what is going on with this 3rd person view. i know some of the old mechwarrior games had as a option but making it a default is dumb. ruins the feel of mech warrior. also the drone ruin the background of battletech. please for the love of god drop the idea as mech warrior was a simulator game not a 3rd person game. i could go play amouredcore if i want a big robot 3rd person game.

In the options menu is a "Start In Third Person" option to determine which view you start each match in
By default, this option is toggled on (to start games in third person view)
When you are in third person view, Arm Lock is turned on and cannot be turned off
When you are in third person view, the lance and minimap HUD elements are not available
When you are in third person view, there is a camera drone hovering behind you that other players can see
By default, you can press F4 to toggle between third and first person view
This key can be rebound in the options menu
You cannot switch views while your Mech is shut down

Easily their single most catastrophic PR move to date, topping out the previous "we'll never ever have coolant flush!"

My wallet is closed until we get some satisfactory resolution to this one. Won't stop playing because I've got too much foolishly invested in it already, but I'll probably be asking for that Phoenix refund if we don't hear something really good by the end of the week.

There is. It's being investigated... PGI should have considered the age, means and education of their 'hardcore fans' before they departed from the Founders Package investment offer prospectus.

EDIT: as to the italicised part... open interpretation cuts both ways. Still waiting to hear if PGI(via their support folks) considers the Founders Package a 'whole and complete product'. Will post the response when I have it.

I feel like PGI should refund me all the time I put into this game as compensation for their poor business decisions, poor game design decisions and overall just being an amalgamation of horrible ideas and execution.

You can forward said time, or the monetary equivalent, to my secretary.

What my friend here is saying is:
1. You messed up. There's no shame in admitting that you're wrong, if you fix the root cause of difficulties. Criticism can be hard to take, but it's vital that you get people who will be honest with you, people who aren't being paid by the publisher to play the game, and people who aren't sycophants.

2. We want to help you. We want to help you not only make this game good, but make this game the best Mechwarrior game yet, and help you keep it alive for years to come. Unessesarily complex solutions to problems just generate more problems down the road, either in balancing the game or in their implementation. K.I.S.S. is best practices from an engineering and design standpoint because more complexity means more points of possible failure.

3. I'm sorry I'm so mad, I'm hurt and confused by your actions. We had something special, it was good, but the past few months are too much for me to bear. I'm sorry.
