As far as the Crab in other Houses or Merc units...hek yeah. Any mech could end up anywhere, just more likely to find them in Kurita or defending an HPG for ComStar.

WDs fought for and against (and kicked the crap out of) every spheroid house, it wouldn't be much of surprise to find any sort of mech in the formation prior to Outreach getting nuked.
Not sure if SLDF took any Crabs with them on the Exodus given that it was a late Star League design.
Dude what is up withnyour mechs? What a sight, were you doing an inventory?

Yeah, I landed another batch of mechs that I need to paint. Wanted to see where they would fit in.
Figured the best way to do that would be to line up those I had painted for each house.

Anyway the quality on the minis looks to be about what ive seen before. The minis look fairly nice, the biggest gripe I have with them are the thin arms and legs but that should be fairly easy to fix

Have you ever used a majority of your models at the same time?

Easiest fix for the starter box is to put a real hex base on them. Add the weight and makes them harder to tell from the real minis.
You can see I modded the Awesome by swapping the barrels making it a 9Q with the 4 PPCs.
Most minis I've had on the table for a Battletech game was probably about 50.

I was running 36 against the players company +.

The Thor and Loki were really good though. They looked great.
It's a good place to start though, just need to get the rules down and convince someone to play with me now

Nothing really..They are a little squashed and not a true Hex.
But putting them on a real base makes them heavier and more stable on the map / tabletop.

Thanks! Those are all the painted Inner Sphere Chassis. Have another 50 or so unpainted.
And I would guess about 125 Clan Mechs painted up as well.
Decades of collecting. Little at a time.

Postin' my examples of the starterset minis after painting. Not claimin' to be a Golden Demon level painter nor intendin' to take too much stress, but hope these help to build confidence about the minis

By "old" I mean withdrawn from production due to wear and tear every mold suffers over time - which is no biggy really considering that for the cost of the starter your also getting a good base set of knock-about miniatures compared to what you'd pay if buying them in lead and from brand new castings (a lance of 4 pewter/lead mech figures usually sells for around $20.00 to $30.00 AU).
Overall, considering everything you get in the Starter Set it's pretty good value - even the sturdier cardstock maps are an improvement over the folded paper originals from 1984.

I basically thought it represented great value for money and that it was a great introduction or re-introduction to the game, just slightly let down by the quality of the majority of the miniatures.
Personally I would have preferred to have seen less miniatures if it meant they could have all been of the same quality of the two ‘premium’ Clan Mechs.

Personally, I'd rather have had half (or less) the number of models if the quality was higher, but that may just be me...
