so far on the APU desktop any drop in framerate after the patch and hot fix?

on 720P low I still get around 30-45FPS so its still running fine for me.

Hi, it's been literally a decade ago when I las built a PC (using laptops since),
but around 2014 april I plan to build a desktop again, mainly for gaming.

So, about the A10-***, have you tested it with a discrete GPU against an i5-*** whatever?
I'm undecided, whether to go i5 (by that time, most likely Haswell, no overclocking planned) + discrete or AMD A10- something + discrete card. Also, what works better with AMD, and AMD card or Nvidia?
Obviously the AMD option would be cheaper, and thus preferable.

the 6800K can run MWO on 720P LOW and get 30-45FPS with 1866RAM and no graphics card.
the APUs performance is based on the speed of the memory. 1866 is preferred for APUs from what i've read. (unless you go higher.. which is more expensive).
I have not put a graphics card with the 6800K because the only one i have is my XFX 7970 GHZ paired with my FX 8350 processor, which would blow MWO out of the water.
if you're going for a budget build the 6800K is a good place to start and then beef up from there (add SSD/HDD, graphics card, etc).
another option is to go with an FX4300 and get a dedicated graphics card if you had a little more to spend and get better performance as a dedicated graphics card will always beat the integrated ones.
you can crossfire with the 6800K but some games (MWO currently included) will not take advantage of crossfire.

the 6800K can play pretty much all the current games (at lower specs) as my videos show. (youtube.com/bloodshedromance).
I've linked pretty much all my videos dealing with the 6800K in this topic.

currently the FX4300 is $120 (http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819113287)
FX6100 (6 core instead of 4) is also $120 and is just a little lower clocked than the 4300.. (http://www.newegg.co...3962&Tpk=fx6100)
and the 6800K is $150 (http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819113331)
the cheapest I5 is $180 (http://www.newegg.co...ICE&Pagesize=20)

the 4300/6100 and I5 chips would need a graphics card to hold up to MWO in any specs..
the 6800K wouldn't off bat need a graphics card and you could save up to get one later..

so it all depends on your spending range on what you should do for setting up a build

EDIT: just saw the FX6300 (upgrade to the FX6100) is also currently $120 http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819113286

and just to throw this out there, AMD FX8350 (8 full cores) goes for $200 http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819113284
MWO doesn't take full advantage of this chip but if you're multi tasking.. its a beast...

my personal build is the FX8350 with XFX 7970 GHZ edition GPU and 8GB of 1866RAM..
but if you're tight on money the FM2 chipset is an amazing solution for low spec gaming.. that doesn't mean you can't play all the games.. just means you have to play them at lower settings (like 720P instead of 1080P)
I used the A10-6800K as a main for a few weeks when my GPU took a dive and had to be sent in for repairs.. its awesome what it can do with no graphics card.. gaming, video editing, streaming, server hosting (while playing on that server (cube world))... it topped out its usage but it powered through..

by April of 2014 theres a good possibility the next generation of everything will be out and of couse will be better.. so you'll have to do research on the current generation of everything at the time of planning your build. theres nothing wrong with using previous generations of hardware, but if the current generation isn't too much more expensive then it could be worth waiting a little bit for. you'll just have to see when you start planning out your build.
