The reason PPC's were never used in CB had everything to do with no DHS and Horrible Hit Detection. I assure you, they are still going to be used at 10/15 heat.

Heck, I used a Catapult-K3 build pretty often in closed beta and I wasn't too fussed about the heat generation.

Yeah, they basically ruined the PPC and Gauss (Orion). I'm going back to World of Tanks until they get this game figured out. I said that it was only a matter of time before they zoomed out on the 3rd person view giving those players even more of an advantage (Orion). They will soon add the mini map to the HUD and unlock arm lock from 3rd person (Orion). Orion: too little too late.

Out of curiosity, was the Gauss cooldown time tweaked at all to make up for having to wait at least an extra .75 seconds for it to charge? If not it lost quite a considerable amount of it's DPS as well, percentage-wise anyway.

I'm presuming I won't find out till the patch hits and I've tried it myself but hey, it's worth asking however for the record and based on the patch notes it sounds like it's DPS took the hit, unfortunately.

Looks like a complete 360 on balance back to the closed beta brawling/SRM based game play.

A good and bad thing (should still be trying to develop a rock paper scissors style rather than favoring one over the other)

My concern is that's too many changes to long range game play all at once, leaving ghost heat in along side these is a suspect decision.
The Gauss by math now, could be severely hampered.

I remember when you changed multiple variables on LRM's and broke those. Looks like a similar event.

Glad to see the NPE finally being addressed. A tutorial was waay overdue. I also like the trail mech choices this time around. Three decent to good mechs for FNG's to try out. (LOLQuickdraw) Also the Orion. Finally. Wonder why you painted it like a road cone. Last thing you want to do is draw attention to the largest part of the mech. It screams "Here I am! Please shoot your weapons at the bright shiny spots." Sniper nerfs are very welcome. Brawling may have well returned. Gonna need a larger bucket for all the incoming poptart tears. I wonder if they taste like strawberries? I like strawberries...

Awesome! ermm... ORION !!!

SRM2 buff is a surprise. Hope we will have a use on the smaller mechs now instead of SRM6. More diversitiy = Great !

PPC tweaks = Great !
The community demanded a "simple" fix rather than "overly complicated fluff" for the 6 months of PPC-warrior.
Here it is finally. :)
Now we will have some diversity rather than only PPC/Gauss everywhere.

With these tweaks we now have a directfire medium-long range weapon (PPC), a long range sniper (Gauss) that both need more skill for short range and a All-rounder (ERPPC) that can be used in all ranges, but is limited in number and rate of fire due to the heat.
No more 3 all-round weapons. They all got their purpose now. People asked for the vision of PGI for the purpose of the weapons.
Sounds perfect imho.

Fixes for HSR and Kintaro = Great !

Adv. Zoom = Great !

Tutorial = Great !

THIS GUY HAS 1 POST and HE'S POSTING TO COMPLAIN! PGI - are you blind to how you are affecting your clients? His first post is complaining about you.

It looks to me that this is a troll account.
He's saying this is his first patch but he played hundreths of games and even knows about adv.zoom's modules former bad version?

The patch is a decent change to the PPC meta and it was needed and wanted by a lot for the last 6 months.
Get the patch and do some drops before you judge the changes please.

PPC Nerf is good/bad possibly. The should generate more heat...But The PPC should still have retained its velocity I think.

The purpose was to desync the projectiles between PPC/Gauss to avoid the meta builds.

If they kept all the other changes and removed the Gauss' charge-up thing this would have been a near-perfect patch. I would even have accepted adding a charge-up for PPCs, but Gauss was already perfectly balanced tbh.

Hmmm... rage starting to calm... I'd give this patch a 8.5/10 rating. The PPC speed drop... ok... heat increase... maybe should have just been 14 for ERPPC. Gauss speed way up... nice... charge mechanic... scrap. Um... macro's anyone? Are there a few players/clans chuckling about this charge mechanic while the rest rail on and on??? I guess I'll have to get a macro program now.... press ALT-U to simulate a press-and-hold of Button 1... press Button 1 to fire Guass!!! WHOO!!! So... now it is just a continuous 0.75sec dead zone on the Gauss.

I don't post much of anything in forums.

But i got to say
I don't agree with the gauss rifle nerf, if i can't shoot it when i need it. I got to replace it with something else. I just hope you don't Nerf the next weapon i use as well.

He complains because his builds got nerfed a bit. That's not a proper complaint. That's just being selfish and not caring about the game.

Forcing people to play any one style over the other is selfish.
All styles should be viable to promote a truly tactical game, to balance the game they should be taking little and often steps.

Not six monthly long jumps.

Har har har, what are you doing in my mechbay, PGI? You just made the game a whole lot more playable for me without nerfing any of my builds. How did you do that?

Thanks for correcting the heat on the PPCs. Thanks for Reducing the dmg of the PPC to 0 within 90m. Thanks for finally getting the Orion out the door as I look forward to the c-bill varients. Thanks for continuing to work on hit detection. Thanks for the tutorial for the new players.

Not too keen on the speed increases/decreases on the Guass and PPC nor am I too keen on the charging time for Guass when it should at the very least be PPCs. We will see how that all fairs and hope there is enough player feedback this time to remove it from Guass and impelment it on the PPCs.

Thank you for having a reasonable response and a clear level head. The other sane members of the community appreciate you, I promise.

To those complaining about the PPC / ER PPC nerf, it was much needed. It was too good of a weapon and the ehat numbers are those most of us knew of back in CB. Also the slower speed. The increased speed of the Gauss is welcomed but I would say that it won't be used to brawl with anymore.

IMHO it's the wrong way around for the mech coming out. I'd have gotten UI2.0 out now before launch then release the hero orion on 17/09 along with SLDF camo / paints as part of it.

The weapon changes could be interesting however.

Completely forgot:

Can someone post a screenshot/video of "(slightly) improved adanced zoom" once the servers are coming back up? Won't be getting a chance to play until late friday, and I'm really curious about this one...

I'm asking because of the overrall quality of the video is dysmal... if they want to market their game to non MWO players, they need to make their videos a little more interesting.

Hell, most MWO videos made by clans are 10 times better than this.

They are hit-and-miss when it comes to their videos, ain't they? If it's not a live stream, anyway.

They need to hire this guy:
