For the general arm-lock, throttle-decay, pug population, the answer would seem to be yes.

For 4-man slop play, you're probably right, although the good players will exploit the hell out of it to get an advantage.

For 12-man competitive play, it's a killer. It forces using a game mechanic that most competitive players just don't want to deal with, I know I don't. If left unchallenged, PGI would force "hard core players" to use 3PV for exploitation, not for easier or better or more enjoyable gameplay. PGI is just misreading this problem. For competitive player, it's not about other players having an advantage, it's about being forced to use 3PV: It would not be optional in competitive play. Why? Because the other team is going to use every capability to win including recon with no danger to the unit doing the recon.

So again, in 4-man slop, you might be right, but in competitive play, PGI is attempting to FORCE players into 3PV, whether they understand that or not.

I need to check out Star Citizen too. Didn't play Wing Commander, but loved Elite. Also, need to get DOSbox going right on my comp and get Crescent Hawk's Inception going for some nostalgia. Last summer, waiting for entrance to closed beta, I ran through all the MW2 & 3 games on DOSbox. At least there you are supposed to be able to kill 4-8 mechs by yourself.

I popped 3pv a couple times. Didn't like it. Doesn't fit my idea of what I wanted out of MWO (sim combat vs arcade game). Is 3pv to make this Xbox portable? I love piloting a 'mech, but I'm getting sad. Maybe I'll just kill my time in Minecraft...

As far as I'm concerned this game is not feature complete and still alpha until at least MASC is in. CW maybe, but it is just going to be a map on the website with "FIGHT FOR THIS PLANET AND GET +5% LOYALTY POINTS"

For the brain dead or lazy, nothing makes a difference, they simply are incapable of taking advantage of any situation.

So do not be surprised they 'don't see a problem' the reason they don't see is because they are either blind or have their eyes squeezed tightly shut! Most likely with their hand over their ears and chanting a mantra of 'I can't hear you!' over and over until we all go away.

That never occurred to me, no, and thank you for your explanation.

There's no need to be so hateful; I've only been playing MWO and lurking the board for about a month. I'm just trying to understand _why_ so many people dislike this seemingly innocuous change so much.

Maybe with more posts like yours that have substantive scenarios where the vision advantage can be abused, the 'armlock, throttle decay pug population' will understand why this is something that should be in a separate queue.

And just a reminder - the problem are not the exploits 3rd person view makes possible - the problem is the "fact" that, we don't have the -> promised <- (as a fact) 1st person queue.

Thing is people have been posting such scenarios for 72 pages now, with pics and everything. But every couple of pages someone like you comes along yelling at us about being a bunch of whiners and ruining the community. So read the thread first. Heck read 10 pages and you will see enough to convince you unless you are the biggest white knight around.
