They are setting the game up for X-Box One I guess :/
I personally think they missed the memo on how much people spend on Simulator they like. Case and Point Microsoft's Train Simulator 2013.

'Like'. I don't recall a prior mea culpa from PGI. The closest they have ever got was "Yeah. We could have done that better [I was on holiday and all]". I believe 3PV will make the other biggest negative feedback (ECM) look tame. I don't know how they will respond:

1) Double down
2) Say "Hey. Queues are coming. Chill out"
3) In a week say "Yeah. We could have handled this better"
4) Something else

...Regardless. Too late for me.

It would have been better to let the mechwarrior IP remain dormant than to squander it for another decade if not forever.

I really like 3rd person viev but its only feature, nothing more. Its totally useless in fight and i dont understand why you blame PGI for this. In fight against me i hope everyone will use 3rd pv, hehe i use 1rd and will kill them all :D. I think that everybody should try this first and see how its work.

Yawn. All the rage over nothing. Maybe it might help new players get oriented (I'm not convinced), but after trying it, I definitely don't think it helps anyone tactically. I think the devs did a good job of making it mostly useless in a fight.

I used it to great effect in my victor on TerraTherma and a few others....just not to orient my legs though. could not see them.

3rd pv is and advantage anybody who says it isnt is blatalantly lying BASTA it isnt godmode but its a nice wallhack that helps u watch over ledges and so on. I DONT WANT IT ( i dont need it either because my spider has the wonky hitboxmodule )

Just a reminder: MWLL is still here (even after PGI forced a shutdown). People are still playing. No 3rd person. Balance is nearly perfect. Hit detection is better. Real radar. Now totally free. And stuff. Come try it out!

3PV sucks. Ability to see things without recieving damage should not be here.

I'm pretty happy I didn't drop hard earned money to pay a bunch of people who don't take criticism nor listen to outside opinions. Instead I used that money to help a politician get elected.

Normally I wouldn't condone peddling a product over the corpse of another, but this is clearly the exception to my rule.

I don't really mind 3pv, but I'd like to see some tweaks.

1) add a graphic transition ie. full-screen static for a quarter second when switching to 3pv and back to 1pv
2) while in 3pv, add a more 'monitor-like' effect, with scan-lines and similar video artifacts
3) make the camera UAV destructible, with said destruction disrupting visual for 3 seconds or so until the pilot re-orients him/herself to 1pv. Give it 18pts external armour and 30pts internals, similar to a cockpit

If it's here to stay, maybe things can be done to make it less polarizing.

My feedback to the 3PV:

I don't really know why, but the 3PV makes me feel a bit nauseous. Not much, but just enough that I cannot play in 3PV for more than a minute or so. That being said, I only play in light and fast mechs, maybe in an assault (which I rarely play) this wouldn't be a problem, gotta test that. Also, this is new for me, since I regularly play 1PV and 3PV games and never experienced such a problem before. I realize this feedback might not help you, but I still wanted to let you know. Also, it doesn't help that the transition between 1PV and 3PV (and back) when you press F4 feels a bit... clunky? I would've preferred an instand switch, not a back- and forth flying camera.

The bouncing corrhair might be a necessary evil, but it really sucks and makes aiming a pain. Sadly, I have no better solution to offer. I realize that World of Tanks uses a similar system, but it plays a lot slower than MWO and thus it's not that much of an issue there.

3PV seems to have BIG advantages over 1PV considering the field of view. You just see a LOT more in 3PV, both in front (behind hills, ridges and corners) and to the sides of your mech. The disadvantages you implemented in 3PV (fixed arms, no radar, no lance-info) feel very artificial and their impact varies depending on the mech. In mechs like the Cicada or Jenner the fixed arms are not that much of a problem. The lance-info is useless anyway.

The drone you placed behind the mechs to compensate for the better field of view in 3PV vs. 1PV can hardly be seen on long distances, and feels very artificial, too. And it actually blocks shots, so that in effect, the drone is even more of an advantage than a disadvantage for 3PV.

The misssing queue is actually a good thing, I think. I really fear that further dividing the (seemingly) small community of this game into two different queues will hurt the game. Of course, right now, I feel a 3PV player has more advantages than a 1PV player, but I guess that's just a matter of fine-tuning.

Conclusion:
I don't like 3PV. I would have preferred that you would never have wasted your resources on it. It creates balance-issues and I really don't think that the new user experiences profits that much from it. But I see that we, as a community, couldn't change your plans, despite the bad feedback on the forums (and the fact that in the few matches I played since the patch, almost noone seemed to use the 3PV).

I guess in the end, after a LOT of finetuning (which, sadly, always seems to take ages in MWO), players will switch between 3PV and 1PV regularly during a match. This is the way I played World of Tanks at least, and when it works there, why wouldn't it here?

Devs, I really love your game. I didn't pour that much money and time into a game in the last 10 years or so. Pleeeease don't break it.

Wow, pages piling up like crazy, so noone will actually read this I guess…

Did any of you even play since the patch or bothered to test 3pv on testing grounds???? It does not seem like it. 3pv has so many disadvantages that it is NOT a game winner. In all the games I dropped people would go 1pv after 30sec… Or am I missing the point here and your lamenting is all ironic???


Only sad thing, as 3pv is so useless, why not use the resources to get a nice tutorial + UI2.0 + CW stage 1 in the same time??????

@ those idiots flipping out about this.

3PV HAS NO BENEFIT IN COMBAT! Its a MASSIVE handicap when fighting due to forced arm lock, and a very bright blinky drone staying HAY I AM HERE!

So shut up and play the game, until such a time where people in 3PV are actually doing better then those in 1PV you have NO ROOM to stand on.



If you continue to rant and rave about this, then do not let the mechbays hit you on the way out. Good riddance to bad rubbish, so called "hardcore" noobs. If you were really a hardcore fan of the mechwarrior franchise, then you would be happy to have a GAME AT ALL regardless of how "bad" it is (no CW yet so you cannot pass judgement on the game yet).
