I started in the FASA universe, even still have my FASA house card somewhere (Sgt. in Davion). Back before a certain someone almost made FASA fold by skipping town with all their funds.

I played the board game and STILL have ALL my stuff. I'd become a master at custom mechs made using the rules so they'd be totally legal. Stock mechs suck IMO :)

Then, came computers and I found MW2 which forced me to go by a Thrustmaster FLCS16 flightstick hehe. STILL have all my games (MW2, Mercs, etc etc) but had to get rid of that stick as the fifteen pin ports kind of went away at some point.

MW2 was by far my favorite game even today as it was made as a SIMULATOR. MW3 was VERY solid but just lacked the right flow and had a sterile feel to it graphically, although I LIKE the way they implimented pulse laser technology.

MW4 was SSSOOO close to being VERY solid. However, limiting the weapon slots the way they did was retarded. Ok, I can see doing that to IS mechs that are built with dedicated designs but, OMNI mechs are called OMNI mechs because they use MODULAR designs that allow ANY equipment to be mounted at a given location!!! M$ fell flat on their faces there.

Missile/laser boating:

Um, sorry but it's supposed to be mech COMBAT/WARFARE....it's not fair or balanced. If people **** about missile boaters, make the antimissile systems a little stronger hmm? You DO have those in there right? Laser boaters? Ever hear of glaser armor?? Missile and laser boats make SENSE. They have drawbacks as well. You have a limited ammo reserve with missile boats and laser boats will be constantly riding the edge of overheating (or, in my case, PPC boats that shut down often hehe).

You could also make ECM suits more effective too you know, so that people can creep up on missile/laser boaters.

PLEASE make this a simulator heavy game!! DO NOT do what M$ did and **** it up by changing the boardgame rules!! Ok sure tweak stuff (stronger ECMs or antimissile systems etc), but don't scrap things or add totally new stuff unless it's canon.

Personally, I suggest you PG guys go and lock your devs in a room with all the boardgame (Battletech please, not the ROLE PLAYING game), canon and >PLAY THE BOARD GAME< for about a month solid and get GOOD at the rules. Learn to LOVE it like all of us raving fanboys do FIRST, THEN make the game on the PC

PLEASE

I can't believe there is going to be no co-op or lan play, guys this is what made the game so much fun please don't take these things out even with free to play I understand no single player game that's cool but please co-op has to begin their somewhere. Doing missions what my friends was the most fun we had playing mech warrior.

Honestly here's my opinion...

Remember Day 1 studios? yea i said it. MECHASSAULT thats what i want to see. not Mechwarrior as much even though mechassault and mechwarrior are essentially the same game, i want to hear the rest
of Foster, Natalia and the Mechwarriors story. and i think there is more to be told.

I have to disagree. We don't need MechAssaults arcadey style.

I saw the Hunchback in the media section. How did Smith and Tinker work that out with Harmony Gold? I thought HG owned the rights to that Mech.

My first game was the Battletech box set for $20 at Game Keepers in Metro Center Mall, Phx, AZ on my birthday in April 1989.

I played the ORIGINAL Mechwarrior PC game with the awesome 8-bit music in the bars and all the fun adventures to be had.

I've played every single Battltech/Mechwarrior game since and at one time owned over 180 Btech minis (all painted).

I'd love to see Solaris 7 as a fully developed part of this game. And while it's 3015, I'd love to be able to eventually play the Clans (for or against).

Also, it'd be kick-*** to see the Wolf's Dragoons, Eridani Light Horse, MAC, Kell's Hounds, and even the Periphery play a role. :)

Thanks for taking this on. I missed my old game.

Can't tell you guys how happy I am that you were able to pull this together and get the game rolling again. Now it's just a matter of time until I strap into my Rifleman and let the auto cannons roar.

Just wanted to say ... thanks for preserving. I've got money in hand to reward you. Please, make the bad language (single player mode) an option we can turn off. I'm a family man these days.

Serioursly... those were the worst excuse for a Mechwarrior game that anyone could have come up with. Come on, PPC's that follow there targets? *** were they thinking, Autocannons, who's description read " Rapid firing, auto loading cannons that fire high speed streams of high explosive shells" Were portrayed as flak guns.

The arcade style made the game look childish and the story sucked... not to mention it was completely F***** way off from the what happened at that time period in canon.

All that being said I do own both games, and will occasionally play MA2, ONLY because my MW3 won't work on my PC and I can't stand MW4 either.

Ok nerd rage rant over...

MW2/GBL was my 1st computer game(s), While I'm nervous to about the about the F2P system, it could have merit. I'm really nervous about the development company though. No offence guys but Duke Forever and Transformers 2.....not really products I'd brag about. Please don't destroy another one of my childhood memories. That being said, Good luck, and it would be awesome if something, even a teaser was leaked for us die hard Clanners that maybe we can get our hopes up, a little.

Good Luck

Hi everyone!

I have been a fan of BattleTech for many years. I played the computer games, red the novels and played the tabletop. Now, when I read this thread, I am happy that there are news in the franchise and I am looking forward to anything coming up.

I have been developing with some friends a tool to create and manage a persistent BT-Universe (conquer systems, build units, load them into dropships, dock to jumpships and transport them to the enemy, diplomacy and all that). Of course, it is a mod kind-of project and we are only 3 guys doing this.

Now after I red the description of the new game, I wonder if it already will contain a persistent universe as a background. In case not, I wonder if there'll be an interface to the game where such a tool could communicate?

Maybe to get a rough idea of what I am talking about, here are some (very old!) screenshots of the project:

Thanks for any comments,
Meldric

I've been around since the 80's. Since the original Boxed Set, then through all the Technical Readouts, various Role Playing incarnations of the universe, and read every single novel at least three times. Know most of the writing and development staff by their first names. Still keep in touch with a few of the novelists. Own every single BattleTech, and MechWarrior book ever printed as far as I know. I am getting very old, and very grey now, but I am glad to have lived to see this finally coming. My hat (Neuro-Helmet) is off to all of you. Congratulations, and stick to the cannon of what has gone before. It works, or it would have died many years ago.
