Why was the mouseover shown with "Exclusive Phoenix Pattern" on the title when it describes the non-exclusive Flame pattern? I don't know. I blame some french cultural contamination.

Now that we've established that you aren't very good at paying attention to the details of English language writing, take some time to re-read my post.

The Exclusive is clearly referencing the flame pattern. Only a complete fool or a sycophant would claim otherwise.

NO. there is no "phoenix pattern". it is set on the mech, you will not be able to change the pattern on the 4 main phoenix mechs at all. stop referring to it as a pattern because it does not exist on the pattern select screen.

the "flame pattern" is the only pattern referred to on that page, and in it's description and the only place on the whole page it's says "EXCLUSIVE"


Also seeing as i met them at the event, none of them are french canadian.

By the way, does anybody else find it ironic that rather than announcing "more and more rewards" for purchasers, they've instead announced that the flame camo won't actually be a Phoenix exclusive? Indeed, the only additional Phoenix news item I can find is a point-of-no-return for Phoenix cancellation/refund requests.

Please, please, correct me if I'm wrong on this. As funny as it obviously is, I really want to have hope but can't overcome my cynicism.

Its only a few days away from the Phoenix release and people are getting anxious about the new mechs. A lot of companies have to let the public know that refunds won't be given back after a certain date to make sure that the product goes to the people who paid. In other games there has been record of people getting refunds and getting the product because they asked last minute for it. It isn't fair for the company, so it is fair they set a date of which you can not ask for a refund after that date to avoid confusion when giving said product out, given it physical or digital.. And plus, I don't think there is enough time to put together another reward with a few days left, unless they did a half arsed attempt at something for money... but, that doesn't seem like the case with Phoenix. Everything looks like they put a lot of time into it...

And, nowhere was it said the Flame pattern was Exclusive. But, I am VERY glad we got the unlock. All the MC that would of went into buying the pattern for all those mechs would of been HUGE! I know all of my Locust mechs will have the Flame pattern. I can't wait for Tuesday!

This is my stance untill the mechs are released an we know for sure

1. The black white and red camo is the exclusive pattern.
2. Phoenix mechs and variants will get the pattern for free for the mechs they bought. IE buy the Talon Package and you get the flame pattern for the Locust but not the one for the Battlemaster.
3. The Flame pattern will be for sale for all mechs on Oct 15th. The flame pattern will not be exclusive to Phoenix mechs.
4. Saber mechs will not get the flame pattern for free because they are not Phoenix mechs.
5. I don't expect to see all the cool decals on the mechs when they are released.
6. Wait and see. We'll know what's what come Tuesday.

I um..... Ooookay. Are you reading the same thing I am? Because what I read is '...Current Phoenix Mech owners will recieve the flame pattern' Can you please point out where it says we get it Exclusively? Because it looks like we get it for free for the Phoenix mechs.... I am so confused.

That text appears nowhere in the post you quoted -- neither verbatim nor paraphrased -- so I can only conclude that he is not reading what you are. If we were to stay on topic instead of reading the wrong thing, you would quickly realize that the Project Phoenix sale page has been touting an exclusive camo pattern unlock.

The quote from Russ -- dated today -- is to clarify the stunning revelation in the October developer update that stated the Flame pattern will not actually be exclusive.

Several white-knights argued that it was a typo that the Flame pattern was no longer marked exclusive, a status denoted by a simple "asterisk" character. Unfortunately, Russ has now confirmed on Twitter that there was no mistake in the update. PGI has changed their mind, the Flame pattern is no longer exclusive.

It must strain one's integrity to first argue that the Flame pattern is still exclusive, and then immediately turn around to argue that it never was exclusive.

that's not what exclusive means. "getting something exclusively for free" makes no sense.

In summary, the various reasons presented thus far for the miscommunication:

1. Exclusive doesn't mean exclusive
2. Exclusive was a typo
3. The words "Exclusive Phoenix Pattern" over the Flame pattern unlock were actually referencing the hero phoenix mechs that have an unchangable pattern as seen on other heroes.
4. Exclusive? I don't see that word anywhere! Where is it?
