The Test Server Will Only Be On For 2 Hours At A Time On Thursdays?

So the public test server will finally be a reality! Great! Here is the staffer post: http://mwomercs.com/...-schedule-july/

But notice he says that it will only be running during these times:

12 vs. 12 Thursday 11th July 10am - 12pm and 4pm - 6pm
12 vs. 12 Thursday 18th July 10am - 12pm and 4pm - 6pm
12 vs. 12 Thursday 25th July 10am - 12pm and 4pm - 6pm


Why only 2 hours per run? That doesn't make much sense!

That's not a test server. That's a peek server for the privileged.

Glad I wasn't going to bother anyway.

though i will say, if you already have the MC these test servers could give you the chance to run any hero mechs you might be interested in, but dont wanna spend on

Pretty much exactly what I was expecting. I think a lot of people were expecting to play a four-weeks-early version of the game at their leisure, and that's simply not what this is about.

Could have sworn that Open BETA was for testing and that only RELEASED games used Public test servers because putting untested stuff on a released game is silly. Guess all those "this is beta" comments from PGI and their white knights have to go quiet now.

making sure the system works pre launch? stress testing 12v12 without having to completely rollback the clients if it is total fail? madness!! 17 sept 2013 as announced

Edit: And to anyone saying this ain't worth it, that's fine, but don't want to hear it when they throw it out live and HSR or the servers fall over because they couldn't get the system under live load in this testing......

Reminding people that 'its a beta' won't soothe the frustration caused in the event that the testing adversely affects the game.

Hey some of our series of tubes may be smaller than your series of tubes!

Lucky for me, even with small tubes, I got me some big harddrives, so I'm downloading it overnight.... ;)

I want to test this in Australia, and I work! Even minor fluctuations in Ping and latency can force me to break out my oceanic shot-leading conversion chart, so I'd dearly like to see what sort of performance hit I'm looking at.

I have no issue with it being automated if PGi doesn't have people on deck to monitor things, if it crashes, it crashes. I just really want to see what I'll be getting myself into.

PGI, I hereby humbly request that you throw something up around the 2-4am PDT time. I should probably put this in the feedback thread.

My issue is the time that the servers will be up. Really no way I can get most of my guys on to participate. It is what it is. I guess I just won't get to provide feedback.

you mean getting up at 2-3am just for a game isn't worth it.. ;)

Heh, I have kids... They try their very best to stay awake, and I try my very best to hoard my sleep like a miser, down to the minute.

You can still lone wolf or play a small 2-4 man team.

Keep in mind if it was up all the time it would suck to many people from the main player base. It makes sense for it only to be up for shot times for testing. Then they can see what it does to the player base.

True, IMO ideally something like a 6 or so hr stretch over a Saturday would be ideal especially to cover the test server going splat, but then there's no way of knowing how that affects the pgi team in terms of support and monitoring.
