Dunno... for me this method of monetisation looks very non-invasive. A week I can wait. Yes, they take their chances because that's what they are working for, but I don't feel much of a pressure from PGI because of need to wait just a week. Perhaps other people feel other way, we're different.

You can put 4 Ballistic HP's on the AWS chassis as it is, and no one would pilot it. It has the largest CT, visible from the widest range of angles of any heavy or assault. It's a bloody deathtrap. I have three Mastered AWS chassis. Autocannons aren't going to help it not die when something sneezes in it's general direction.
This mech doesn't have problems with it's offensive capabilities. It can pack a punch. It simply can't survive a sneeze.
You need 1 ballistic hardpoint, or 4.
It would receive a Gauss rifle + 2 PPCs, or 1 PPC + 2 Gauss Rifles, or 2 ER PPCs + 4 MGs + lasers.
Also to the contrary.
I have piloted every Awesome, and owned every Awesome since the release of the Pretty Baby. It was such an incredible mech stock that I kept it that way for 14,000 XP, not even upgrading from SHS.
My KDR on all but the 9M is above 1.0. Poor 9M doesn't live long with an XL.I use it to chase down lights which I confess is foolish but fun. XL = bad, as its side torsos are as wide as an Atlas's. The CT is almost the same as an Atlas too, and thus torso twisting to use your arms to protect your torso is required.

But your example is fail because excluding the hero mechs, the regular mechs for MC are only a week from being C-Bill mechs. I do not see a problem with it. Just wait 1 more week if you really want to buy them.
Also, the Phoenix package is just that, a package. It's up to 12 mechs, up to 12 mech bays and up to 4 months of premium time.

Kintaro - Today I saw a player on KTO 20. 6 kills and 600+ dmg. That mech was fast and armed with close combat weapons.
Keep up making another stereotype, guys! I would love to break it challenging myself.

This means Smurfy is wrong and the golden boy has little advantage over the other models, or at least the KTO-18. It would seem they might all be able to carry massive amounts of LRMs on them.

However the GB makes the Victor feel like an indistructable tank.
I suppose the if both of these are a bit off in survivability than the smaller 55 ton machine is going to feel like death trap. But then again the 60 ton QD can take a heck of beating and goes down with equally detroyed torso sections.
Either way I think both the Victor and KTO could use a review in construction.
I have no issues in regards to how PGI is releasing thier product. Its a business that need to make money and this seems legit to me. They're not forcing my hand if i want one early.
I bought a Victor with MC but will not be purchasing the KTO for the reason of its survival.

Yeah, no. Ah well.
Looking forward to seeing some more variety on the battlefield at least.
I LOVE THE KINTARO!!!!!!
Man, finally something easier to get guaranteed kills on than Catapults and Awesomes! I hunt them down whenever I see them and riddle their CT full of AC10 fire. I try to collect them all!

i want to like it, 55 tons is a fun wieght, but sadly it is just not appealing mainly due to its huge size.

The problem isnt the mech, its the the hitboxes, most of the pople that bought a GB regretted it a LOT so the idea of cranking out three more for MC is just insane. I was looking forward to it, but then it quickly became obvious Kintaro might mean golden boy in japanese, but in MWO it translates to Ford Pinto.

Hum, the Pretty Baby comes with DHS already installed. Also, quite possibly one of the worst stock load-outs in the game.
Look, I don't want to be a huge jerk, but if you're going to sit there and claim that a stock PB is some amazing mech, I don't think anyone should really listen to your opinions on mech balance and load outs. The PB comes set-up like trash and only becomes mediocre with a lot of tweaking - trust me, I've got over 100k XP on my Buyers Remorse by now, I've tried everything to make it perform with the $30 I paid.

Not every release is going to be for you. Does the Kintaro have issues? Sure. Would I buy it for MC? No. Do I think no one else should have a chance to do so because I wouldn't? No. Spend your money how you wish.
That said, the Golden Boy really poorly done compared to the others. Why the speed nerf? Sure, stock it could be slower, but that doesn't mean you had to remove it's potential.

Well, it wouldn't have been worth it.
The current Hero->MC regular variants->C-bills/Everyone system is fine. It should have started earlier IMO, but that's just PGI's loss.
The thing is that I would've wanted to try it out to complete my "medium mech experience", but given the hitboxes of fail, I'll just end up crushing more of the early adopters for farming purposes.
