I have been a Battletech and MechWarrior fan since I discovered an old copy of MW 2 on one of the ancient reserve computers at my school back in 2000. For 13 years I have been a loyal follower of the genre, and have frequently gone out of my way to get my fix. When I first heard of MWO I hastened with all connection speed to reserve my name. Unfortunately it was not till Ostara that I acquired a computer capable of playing on it, so I missed the early fun. Still I joined, and although devoid of Timberwolf, I soon found my home in my trusty CPLT-K2. Sadly though, PGI did not seem to be happy with their fan base. They wanted Timothy 10 year old from COD, so they introduced 3PV. They wanted PPC boats to go, so they introduced Ghost Heat. At this point I was still struggling along under the White Knightissem of "Its only Beta". That was until the last PPC nerf. And what now? We its not Beta any more, and yet the game still isn't fixed. We have issues. PGI needs to listen to the community. Get rid of Ghost Heat, drop 3PV. Some of the mechanics, like the Gauss charge sequence, are a good idea, but there are others that are abomnimable. PGI, I wish this game to succeed, but for that you need to listen to us. Please listen. Blood Rose, longtime fan and veteran.

Battlefield 4, a long running multi-million dollar franchise, backed by the biggest publisher out, is currently suffering major issues months after launch, even after a supposed "Beta" meant to find and address the issues.

MWO and PGI are tiny in comparison, and relatively new to the industry. There doing fairly well despite that.

PGI has been around for 13 years. They aren't relatively new to the industry.

PGI is a successful, veteran game developer. You don't last over a decade in this industry without being able to do something right. It's a pretty cutthroat industry.

No. They worked on just a small part of it. Can't remember which part exactly... multiplayer client?

<Face Palm>......Yes.....yes it was.......

EDIT: Heffay is right that it was the Mutiplayer, but it was also the port over to the console. Full Development was 3D Realms and a few other companies with 2K publishing.

No idea what you're facepalming. When you said they made DNF, you were wrong about that. When it was pointed out to you that the part of the game that PGI worked on was one of the few things that went right with DNF, you double facepalmed? Two facepalms for you being twice as wrong?

As long as you have low standards I guess you can say PGI is doing fairly well. Wooot for low standards! Keep making excuses for them and they will keep living up to your low standards. I guess this is PGI's target demographic, people with low standards. I hope there are enough of you with money to keep things going.

You didn't know.
PGI does listen to the community.
I for one hope PGI stops listening.
no telling what's in the planning stages.

Making balance choices via forum polls is fing *@^$(@&*!
yet that's exactly what they did for SRM damage.
It also proves that PGI will listen to the forum.
contrary to my prior 2 years of experience
i just didn't see it happen.
But polls dont work and dont represent the player base.
but used none the less.

To their credit, they did code a brand new engine in-house, created a new matchmaking algorithm to replace Elo, scripted and produced a Hollywoodesque single player campaign, added integrated voice chat, developed a really cool stats/ranking system, have way better balance despite a greater variety of weapons, have far more functional and aesthetic customization options, are running several servers worldwide, have combined arms land-sea-air-foot battle, immersive offense/counter/counter-counter/evasion mechanics, clan support, join/rejoin midgame capability, ingame/outgame text chat, provide detailed match history reports, etc.

I also think it is disingenuous of you to present October 29 -> November 25 as "Many months after launch" because that is not even one full month.

The PS4 release does not happen for another 4 days. Negative-four days is not "many months" either.

Pointing out logic will never compute in a fanboi's magical realm.

Sorry to see nothing has changed here, I was hoping for more but the same promises as months ago (and in some cases over a year) but hey new Mechs for sale!!!! Well I think I am done I may try back in 6 months I think that should be more than enough time to see atleast some of the promised content.

Always great to see what looks like paid accounts defend a position that should never be defended.

Good luck Devs believe it or not I am rooting for you. However I need to state that I am only one account but in 6 months if nothing major has hit I am done.

*shrugs*

I won't bother defending PGI, as they can do that themselves.

I will say that the changes don't bother me much.

I rarely see 3PV used in any fashion. Combat seems much more difficult in 3PV, despite the addition of an aim assist feature.

Ghost heat... I don't miss the various boats of Mechwarrior 4 one. Single. Bit. Pop-tarting PPC boats. No fun. Anyone remember the 6 (7?) ERLL Nova Cat that fires a massive alpha strike then shut down from the heat?

It was pretty ridiculous. Ghost heat encourages build variety.

This is from people who are backing a developer that said we would have UI 2.0 3 weeks after launch so it's not surprising their view of time and dates is as skewed as those they are backing.

My bad, last I played was in Open Beta, which was actually a few months ago.

My main point was that - PGI have far less people, less money, and less expertise than DICE. I'm not saying would should be content with the game in it's broken state, I'm saying that before we get too far ahead of ourselves we should take a step back, have a look at what we're asking of such a small development team.

What? Open Beta for Battlefield 4 started on October 4 and ended October 15.

I think RG Notch is on to something, the target audience cannot perceive the passage of time.

Sorry WRONG!!! PGI is nothing more than a corporate raider preying on older popular IP's to suck the life and money out of players still loyal to that IP. PGI has never made a successful game out of any IP they have ever acquired and MWO is going down the drain just like all the rest of there ventures as soon as the money flow stops.

Then they will find a new old IP to redo again and suck the life and money out of new fans and players.
