Anyone that didn't get pissed at the patch got pissed at the response, especially twitter. I don't know why they keep letting their socialy stunted employees open their mouths in pubiic.

Sadly this is starting to look like the NGE (New Game Experience) update that killed off Star Wars Galaxies...

I can see it now. September 17th, The great CW and UI 2.0 experience update patch.

Now, you have to create a character and you pick one of a small handfull of classes - Scout mech, Medic mech, tank mech, dps mech.

No more customization, you just pick the skin of your mech and you use different skill trees to do different things. Like tanks will have a button called (ac/20 barrage).

I was really against 3PV, and i still won't use it. Now, having said that, it turned out to be a little less pain in the *** than anticipated.

-The fact that the drone is visible, gives 3PV players a little disadvantage. Yes, they can peek above hills, but we also know they are there, because of the visible drone. In theory, if the drone can see you, you can see the drone.
-No map in third person, you lose situational awareness
-Aiming seems to be a pain in the ***, because of the jumping crosshair.
-The switching between views is not instant, could be slower though....
-The camera is stiff, and feels wrong (hey...if it's bad for 3PV, it's good for me :D the enemy of my enemy......
-Played a few matches yesterday, and only seen 6-7 players using it per match

My single biggest problem is that it's on by default. If a new player start to play today, he will have throttle decay, arm lock, 3pv turned on by default. Those three make a ******* mix. I hate PGI for doing that.

NOTICE-NOTICE-NOTICE

Could you guys please stop complaining about everything PGI does (often just for the sake of it, as it seems). I dont like 3pv myself but its not THAT gamebreaking as we thought although you can view over and around certain obstacles.

And about broken promises. In case you haven't noticed:

THE SEPERATE QUEUES FOR 3PV AND 1PV ARE READY TO KICK IN.

You can already see them in the gamemode selection although not selectable. But that is understandable. Why should they split the playerbase during a testing period.

So up to now, my major concerns about the 3pv are settled.

Keep up the work, PGI (but don't forget the features the fanbase has valid concerns about)

Dont forget twitter too, we are beta testers after all so why do they ignore our "Feedback" when there are other more urgent things to focus on so close to "release"

Thanks for not reading the thread, though.

I couldn't really care less, you get less maneuverability in 3pv, no mini map, it takes several seconds to switch between the 2 and when it's up you have a bright blinking dot above you letting everyone else know exactly where you are, so you can't even use it to jump snipe and move position

I won't be using it, but I can't say I object to anyone else using it either

Heh - since the patch, the first thing every game is people, who just patched the game, asking how to turn the stoopid 3pv off.

Gotta say - I had my doubts about 3pv providing an unfair "super vision", forcing people to use it to remain on a level playing field with those that can't learn to play inside the cockpit.

But it turned out to be a glorious case of "be careful what you wish for" for all the whiney little runts crying for 3rd person, "cause i can't see what my bot is doing".

Thumbs up on that :D

3pv: wellPGi its near to useless because

1st: armlock cause you cant use your arms and weapons in them making it useless for non PPC gaussboat mechs and also for fast mechs which need their arms (dragon) also it slows down your cursormovement a lot so aiming becomes more difficult because you cant aim fast thx to being restricted to the torso turnrate, so if you are fast ionn the move hitting something becomes more difficult (its the same with armlock in 1stperson but their i wont use it unless i play gauss/PPC boat)

i realy wanted to have 3rd person view for my fast mechs so that i can use them as fast attacker but arms in 3rd person are more uselss then in 1stperson because you cant use them at alss in first person you can atleast use them a bit until the sides of your cockpit are in the way and you cant use them to their max angle (every dragon round teches me that again and again

and you also can not shoot light mechs which go infront of your assault mech in 1stperson you can atleast do that to an smaller degree even if you cant see the light you can stil spray and pray infront of your feet hopefully hitting him (honestly in TT the assault would just stomp it in the ground....)

2nd: camera is too close you cant really see your mechs legs, i personaly dont have that problem exept driving something of the size of an assault mech but i have heard many friends who i wanted to bring to mwo saying that they have no sense of direction even with 3rd person thx to the camera beign so close so move it backwards a bit not higher but more backwards so players can see their legs will get you more players and more money

lets pu things together,

allow armlock off so we can use 3rd Person with all mechs equally and not only gauss/PPC mechs (there 3rd person is of no matter thx to arm lock beign on even in 1stPerson on most mechs for pinpoint acc) also move the camery backwrds so its easier to see your mech legs

Elaborate on that, please. I sense a lack of arguments in your post.

But, the question may be allowed, have YOU read the point about broken promises in MY post?

I'm not sure if exposing new players to bitter vets is in PGI's interests.

They can't do much about it, no matter how much they change the game, some "vets" will remain and recount their past mistakes to the new guys who in turn will tell their friends and so on. This badge of shame cannot be washed away, just like Sony couldn't do anything about the people who remember SWG.

As I prevented, the 3RD person is totally useless and crippled for any newbie. If PGI's intent was to teach them that the legs are separate from the torso a DAMN MANDATORY TUTORIAL would have done it at best.

The first time you play you MUST do that tutorial, maybe add a little bonus like 300mc's or 1 free mechbay for its completion. Problem solved.

No, you then introduced (WITHOUT SEPARATION OF PLAYERS LIKE YOU PROMISED) something greatly adversed by the commnunity, that's useless from the pov of teaching newbs about situational awareness, discontenting the rest of your users.

Absolutely outstanding choice, really outstanding. Thank god I found Phoenix stuff totally unattractive.

I missed nothing; the game is in Beta. The tag says so. The constant patches every two weeks adding content or features say so as well.

FFXI has been "released" for 11 years now and we get Patches/version updates with new content every 2 weeks also for the past 11 years so do not preach that a Beta ONLY gets updates every 2 weeks and a release does not................

I apollogize if my words sounded harsh, or anyone felt offended.

Some people call me white knighting for pgi and sometimes i feel im the only one not complaining.
please understand that its even more frustrating beeing the "only" one on the other side of the fence.

that should not be a reson for me to call everyone who states their reasonable complaints a "whiner". Just an explanation.
I will try to keep myself from posting such offensive texts, so please forgive my rudeness from earlier.

I opened up a post for everyone who likes to contribute to 3pv tactics for the community. I hope we can get used to the new "abilities" and gain more than we lose (fun).
For anyone interested, check out "chalenge: 3pv tactics collection" in the strategies and guides section.

humbly hours.
