This post is about balance and there is no feature listed.

Ryan you just got busted by the low elo forum police.

It would create balance and people would be forced to play better. If they played better they would get rewarded with a clan mech.

We are already restricted to running big mechs to maintain a 90% win rate. If we don't then we get put with the worst assaults pilots available. It's too hard to carry a team without having some armor.

Ok. Trying to find the relevance here.

What on earth does leveling up have to do with your suggestion to make them Elo-resricted?

I used leveling as an analogy of improving your skill to increase your Elo level.

They are not analogous. The worst player in an MMO makes it to max level eventually. By definition only a small percentage of the player base can have high Elos.

Maybe when they do ranked queues they could do something fun like make you work your Elo up to access different tiers of tech.

Right now they adamantly don't want to show us our Elo, a magical number that you can't see is nothing something to set goals over.

It's good that you have finally acknowledged that every forum other than gameplay balance is equivalent to K-Town.

I never played MWLL, but my buddy Adrian played plenty of it. He told me that you would have matches with respawns whereby you started with a light mech and moved up to an assault only if you were stomping face. It's pretty much the same thing with clan mechs here, except you have to earn it slowly if you can. Right now, people are howling about rampant boating and PPCs. It's because they're really easy to obtain. What's going to happen when clan mechs come in? More forum howling and QQ?

The way I see it, most of the playerbase foams at the mouth when it comes to acquiring Clan tech. If we made access to Clan tech Elo based, people would be furiously trying to find ways to improve their gaming abilities. It's just a thought though.

I think I remember Adrian, did he use the Steel surname as well?

You're talking about the c-bill gaining mechanics in a round of MWLL. But that is also entirely different than the suggestion you're making, not even close to the same thing. It also isn't clear that that snowballing mechanic was good for the game.

No? So I can power down my mech and let the baddies on my team get me wins by blowing themselves up? I carry my team every day, with the exception being when I play with DV8 in which case we swap the top spot in matches amongst each other.

It's not entirely different because the rounds had limited time and the amount of Cbills that you would make was directly proportional to the number of skulls that you would collect in a match, which means you would have to get kills fast to get the best mechs before the end of the match. I understand where you're coming from with the semantics.

It's not at all semantics, there's one huge glaring difference that you didn't list. Even in MWLL the worst players in the game could save up enough money to eventually get themselves in an assault.

Your suggestion is to restrict Clan access to high Elo. By definition this will be a small percentage of the player base.

Also it wasn't at all proportional to the number of skulls you collected in a match. It was a complicated algorithm that factored in the size of your 'mech, the size of your target, and how much damage you were doing. For killing a 'mech you got the credit for the damage it did while blowing itself up, but the system was based entirely around damage and not kills.

if we we're gonna do it true to colors, we would have a tournament, right of possession style. to see who actually is the best. none of this, "i think my team is the best" crap
