To be fair we are joing one of the lowest population houses. I think FRR has more members than Liao.

Why not go straight merc Wargames? Seems like the goons would like hiring out their services to the houses a lot more than actually joining one anyway.

Liao has historically been an underpopulated house in MPBT. At one time in 3025 we even made alternate toons in Liao just to keep their part of the map green.

They are just here to play the game like any other competiive gaming group. If something proves to be unbalanced with the mechanics of the game itself, the devs will be on it. Its good they are buffing the popluation of a less desired faction.

One that would be boring since according to Dev Blog 1 we will be restricted in which planets we can play with. Two we want to see how much we could effect the meta game by trying to reverse the 4th session war. Three Davion are the real bad guys of battletech.

Aside from the role-playing shenanigans that the table top people come in here with, there is still a major problem with them joining a set house... If the games story line actually does change from the statistics of the matches played by every member of the game... What do you think will happen when a mega-guild that spans many games puts their architecture, logistics, and last but not least pure brute membership behind a single house. While they might not all be the best players that has never really been their claim to fame anyway. The ones that are good can work together and coordinate to lead MANY lances in MANY matches per day. This will absolutely have an affect on the house power balance that has been spoken about in the game thus far. I personally would think that the squad would want to just go straight merc anyway since it seems to fit their m.o..... but if they do join a set house I can guarantee that they will contribute a LARGE variation of points to that house just by statistical matches per day data that they will be able to produce. Of course the devs might already have something in place to make sure that houses with vastly more popular memberships can't overtake all others because of this.... but even then..... Where the Goon swarm goes... Imbalance follows.

This wouldn't even be a far break from canon though? The Capellans spend most of the time post 3055 stomping fedrat faces and generally being the smartest and most opportunistic military in the I.S. until the Dark Age. The worst case scenario is it just starts happening on the border worlds a little earlier. Really, the Cap Con needs to have a nice goonrush otherwise it will be so critically underpopulated it would almost certainly end up rubberbanding in the opposite direction.

As to why goons would want to play Capellans other than that? Well, crapping all over some manchild with the tag "xXxVictor$TEINERDAVIONxXx" while sporting CCAF badges is wonderful trolling in and of itself.

It seems like a lot of posters on this forum don't realize the crushing weight of the goons.
Pay your tenbux now, it'll make things easier in the long run.

Your average goon weighs about 250 lbs so just thinking about the crushing weight of them all is scary as hell.

So one house has the goon's and others dont, realistically I cant see this as an issue. The way this game is set you can only have so many mechs in one game anyway. One house has more people, give the other houses more games vs that one house, better all round right?

Sure they have a rep as being "game breaking" just have to see how the universe handles it really...

Thankfully, in my many encounters with goons across their many games over the last..Oh 5 years give or take. They tend to be pretty sub par players. They are only skilled at swarming. They accept everyone, and anyone. More times then not, they will lack any skill. I remember a old game I played Ogame.org say 3-4 years ago? Goon as pretty big that time, good solid 1500 members or so. My alliance made a NAP (None aggressive pack) with them. We lacked members, but made up with it with some of the top scoring players of that time (myself included) They started raiding some of our "noob" members. After weeks of chat logs they finally declared war against us. 3 months later, around 700 goons inactive, deleted,Vacation mode'd and the rest a pile of insignificant trash talkers. We walked away with billions in profits and victory claimed. A band of around 25 players wiped out a entire mass of goon players.

Things might be different in eve. I'm sure they have changed a bit since those days of crushing every player who branded the "goon" logo. But the point stands. They talk tough, but 95% of their members are sub par, no threat, or even a challenge. It's when they decide to group up in mass, and attack 2-3 people and then chest bump each other they feel superior.

So never fear. Even if they join the game, they pose no threat. Focus on the handful of what will be decent players, and the rest will fall with little trouble.

And? They have a 100 person cap. Of course they would be a "little" More selective since they do try and atleast compete in games. If the cap was 2,000 I bet it would be a total different story.

P.S. My stats are better then most of theirs. But only but a few % here and their. So they get a A for selecting decent players for their 100 cap.

Beaten hundreds of you before. Not concerned about doing it again. But, I'm not here to flame either side. Just here to ensure everyone that, even if goon comes rolling in. They are not to be scared over. Just another group that will mass recruit.

Never been in goon. But yall never cease to try and recruit me in every game we play. Eve, ogame, Wot, ect.

VVVV Don't listen to that guy. He is a liar. VVVV

Good Gods, use some punctuation man! One of my favorite thing about Something Awful, lazy typing is grounds for probation.

We only recruit Goons or very close friends of goons (as in someone the Goon can physically punch if they **** things up and get them both banned), so I shall call you a liar, good sir.

And yes, it is very different in a real game like EVE as opposed to yet-another-fad-of-the-month browser game. Goons are notorious for having short attention spans with those.

Then you apparently cannot keep track of all your recruiters. Cause I can assure you, more time then I can count, I've been approached by Goon to join. Ogame.org has been going strong since 2002. So I really cannot call that a fade by the month browser game. And your goon players played around 2+ years on that game. Even if you don't care to admit it.
