One poster mentioned something that I thought was more than fair. List some of the ideas we've been toying with in order for it to work. These are just SOME of the ideas we've been discussing:
- Camera is locked horizontally to the torso. This is not a peek around corners mode.
- Camera is locked vertically to the torso, you can only look up and down as far as your torso can.
- When approaching cover (to rocks/building etc), the camera pulls IN so FoV is greatly reduced when standing close to something.
- 3rd Person is not a free-cam.
- HUD will be significantly reduced if not completely removed.
- LOS targetting is NOT affected by 3rd person. If you cannot target it from 1st person, you cannot target it in 3rd.
- ONLY the targeted enemy (Press R) can be identified in 3rd person... all other HUD indicators are turned off.

Anyone who uses 3PV is not only a tool, but easy to farm for C-bills and XP with how the matchmaker works.
So please puggies use 3pv, you only make it easier to farm you.

What you're forgetting is that the MG has a RoF of 10 and a crit damage multiplier of 12.5. So, a single bullet at 0.1 critting 1 time would be 0.1*12.5, or 1.25 damage. Considering the high probability of crits that MG's had, this could happen quite frequently, including multiple times in a single second of firing. Then multiply that by 6 in the case of the DD Jager 6xMG build. They could basically shred mechs if they were lucky with getting crits.
I suspect that the culprit was the 15% extra damage to IS, thus giving them a big boost when boated. By reducing the crit chance and crit multiplier a bit, they'll still be crit seeking, but they won't totally shreds someone IS and core them in a couple seconds.

If I had to guess, I'd say this is a lot of ground work for UI 2.0 and something on the back end just isn't connected to the current client/GUI. As for the "PGI said NEVER". Well, you are technically correct (the best kind of correct). But if the queue spit is in place by CW, than so want?

Also, 3rd person already? When it's known that it's not quite ready yet? And forcing newbies to play it, without a tutorial to inform them they can remove it? Or even that arms and torso aren't clued to the legs? And the over-nerf and over-buff you guys love so much? *sigh* I need a new face from all the facepalm. Only the mediums buff is minimizing the pain.

If this was true, then Gauss would do 45 pts when 3-critting. I find it hard to believe and thus stand by my numbers.

but if its just to get rid of 3pv? pointless. I got to play in the test server. 3pv is pitiful compared to seismic (which I sold. felt bad having such a huge advantage.)

Perhaps they just want everyone to try it out first so that they can get more (burning hot) opinions about it. If they put in the queues right away, some people would never try 3rdPV ever. Either way, I do agree that mentioning why the separate queues would not go in would've been nice.

its clear that pgi does that on pupose. forcing 3rd person for all, deactivating wd-lights. they want all to try it, if this is the right way i doubt.
also its a joke that you cant see your legs which was a major point to implement 3rd person. that you can see the hole mech to see how it works when you move.
in this state 3rd person is only good for one thing: spying over hills which you could not otherwise
