If you kill the other team you get rewards, if you take control of the base and win you get some extra goodies.

Why do this tho? (Yes, sorry, only a tangent on the thread.) You don't get paid (cbills or xp) for living, but you do for damage done. It seems you'd get more out of at least taking some shots at the Atlas.

Lights capping isn't the problem - this is a valid tactic to pull some of their team back to base. The problem is, 8 idiots (I chose another word at first, but realized it was going to get * out) sit there watching the cap drain down, expecting someone else to go back because they 'want to fight'.
If you're the one complaining about it, and have seen this in half your battles, then perhaps you should be the one to reach the team a little slower like I suggested. It's very satisfying to step into that light that doesn't think anyone's around and isn't paying all that much attention in the first few seconds they start capping and are standing still

Tip: If you get there, and they run, start walking off....and be prepared for them to come back again.

Ah, yeah. My brain said "his team was going down in flames, and he had a full mech in hiding"... assumption, biting me on the a$$ again. ;-) Players that are fully functional (if not unscratched) doing the same thing kinda irk me. Without both legs, you couldn't even try to tease the Atlas away from his base.
