If selected,will we be playing on our own accounts with our own mechs? If not, will we be able to customize our mechs for the tourney, and will we be able to change our button configurations also? What mice/keyboards will be in use? I imagine some form of Razer? It's the little things that count =)

If it's like the nVidia event, it was stock only mechs (Saving customizations was blocked), with Razer keyboards and mice. We could tweak the controls though, which screwed people up after the first round. Now we've got a "back to default" at least.

I seem to remember fairly basic keyboards, for gaming models that is. I think the mice were Naga. The towers were a mix of donations from like 4 separate companies.

I have a feeling it will be stock only mechs again, just to keep things moving between matches as customization would take forever to get going. We'll see though, hopefully I get an invite, or at least can watch the streaming from the event if not.

They should make everybody run trial mechs ;-).

Trial Mechs are stock mechs (most times, sometimes one of the "customs" gets in there).

I have a feeling that they'll have guest accounts with everything imaginable unlocked, and you'll be given a certain amount of time to prepare before each match. Either that or stock mechs, there's no room for something in between IMO.

Wish I could go to the launch event, but clearly they hate Midwesterners (sarcasm! They can't rightly please everyone here.), and I certainly can't afford to go to this one. A pity, but hey, maybe I can check out the livestream! It sounds like a fun event, and I hope all those lucky enough to go get to enjoy it to its fullest!

Wouldn't it be interesting to hold an e-launch event that for the price of a ticket, where applicable/possible, beer and pizza is delivered to your house along with promotional materials, and you're guaranteed a spot in whatever tourney they were holding? Bonus points for a "Scratch and sniff: Launch Party/Convention edition" card included with it!

Edit: Screw it, I like this idea- I'll have my own launch party! No blackjack and hookers, though.

Not that I expect to have any influence over PGI's decisions..

From previous engagements I have had (and heard about), typically gaming companies showcasing a product at an event pay for the transportation and boarding for a limited number of the customer base to engage a greater audience, This help showcase the involvement of people across all aspects of life, and geography. It also promotes a sense of 'we care about our fans' not only to the fans, but to the potential customer as well.

Alas, if I had the chance to go, I would, but alas, getting from the Midwest to California on my own dime, is not something I, nor probably most, players are able to do.

Undoubtedly I can see the desire and draw behind wanting to do this- lord knows I'd love to be shipped to California for a few days, but given the option between putting their money towards flying in a few select gamers to LA, or using that money to continue working on the game... I'd prefer it be spent entirely on the game.

I will concede that the party itself is a worthy, if not necessary expensive however- could be good publicity for the game, get more people interested and ultimately bring in more money for development, but that's not assured- so best to not spend more than necessary.
