the Devs jumped in and murdered me once or twice since seriously that level of interaction with the community would ridiculous and funny. As long as they didn't do it during a competition or something, hahah.

Funny thing, MechWarrior 4 is canon only as a bad made-for-TV movie. Thus explaining pink mechs.

Still, the Goons do have the unique ability to terrorize a huge group of other players. Mittani and his goons are , at least in eve, pretty much unrivalled, because The Mit is with CCP. Wich isn´t necessarily a bad thing, but ... well, goons are goons, and their view of thins often collides with what it should really be.

Well when the goons loiter here and find out it will be a fair fight and get their sorry lil bott botts handed to them they will soon leave ;)

I came across the phrase "holding in laughter can looks like your crying" why did i think of goonswarm when i saw it?
And why are we arguing over pink? Only real men can wear pink.

Name one game they've left because of losing a fair fight?

What you're all overlooking is that rules and limitations don't always mean a fair fight. Word on the street is that Goons were responsible for the Pacquiao fight being rigged last night.
