Just as they have addressed regular jumpsiniping?

Don't be ridiculous. Jump sniping is a valid game mechanic. :(

Everyone who is complaining is complaining for the sake of complaining. I have played multiple games now after the patch, and third person view has literally changed nothing in the way the game is played. SO PEOPLE STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT NOTHING I KNOW IT SEEMS A POPULAR THING TO DO ON THIS FORUM, BUT PLEASE STOP IT. No one even ******* uses it!!!! I can only watch people complain about nothing for so long then I let it all out. All they did was add a very benign feature that does nothing. People will say if it is benign then why did they add it. I don't know, but who gives a ****. All i use for is to admire my mech for maybe the first 5 SECONDS OF THE GAME.

Nobody uses it to corner peek?

Nobody uses it to look over hills both small and hilltops?

Nobody uses it to line up shots for poptarting?

Nobody uses it to risklessly scout enemy movements?

Are you joking or just naive? Just because people don't have it on non-stop doesn't mean it isn't messing up the game.

I still remember the early competitive games. The huge risks associated with scouting. Knowing that if I sent my Jenners over that hill to find out what was on the other side, they might not be coming back. I could well be sending my teammates to their deaths on a foolish whim. The weight of those decisions made them real and meaningful to gameplay.

Nope, screw that. Press a button, hug a rock and get all that information and more without having to even approach a cone of fire.

Bump cause I am out of LIKES

No, they said they would never do that!

Oh...

I lol'ed, I admit.

But this is what I said earlier too. Can we look forward to NHUA next? Why not go full P2W? Clearly, absolute statements made to us have no value, so why not? *sighs*

Edit: Clearly, no heat won't happen, as that would involve removing Ghost Heat - something there's actually zero chance of. Make it Unlimited Ammo, No Friendly Fire. But don't worry, there's Hardcore mode!

So you like to look at your mech fine... But just because you haven't seen the problem doesn't mean it is not there.
The stupid thing is if it is done right you will never know your opponent used it against you - you wont see them.
Sure a red blinking light will give them away - if you are looking!
They wont pop up on radar. They can line you up for a shot from behind cover even LRMs cant target them, and when they pop you have less then 2 seconds to see them, line them up and shoot back, all of this while taking incoming damage.

At competitive levels of the game it will change the game considerably more toward a sniping meta. As if PPC changes back in the day weren't bad enough.

Worst it makes cover sniping more effective and cover sniping is the mode of combat least effected by the heat-scale changes they introduced.

Chris Roberts take us away from this swirled battleground of charred metal bone and flesh. I don't feel like a customer anymore. I've spent hundreds of dollars and I feel like I'm getting less and less from MWO. I don't want to be mean to PGI, I just don't feel like this game is going in the direction I had hoped it would. On an up-note Star Citizens hanger module is coming out this Saturday can't wait to see my Constellation. :(

Just one question: Can you already play Star Citizen this Saturday? And I really mean play.

That's the other concern that this brings up.... so PGI went back on coolant... fine I understand. They go back on 3PV, but russ gives a heartfelt post on why he has changed his mind... ok, I don't like it but I can respect that. Now they go back on the queues so 3PV is part of all the games.... I have already mentioned how much I hate this and feel lied to.

So, what sort of precedent does this set for the game? What can we even believe from PGI anymore? Is the next step P2W because they changed their minds? What else is coming that will harm the game but we were promised it would never happen?

Not yet. This Saturday you can only view your ships. December is when the dogfighting module will be released, then we will be able to dog fight

I was OK with coolant, because it was tailored to solve most of our complaints with it. I actually like the way it's installed here, given that it takes something out of your 'mech and is a one shot aid, instead of "energy gun ammo."

3PV didn't get anything like that. The blinking drone was a step in the right direction, but the implementation was bad.

Which will put Star Citizen at the same point MWO is now by December....

I'm thinking some magically OP hero mech... like probably an upcoming Hero Orion on launch month. It wouldn't take too much to do. We're just lucky some hero mechs look like the Pretty Baby or Golden Boy (although, not in a good way). Imagine an Orion that can actually shove 2 PPC + 2 Gauss into the hero mech chassis. It wouldn't take two seconds before the forum rage to ignite.

Glad I worked all day and missed this thread and it's 47 pages being filled out haha.

I am in the group of people that thinks 3PV is a huge disadvantage but may be exploitable. BUT I think 2 things could be done to stop this from happening

1) Some kind of delay switching between the two modes. some examples are the screen going black for a few seconds while it switches, or you have to shut down your mech to switch views, then turn it back on.

2) (and sorry if this is already do-able) Make the little camera destructible, Give it 10-15 hitpoints, and if it is destroyed, your screen goes blank for 2-3 seconds, and you lose 3PV the rest of the match.

honestly, I like the little camera telling me where people are hiding behind things :(

To many LIES.

First i stopped playing at xmas when i realized CW wasnt coming 90 days after Open Beta as promised.

Come back a few weeks ago to check assuming CW was in game by now, it wasnt. whatever no big deal now im to the point im not even mad i just laugh it off, i think anyone who has been here since early closed beta is to this point now.

But then.....

IT WAS PROMISED THERE WOOULD BE A SEPARATE QUE FOR FIRST PERSON ONLY.

I have no wish to play this game in third person, its like cheating, hell it IS cheating.

When you can hop in a ECM light run into a hole in the ground/behind a hill/ledge/building/whatever 100% solid cover you want switch to third person and report movements of the enemy team all game WITH NO WAY AT ALL for them to have any idea where you are or be able to target you even if they did know you were there is just..... i cant even express how stupid, especially after telling us we would have separate games with 3pv locked out, because you know we told you this was going to be a really bad idea almost a ******** year ago.

PGI finally went full ******

Im out again, maybe ill come back in another 7-8 months and see if they have fixed this mess by then.

I'll check back once in a few days to see if PGI rememberes they said there would be separate 3PV games and hot patch it in but im not holding my breath, as i said at the beginning of this post, to many lies to be worth my time anymore.

I honestly wonder who's pet project was ECM... discontent on PGI's balance efforts started there and kept on getting worse...

I'm normally the first one to stick up for PGI, you can ask anyone in DHB. But this time, I just can't.

I'm going to give it the week Russ stated in his tweet, and if no resolution based on what they promised us, I'll ask for a refund on my Phoenix pack. I can use the refund for other "things"

The beauty is SC's hangar module kicks off this coming weekend. College starts next week. SC Dogfighting alpha starts in December, so, if I have to end up leaving, I'll hate doing it, but if they can't deliver what they told some of their biggest supporters, why should I continue to support.

Bryan

"After designing, developing, and testing the MWO’s 3PV, we quickly realised that 3PV offered no significant advantage over 1PV. In fact we found each mode had pros and cons that played well with each other. This revelation changed our initial 3PV plans and we postponed Hardcore mode (separate queues for 1PV and 3PV), in favor of rethinking the idea and offering up a different solution that also addressed a few more community wish list items."

To be honest it doesn't matter what you are thinking, you gave a promise that People would not be forced to play in mixed modes, simple as that.

Well obviously you lied, welcome in the reign of SOE, EA, NCSoft and Co. all Companys that blatantly lie and bribe their Customer.

Really disappointing, another Gaming Company that lacks integrity, although nowadays somewhat the norm.
