I'm pretty sure UI 2.0 (which should be called MWO 2.0 to be more fair) would be a long term business decision. Work on the foundation despite the wailing and angst, because it'll allow progress in the future.
If the clickfest I saw with the complete inability to select mech sections unless for a menu with those names, unability to see all the critical slots and change armor, items and upgrades all in the same screen is the "foundation" of the future, then we're a little bit screwed you know?
I bet even PGI uses Smurfy's to build up their mechs and pass along builds within their offices. Yet they thought to create just a beautiful UI rather than a functional one.
The only great thing that I saw in the playtest (besides the fullscreen and the good looks) was the weapon group configuration. Everything else is in a poor state of even mental design, I hope that its developement allows some reworking as I saw in the feebacks and that they'll release it when it will be BETTER than the current ui.
This game desperatedly needs complete re-balancing of the hardpoints system, a working matchmaker (I'm pretty sure they'll screw everything again with the weight restrictions), better game modes, and.. a ton more of things that shouldn't still be in the state they are after 1 year. We still have SRMs without splash damage, it's months we should see them fixed to at least give some more brawling options instead of destroying the Gauss Rifle or the movement or introducing Ghost heat like they did.
New mechs, I mean, monthly mechs releases, won't save this game :/
