Just don't drive Adridos into another faction. ;)

This is just a roundabout clever ploy to get him isn't it? You can't have him, He's ours.
I'm against driving anyone away and Adridos has proven to be one of the most loyal Capellans, I wont condone people saying we would drive him out for merely giving his honest opinion on one subject.

The one thing I always loved is that Goon takes one thing and one thing only seriously, Its member-base. You just cant harass one goon without taking them all on. Because when it comes down to it, we are here to have fun. The side that loses sight on that one point will eventually lose, and that is mostly what goon sets out for.

Thats a good thing I'm all for a united front I want the same for the Capellon Confederation, just remember, people find different things fun, for instance, RPers will have fun RPing to different degrees, but some people have fun trolling the RPers (who just want to enjoy their fantasy universe) this creates resentment and is when its stops being fun. Clashes of interest have always been the cause of conflict and resenment. People just need to know that in a game we shouldn't take these conflicts so far.

Wow. That's a sad comment on a persons character.

Hope the apology was sincere.

I love this thread, at least the first 10 pages. Do you have a similar thread in the Davions playground? I know I am the same faction but from what I hear apparently fellow faction members spurred the CC faction choice, and I must see the hilarity. If the Davions are going to be sperglords then I'm joining the space vikings, I'd rather troll clanners.

Personal experience of goons/SA members? Some of the most helpful and honest players I have ever met that don't try to hide behind "honoure", and their presence in the Clan R/D section makes the forums worth it. I also have no say in the matter as my Goon overlords and the mighty puppetmaster ChairInaBasket have commanded me to think of them positively.

I've heard some pretty negative things about the Goons mostly through the Space Station 13 scene and I'm not sure if I've ever really had much contact with them beyond a brief stint on their SS13 servers -which was a couple of years ago and not a half bad experience (though I hear things have gone downhill since.)

Anyway, after some discussion with some friends, I think a wait-and-see policy is in order as to what kind of impact the Goons will have. Like any large organization, there are going to be good and bad members (good and bad being relative, naturally.) Hopefully the good will outshine the bad.

(edit to fix typo -there are probably more but I can't really be bothered to check at the moment...)

sigh, look at all the angst and worry generated by a groups...NAME. this isnt EvE, and yes i do play eve. i've been on the recieving end and sometimes the giving end against Goonswarm. are they asshats, yeah, mostly. do they use actual voice comms for something other than idle chat? oh hell yeah, they are highly coordinated. will they (in MWO) use the mechs to their fullest potential, yes they will. they are one of the few HUGE gaming communities that actually practices together .

all in all i look forward to the Swarm here in MWO as i know they will bring a fight worthy of pride if i win, and if i dont, it will because i got out played.

You could say our thread is "Why have you joined House Davion?" where we strip people of their misconceptions about the warmongering Davions.

I think some of the people posting here about their e-honor could do with having their misconceptions about House Liao stripped away, too.

From what I hear, these guys you're so worried about sound like clanners in any other MechWarrior game. In fact, if your rumors are correct, it makes no sense for them to be I.S. once the Clans are introduced in August, which leads me to believe your rumors are total BS.

But, let's say you believe those rumors ARE correct. Funnel enough funds our way, and maybe we'll take care of your little problem. ;)

Lol they already came up with a bunch of critter-tek spin-off clan names. So don't let them get started on that.

Every war needs an enemy force and if Goonswarm fills that position here in MW:O then it'll make the game stronger.

Except we're fighting with them not against them... unless your a FedSun... actually after thinking about it, this might cause the FedSuns to try and inflate their missguided ideology that their the good guys.

I'm really interested to know where you get the impression that goons play like Clanners from. Surely from all the posts in this thread alone it's apparent that Clanners are the opposite of goons - in fact if and when Clanners show up in game I imagine we'll take pleasure in doing "dishonourable" stuff to overcome any tech advantage they have like NARCing them and then pounding them with missiles from behind cover (or using artillery if they get that into the game).

I was under the impression that artillery is in the command tree abilities.

But you're Capellan! How can you troll fight clanners all the way down there? I mean, seriously, way to break my heart and not go FRR guys ):

That's Long Tom I believe, Snipers and Thumpers are likely to be available since the original weapon breakdown did place them in ballistics.

It is, but it's still WiP, so it may not be in the final game. Only time will tell. ;)

Oh yeah, I forgot - cool, then I'd certainly be in favour of pelting Clanners with as much artillery as possible, regardless of effectiveness, just because they hate it.

just so you know ahead of time. tips to dealing with goons:

1. they has spies.

2. more often then not they don't give to s#@ts about role playing at all.

3. they play the long game more often then not.

4. you will forget to trust tip 3 because they will help you out at some point and you'll develop a trust for them or one of them. remember tip 1.

5. their goals ends are grief for most others.

6. they aren't bad people exactly, they just play the game for different reasons beside space ship pew pew or tank pow pow.

7. from my observations they are generally skilled players... and yes WoT is a direct port to this game so lasers are easy and they know how to adapt to ballistics like any decent WoT player.

8. goon A will stab goon B in the back if its funny or big gains are to be had. as a side note goons C through Z wont care and laugh at goon B for getting boned.

i count a couple as gaming buddies. i didn't post this to **** anyone off, if anything they'll appreciate it.

Enjoy the meta game of the meta game folks. ;)

I like the clans just for their mechs... somewhat back to topic i wonder what if goonswarm could have their own signature mech what would it be... and color scheme
